If you can pull off a Poison just b4 your opponent grabs you, it's great. The ptooie is just as good as Simon's axe. It's great for edge guarding.

Still garbage, neutral is trash, recovery is horrid outside from range, mobility is mediocre at best, no kill options outside of up smash and bair and up throw. No combos, no aerial game, frame data is okay at best, Range itself is mediocre for a character of its size, and due to that it gets smacked around a lot. Only good points it really has is a good ledge trap and a *decent* projectile. Also Poison can block off a section of the stage for a brief period, encouraging the opponent to respect it, but since it doesn't last long, you can just wait it out.

Sounds like I, a "bad player" knows more about your main than you do, a know-it-all weenie with piranha plant as your PFP.

Great to know! Also, poison can ledgetrap. Not to mention pummel to throw in poison can do 80+ if fully charged.

IKR? We do have a kill confirm from around 80-120 with sweetspotted Dair into Up Smash.

Oh man, in my timezone PP dropped at 1AM, so I stayed up 'til 3:30AM to play Smash.
Now I'm super tired 'cuz I had little sleep and did a lip synch and then some animation at college. But hey, worth it.

I've still got to mess around way more with PP, but from my initial playtime
I'M LOVE HER!!!!

What a cutie. PP seems like a bit more complex than the characters I typically play, but I'm up for the challenge!

Whoo! Lucky for me, it worked liked I hoped. I entered the code in when I got it and Piranha auto-downloaded for me, so I had nothing to worry about.
So, just some thoughts on Mr. Planty...

* He's got a decent speed and feel to him; it's good (I know the mined data told us as much, but reading it and feeling it are two different things)
* That poison cloud move that sits there on the field is pretty cool; it doesn't provide any knock back, but is a good ledge guard to get free damage in
* Neutral B has good power to it; kind of like Simon's axe. It can Guard above you or be tossed like 2ft left or right, so it requires timing, but its strong
* Iron Ball (Neutral B) can hit multiple opponents and do damage if opponent runs into it (evidenced by Multiple Inklings in Piranha's Classic mode run)
* Might have just been me, but it seemed like his grab range was SUPER short; like Jigglypuff down special sweet-spot short
* Piranha's Down special can be used in air. If mastered, that move could be ridiculously good; seems a bit awkward as a Down special though
* Fair amount of startup to Piranha's Specials; Tried to use Poison Cloud before it was fully charged, but it seemed like it could only be spit when full charge
* Could only play test him a little bit since I had also started KH III last night
* Piranha Plant's Classic Mode run (confirming that DLC gets its own Classic Mode run, hurray!) is against all new characters and called 'New Bloom'

Ooh interesting. I only did a few quick matches, then a run through Classic mode with him, so I didnt get too much time to test (I was eager to get back to KHIII).

So the Plant's specials have a higher skill ceiling to them then. They can just be thrown out, but the fact you can switch it up with the neutral special like that is pretty useful. I'll have to test him some more after work.

Side B also benefits from being able to use charge-cancel (tapping shield will let it act out of charge immediately, holding shield allows inputting grab, a direction to buffer spotdodge/roll, and it can cancel while airborne by double jumping, air dodging, etc.) & can be b-reversed as well. This really helps out mixing up its landing.

From our testing yesterday, it seems to act similarly to moves like Palutena's Shield attacks (Dash Attack/Back Air) in that it can beat out many attacks/practically feels armored, but it will lose to strong projectiles/moves in certain occasions (was beating it out with Charge Shot from Samus), so not quite to the same extent.

Uthrow can combo to an uair BUT to do even MORE damage and launch FURTHER, use it's neutral special. It's honestly it's best move. His down B sucks

But I rumor is you need to free atleast 10 first to get the plant added to the team
