GGs Minato, I may join again later.

I need to figure out what happened in that second to last round, felt like I might have actually had a chance against you.

I got anxious and pressed too many buttons I think. I think you're getting there after you practice more. Do more 2As into 5Bs for blockstrings, glide more, and then run behind me on a bad DP and do your 2C combo. I tend to try and not use Yosuke's 5C 2C too much unless I'm trying to sniff out a CH midscreen, but you kind of lose pressure unless they get scared and block 5D. Ending 2C into 5B works on in the corner though.

But yeah, just work on it and you'll soon give me trouble in matches.

GGs.

That was just awful, Chie got me mad after the first match or two and it was downhill from there.

I think I'm gonna take a hiatus from console fighters until I get a keystick. Picking up the controller after like a 2 month long break (stupid internet), all the inputs feel so horribly imprecise compared to my usual keyboard.

Hope to play you guys in a few months :x.

There's a chance there's going to be a lobby Saturday afternoon/night. Nothing like this though. I might be passing more to get homework done. And I think I did over 4 hours of Persona tonight.

Also GGs, everyone. I think everyone's improving. I still notice some flaws and habits but they can be fixed.

GGs, I need to get the Kanji matchup down. And that reset, so sad I got hit by it, even if knew it was gonna come someday.
I don't think I can use secondaries on you. I'm so bad on my wakeup game against you lol.

I might have to hit the lab and figure out my options against that pesky oki. Especially since Narukami has like an answer for everything lol.

No you weren't. You checked this thread but you never got on P4U until my last match with Aisight.

Well okay, true that I didn't get on until a little under 2 hour ago, but I remember seeing at least you and Aisight on when I hopped on, and maybe Teczero too. I had to do a couple of connection tests because for whatever reason my matches were getting laggy for a bit. Not exactly sure when you guys signed off though.

I only watched a couple matches, and I don't have anything really specific. I'd say work on your defense a bit, you got opened up a lot with Persona blockstrings, and I don't think he was doing any unblockable set-ups (that I saw, at least). Also, maybe try to be a bit more patient? You took a lot of damage trying to get in or break the Persona.

I played some late night P4U yesterday on NYGamer's stream, ended up playing to 10 wins against a Yukiko who gave me a hard time and IK'd me a few times lol. Can I get some comments/critiques?

Looks like you were still trying to learn the matchup. There are a few things I saw that you could work on. One is to IB her moves more. She's one of the easiest characters to IB, imo, so you should be getting a lot of meter and you should be in less block stun because of it. Another is work on your habit on neutral teching or forward teching. You mostly went back which put you in the corner or put your further away again.

And if you're in the corner, that means you're at great risk on getting hit by an unblockable. If it's a high low unblockable, and I reacted too late (to the point when if I jump, I'll get clipped), I'll still try to jump. You'll still be hit since you can't block right away in the air, but chances are, they'll drop their combo because they're trying to 2A. If they're cautious and they're waiting for the high to hit so they can go low, it's your chance to GC and then OMC if you need to. If Yukiko ever has a fire unblockable ready, buffer super input if you can and react to it. I saw you rolling to get out of corner unblockables. They sometimes work, but not that often on a good Yukiko. Plus Kanji's roll is pretty terrible iirc.

Most of your early approaches were yolo dive, but you started doing less of that as the matches went on. I'd also work on punishing better on AoAs when they're blocked. Unless the connection is super bad, you should be able to land a good punish like dash up command grab.

Yeah I'm still not used to the whole forward-teching option and what situations to use it in... let alone neutral techs. Gonna have to experiment.
Ah, never considered just jumping to eat an air hit vs high/low unblockables.
I think Yukiko has one of the harder-to-punish AoA's on block, though it has pretty fraudulent startup. I'll look into if I can microdash command grab in the instances where I'm not in range to just command grab straight up.
Yeah a lot of my dives are to call out midscreen Maragi, since that forces Yukiko to remain standing for the entire 30+ frame startup. I also do it a lot if I'm feeling impatient, but I tried to cut down on that when it was clear I was being a little too liberal with them lol.

I have to admit you're far from alone in being uncomfortable forward-teching. Even still my basic instinct is to like tech-back, or down back or something of the sort, because just naturally teching TOWARDS the opponent instinctively feels counterproductive.

You're actually one of the few that tech forward instead of back, imo. Whenever I do a Liz reset into j.D, I'd say 4/5 times you teched forward. Most everyone here seems to tech back though or seem to late tech.

But yeah, teching forward is helpful on Yukiko, imo. You gain your air options back after teching, so you can air dash in. Plus she has no way to AA you either. But neutral teching is just as good too since you reach the ground faster so you can dash in.

In matches, generally, my teching goes like this. If I can tech early/high up it's forward or back depending on where they are and where the corner is. This is in instances like getting hit by air raging lion, and then you can air dash to escape a 2B anti air. Late neutral tech if I'm close to the ground,if it's a grab reset, or if I feel like I can recover fast enough so I can start my offense. I never messed with up tech much so I never found use that wasn't situational.

I guess up tech is less susceptible to midscreen resets? lol

I know a lot of my Kanji stuff (lightning to airdive catch, j.a j.b dj j.a airdive reset, corner 214c 2b 236d) is specifically built to punish backward techs.

I have no idea why I back teched against you so much that one night. I knew I was going to practically die for doing it.
Then that dive grab reset. lol
