wow, this new smashboards...

Gonna take some getting used to.

:mad088: is no longer a thing.

All of my sorrow.

And I'll need to fix some of the formatting in my threads someday. Do collapse and/or spoilers exist? I haven't seen them yet.
:mad088: was pretty much my favorite to use. And no, collapse and spoiler tags don't exist. Not yet anyways.
This new layout I'm pretty much used to since SRK has the same kind.

Okay, guess I'll just leave it all alone for now, not like anyone reads the first post.

:054: is gone too, that's also a big loss for me.

This new site is indeed weird. It seems...kinda like the new SRK a bit though. Just with a better colour scheme.

Also, since I posted this in the wrong place earlier, good games lately with Jam, Minato, Sakurazaki, and Teczero. Though I gotta ask, is Black Spot something that can be a decent counter for things if used correctly, or was I just getting lucky with it as I used it?

It's actually pretty much the same as the old SRK, ironically.

D Black Spot is safe on block, SB version is safe on block and has armour.

Yeah, GGs, guys. Just a heads up, expect a little more Narukami in the following lobbies since I am getting rusty with him.

Depends on the situation. C version is decent (long start up though) as a frame trap but is punishable on block (but you'll be safe and still minus if you try and space it). It's a FC move so it's more helpful in the corner. B and SB version has even longer start up but is plus on block. Pretty good if you expect your opponent is going to rush in from a distance away. SB has armor later on it it's startup which is nice, and B version can be used for a midscreen or corner FC. I generally use C version has a frame trap or as a spacing tool if they're pressure random buttons without being too close to me. SBs pretty good in the footsie range.

Use Black Spot sparingly. It's not bad but it has its uses. And don't be one of those Chie players that always spam C Black Spot at the start of every round. I know that trick, so I always buffer Ziocar and punish them on reaction leading into a safe jump.

Yeah, we'll be doing tons of work over time to bring back everything we had on old Smashboards (except for the skins), so stay tuned.

EDIT @Minato: I got the local Chie player here to stop doing that on opening by beating it with opening fatal counter 5C lol.

I believe John2k4 is trying to do something along the lines of porting Generations over. As for myself, I'll probably be making a new skin once I figure out xenforo.

That's good to hear. Although I'm pretty satisfied how things are turning out so far. No complaints from me.

LOL Maybe I should try something like that on Chies.

Aight, thanks for the Black Spot advice. I'd started using it because I had remembered that I wasn't using and flushing out as much of Chie's movelist as I felt I should. An oddly strange thing is that I feel like Yosuke and sometimes Labrys are the current problem characters for me. Sure Yukiko gives me trouble, but I know what I was doing wrong. With Labrys, I find sometimes the range and speed of her attacks to be misleading and always seem to well, mix up which mixup they're doing. As for Yosuke? Well...while I'm sure that's how he plays and his gameplay, he just tends to really make me infuriated even if I suspect most is flash and not substance. Advise me oh great leader, lol.

Labrys is easy offline. I find her a tad annoying online because random normals clip me lol. But with Chie, once you're in, you're in. Pressure then and end it in 5A since it's +1 and you can dash and 5A again. If they're doing 2A or 5A in your pressure, they're asking to be CHed or just praying you're doing your stagger wrong. If she ever DPs, just DP her DP. Her DP activates slowly because of the hitstop from your normals hitting her armor, so it's easy to react. This also goes for her guard cancel. I recommend recording Labrys DPing in training mode so you get used to it. She pretty much needs 100 meter to safely escape out of your pressure. In the situation where you DP her GC and she OMCs, you can get punished, so be careful. You can avoid this by canceling your first hit into Power Charge.

If you ever see Labrys trying to 2B you, it's pretty gutsy. Chie can just j.C to halt her momentum. Then you can punish by CH 5B into 5D or whatever it is for like 4k. When Labrys does a j.B, I'm pretty sure a timed 5B will beat her clean. Online it might be difficult since you'll react too late and you'll get hit on your startup though. If I'm not confident on the connection and they like to air dash j.B me, I just roll. Don't deal with it. Last important thing is learn to back away or pressure effectively. If she has red axe, just stay back if you need to. She can't really catch you easily and then charge in on her when she's green.

Dealing with Yosuke is pretty much avoid staying in neutral game too long and get that pressure/knockdown. If he does a (non SB) kunai way up high, just roll and punish him when he lands. He has low health which makes the match easier on Chie. Just practice your combos into God Hand and of course your oki. He's pretty much dead in 3 strong combos.

Thanks for that, I actually wouldn't have thought of canceling into Power Charge there. Hell, I wouldn't have thought of doing roll to deal with some stuff too. I'm always finding myself hesitant to use it despite the invincibility frames it has since I'm always feeling kind of worried about being punished into or out of it.

Lost to a Yu player at Katsucon. Was a lot closer of a set than it would've been if I had never played Minato though.

I want to practice with you guys but my PS3 decided it's too cool to read discs anymore.

Yeah, that sucks about your PS3. I kinda wish I knew how to fix that stuff so I could suggest things to do but unfortunately I don't. Though I think that might speak for most of us here, since we'd most likely want to help if we could. Well, most of us, lol.

That sucks, dude. Hopefully, you can get it fixed?

So, I just found out that the major that I'm traveling to is no longer running P4A on stream because of 3S. Or if they are, it's only gonna be finals. And that kinda grinds my gears a little.

I'm just salty about it because none of the other games are being run simultaneously and they're all getting stream time. Even TTT2, which will likely have the same number of entrants as P4A and probably take longer.

I understand their reasoning for wanting everything to run on time, but I would be lying if I said it didn't irk me.

Yeah, I fully understand that. I kind of think it happens because we don't speak up and be vocal more with "our game should be on stream" with reference to the scene. Like, if you tried to do that with Marvel or AE, their scene would be up in arms demanding you do it, and even Tekken tends to want to be streamed too. KOF and MK are a bit different in that scene wise in that while they usually really want to be streamed, they're not going to make a giant fuss about it and really just want to play their game and make the most epic tournament out of it they can.

Sorry about all the disconnects and connections troubles. My internet has been a bit wonky and weird today and hasn't been able to maintain a stable connection (the Upload speed at one point jumped from 900kb to 60kb to 1.3mb in a span of 15 seconds) so I think tonight just doesn't want to be a good night for it. Which kind of sucks since when the only round we almost got done started I was like "hey, I blocked almost everything!"
