It's weird because while Narukami has been a character that I feel has actually been helping me strengthen and learn fundamentals, I find myself wanting to put more and more Lab time in with Chie as well as this urge in the back of my mind to mess around with using Mitsuru from time to time. But, I feel like even if I try my luck occasionally with Mitsuru, I won't drop Narukami or Chie since I at least feel like I'm learning stuff after with them.

I admittedly don't either. She's a charge character that gives me the vibe she shouldn't be, and her Persona stuff is...different, but I'm sure she's bound to be good for a reason. That's not why she seems partly interesting though.

Oh, was the Japanese VA better? She seemed fine in the anime, and I didn't notice her enough to find her annoying in P4A. Though I SWEAR she quoted the Guilty Gear round thing once.

Thanks for the recommendations, Ankoku.

Gonna snag a copy of P4U (again) soon. I wanna compete at EVO, or at the very least play you guys and WIN.

I expect harsh critiques ala Livewire style. :troll:

I dunno quite about that, man. I've always had a history of having a hard time taking a step back and actually accepting constructive criticism and advice for what it is. As a result of that, I fully brought on and deserved every bit of the harsh criticism that I've gotten from time to time. I'm pretty sure no matter how bad you might feel you wind up doing in fights (regardless of whether that's actually the case or not, as this is far from an attempt to bash you), you wouldn't have any real difficulty accepting the advice and criticism and would quickly improve.

And hey, we're all kinda learning a bit together on a bunch of things, so no worries.

Damn ragequiter.

*sigh*

Looks like I'm stuck with this red name for a while longer. At least I got a ton of good matches in anyways.

But there's no end in sight.

Hm...I wish there was an option in the matchmaking for this game to NOT show games that are "private joinable only". It gets pretty frustrating when you go through rooms and realize 80% of them are only private joinable, and all but 1 of the rest you can't enter and that 1 contains someone ranked SS. :glare:

Wow...that DP really IS the circle of death.

And yeah, more fighters need Youtube support for uploading replays and stuff. I mean hell, Uncharted 3 of all things has it.

Yeah, it has been mostly fixed since I switched to a wired connection last month. I think I have fallen out of a room once or twice since then but it has been very stable overall.

This was definitely that person, it was the only disconnect after a few hours of playing, that Yukiko disconnected right when I won by time out. :/

On the bright side I can use my grind to get rid of my red name as the perfect chance to try out other characters, it's not like I care about winning on ranked. I've always wanted to try Elizabeth and Aigis.

I'll be willing to play around then as well.

Mitsuru pix
It's not even just her insane range, but her safety as well. It may just be due to my inexperience against the character, but I don't know her openings or when her combos actually end and the mix-ups begin. Her pressure is so incredibly good... and she's got presence at all ranges.

I haven't the slightest clue how to approach that match-up as Labrys.

In all honesty, I was more joking than I was serious lmao.

I'm pretty bad at the match up myself so haha

Then again, I'm kinda just learning basics at this point.

I used to have a mind-block against Mitsuru because of how varied her pressure game could be compared to just about everyone else, but it really is about just losing a couple hundred games to her and learning about her mixup options, effective range, etc. Mitsuru HAS to play reactive, if she tries to throw something out pre-emptively then she's either performing the read of her life or she's performing the read that costs her her life.

As a Labrys player, I'd rather fight Mitsuru than Aigis, Chie, and Yosuke.

And I stand by that. :I

I can understand the case with Aigis, and kinda Yosuke due to him running around everywhere, but I'm not sure I totally understand the Mitsuru>Chie opponent preference, though that most likely is due to my lack of understanding and not playing Labrys to fully understand the matchup.

Stagger 5a is hella ambiguous likely. If done properly, Chie can probably run an entirely safe string all the while baiting the DP.

Chie doesn't have to respect Labrys' oki, Labrys' normals are too slow to poke her way out of pressure (even with IB), she can punish all of your whiffs, and if Labrys DPs, Chie can DP on reaction. And she hurts as much as Labrys does. :(

Basically, I spend the entire match blocking, and hoping that the Chie player will do something really dumb/risky.

So, if I'm reading that right...Chie's can DP when timed right to punich Labrys's DP? Hm...while I didn't think DPs were something you could well, counter DP on, I feel like I probably should've looked up and checked, if for the VS Chie match-bit if nothing else.

lol Labrys' DP is so horrible that plenty of characters can cancel their blockstrings into DP on reaction to punish it.

The issue is that Labrys' DP has super armour, so it'll absorb all incoming hits until it comes out. So, if a Chie is doing Chie pressure on you, then its start-up will be pretty long, and it's pretty easy to see coming and react appropriately.

Mind you, I believe characters other than Chie can do this with Labrys' DP, but since we were talking about Chie, I thought I would mention it.

edit: Haha, aisight beat me to it, but yeah~ :V

So, since Labrys' (and I assume Shabrys too) DP has Super Armour on the startup, if a Labrys/Shabrys does their DP on reaction, will the Super Armour of their DP absorb the other Labrys/Shabrys' DP?

Yeah. But it's still possible for the 2nd DP to lose if the first Labrys holds/charges their DP and the other Labrys doesn't. (Shabrys has super armor DP but can't charge it)

Oh right, forgot about the charge thing. I want to say that "in theory, the Labrys could anticipate the Chie player using their DP to counter and just charge their own DP to punish Chie's once the counter-frames wear off", but it's probably not that simple.
