Also, just a random bit/question. With Yu's oki, I tend to see a lot of people follow 5D up with either j.BB>Raging Lion, 662AA>2B, or Dashthrough>2B and stuff after. From some things I've seen, I haven't really noticed many people using sweep during the 5D forced block which I would think people would use as the overhead of Raging Lion might seem something that's expected so it would seem to make sense to assume they would block high. Just uh, thought I'd ask if you could shed some light on thing that might explain why that (at least from what I've seen) hasn't appeared to be a common continuation/follow-up, such as if it's a bad idea/why/etc. And if it is and I've just not been seeing it in the matches I've watched then apologies for wasting time.
It actually makes sense if you think it through. FIrst thing to consider, what can you get off of sweep into 5DD? Nothing much and it's going to going to be difficult to end it into a sweep into 5D again. Second, assume the speed of the attack. Empty jump into sweep is way more telling than empty jump 2A. Third, rule of thumb in fighters is block low, react to highs. No reason they should be losing to a sweep unless it's online. Raging Lion is easily reactable too. 4th, you're limiting your mixups to only one. If you do a j.B, you can jump over them for a left/right mixup with your 5DD. Empty jump 2A gives you a chance to roll if they blocked it to do another mixup. If they're in the corner, you can do raging lion after you 2As and combo off of it. The point is threatening them into blocking for a long period of time. This'll make them scared or reckless. If they turtle too much, you have the option to throw as well.

Thanks. That...actually helped a lot. Though I admit I (mistakenly, it seems) thought 5DD was mostly used in corners, while 5D was used for midscreen. It was kind of confusing to me at first in a sense since I initially thought that due to the animation of 5D (the blade sliding along the ground) that it must hit low instead of middle.

You should really save my matches, Livewire.

As for what looks low or high, record and play them in training mode. You've played BB and SF4, you should have a grasp that not all moves that look like they hit low do. Not even 2A in BB hits low.

Don't worry, I saved almost all of our matches the last time we played. I don't think you can save replays of other people in a room after they fight, otherwise I would've say...saved a few of you playing Aisight to get some ideas. It's funny you say that about training mode and record, as it's actually how I found out 5D didn't hit low.

Although honestly, it's better off watching better Narukamis on YT and streams if Narukami's all you're looking for. Watching me play online isn't great since people sometimes mash and break a Persona card off of my 5D which shouldn't happen.

And don't forget to look at the dustloop wiki. Frame data, hitboxes, and how to block it is all there.

I know I can watch plenty of videos and matches from SKD and others, for sure. I suppose I just figured that what you were getting at was that watching our matches helps show the benefits of your mixups and oki over the flaws and mistakes I was doing in them so that I could potentially accomplish 2 things at once at a semi-decent rate instead of 1 thing at a good rate.

Ah well, couldn't've joined in anyways, since I'll be heading to SoCal tonight.

My defensive game is hilarious and not recommended to follow - when I'm confident and my reads work I get massive rewards, but I also tend to freeze up and just block forever when I'm uncertain which lets people pressure me for free in the corner for like 30 seconds at a time. If you want a player good at blocking watch Japan vids.

You both should just come over to NJ so we can play here instead.

On a side note, I'm really sad :<. I wanted to lose with Aigis a bit.

Minato/Ankoku - good luck tomorrow! One of you should text me if you are gonna be on stream.

A Kanji that would block forever? I wouldn't have thought. You don't even need to churn butter in this game :V.

Though if it was against Yukiko or Naoto I guess.

This is my first grappler, I'm used to a decently fast character with stupid hitboxes and big damage but Kanji's only 2/3's of that so I feel lost a lot of the time.

Chat I had with Tec just yesterday

1:55:48 PM Minato: I had a dream where pools were posted and Aisight was in my pool a few days ago
1:55:52 PM Minato: I... hope that isn't true lol
Changed status to Online (1:56:11 PM)
1:56:16 PM Teczero: That...
1:56:24 PM Teczero: Is an interesting dream xD

Well this pool is gonna be tough with ZomB and T-Loc. lol

Edit: I guess my yomi is still activated when I sleep

How many people advance from pools, anyway? If it's 2 or 3 I'm potentially ****ed.

I believe it's top 2. Best of luck to both of us. The other brackets look pretty stacked too.
Also, not really sure who my first opponent is.

Looks like the schedule is finally up for the other games and my pool starts on Saturday instead of Friday.
Wish they had this up sooner but at least I get an extra day to improve and get better from this sickness.

Good luck to you guys in the pool and tourney post-pool. You guys don't have to fight each other right out of the gate, do you? And that's actually kinda funny you called it beforehand...sort of.

Good games Minato, I always enjoy playing with you. What would you suggest that I work on?

GGs, that was fun.

Stuff to work on, I'd say probably try to jump less if you can. Also try to figure out other oki or longer blockstrings.
As for punishing me, remember to run behind me if you blocked my DP. If I do a cross slash, just roll past me and punish if you're in neutral. If I do Ziodyne, I'm pretty sure you can do your super to go right through mine so I don't have the chance to OMC it.

Other than that, you do rather well considering the matchup. Just practice teching throws more and OMCing blocked GCs.

Yeah, trying to neutral jump out of blockstrings is the bane of my existence. And I like j.B way too much lol.

Someone tell me when I should be running/jumping. I think have a bad habit of always trying to airdash to move, so I always end up trying to jump after a blockstring. Or just use it to move overall.

Just watched one of my replays and I tried jumping like 4x in a row after blocking and the opponent whiffed. Then again my input sucks and I probably was trying to AD back 4x, lol.
