Jam: But on the other hand, mirrors have some very interesting interactions between offense and defense games. For example, Kanji is exceptionally easy to Fatal Counter into combo with Kanji, since his DP along with many other options simply don't leave the ground. And Yukiko can't actually try to time out Yukiko with projectile keepaway since that's just asking for holding Dia. She also can't do Fire Break setups as easily for the same reason.

That's true Aisight, dittos do force you to adjust the way you play to account for the matchup. But for a player like me who has a hard time adapting on the fly, that can prove extremely frustrating instead of exhilarating.

Oh yeah, so for Yukiko along with several others (I think there's maybe one or two exceptions?), autocombo from 5AA to 5AAA isn't close to tight on block and can get punished with all sorts of things. 5AAA isn't even that useful except for building meter, really, so it's good to be familiar with branching out your options from there (for example, you already do this with Labrys by doing 5AA sweep).

In Yukiko's case, she can jump cancel 5AA if you're suspecting a DP or a Kanji command grab (into j.44 j.3B, or air-turnaround j.44 j.A, or simply come down with a j.A), or 5B 5C 2C 236A to push back (can get DP'd at the beginning and during 5C 2C), or push back a fair distance with 4D/5D (can get DP'd by the faster ones), or attempt to force a high/low unblockable with 1D (can get mashed out of), or attempt to reset pressure with 236C (can get mashed out of).

With Fire Break equipped, Yukiko can 5AA 236A. The link between 5AA and 236A isn't tight, but the wing hit into the explosion is, so if they block the first three hits they'll be forced to eat the explosion... from there you can do things like immediately super-cancel into Agidyne, or use the knockdown to start pressure again.

I got that Mitsuru navigator by completing Akihiko's challenges, it's so sad that I don't even know any basic combos with him now.

Edit: If you want any Yosuke tips, I can message you sometime. My Yosuke isn't great, but my friend is a real threat with him.
There are lots of tricks and stuff I just can't get around, even with my Yu.

@Tec Lies. I have issues with Shabrys. Other than Mitsuru, I feel like I do better with Liz and Labrys. Which... doesn't make sense.

All the characters you played though made it so hard haha.

I admit, Liz is a character I still have no idea what to do vs. I like pieced together a few things I should try but its definitely not a whole strategy =/

I admittedly forget a bunch about how Shabrys was when I played against her, but I'm curious to hear why being on the ground against Liz with her is a good idea. Perhaps it's a lack of understanding the character that makes me question it, but it does have me wondering.

It's a match where Shabrys really wants to turtle up, and let Asterius do most of the work for her. Also, you don't want to challenge Liz's 2B at all, because it's a good anti-air and it breaks Asterius.

It's just a weird match-up, and it's better to play it on the safe side.

I was pleasantly surprised when it got announced, not gonna lie. And I don't want to say "told ya so xD" to Teczero, but....totally called you, Minato (and Aisight) heading to EVO if P4A made it in.

EVO's going to be so freaking huge that I legitimately want to head down for it, but since there's practically no jobs in the town I'm from, I'm currently poverty tier so unless I manage to be fortunate enough to start making some money it's gonna be tricky. Plus, Ontario's hella far to be making the trip...and yet I say that knowing MTL is still going to go, lol.

Also, after talking to Teczero a bit prior to the EVO reveal, I figure I'll try P4A again and see about actually giving it a solid chance this time. I do, after thinking on it, kinda feel like I started it because it was a new game and thought since I figured it'd be "like Blazblue, but faster" that I'd instantly get it and kinda let it really get to me when I didn't. So yeah, I'm gonna pick it up again and see about giving it the same kind of chance I gave Blazblue when I first picked it up all those years ago because well...just because you don't get something at first, doesn't mean you can't or won't.


Edit: Also, since it may need clarification, I'm not technically IN Ottawa, so much as I am in a town of like 4000, 45 minutes south of it, lol. Because yeah, I can imagine the "Ottawa + no jobs = what?" thing going on.

I'll probably enter P4U, SFXT, and possibly Marvel. I'd enter AE if I was able to catch up after all this time, but I don't see that as being realistic at the moment.
I'm hoping BBCP comes out before Evo so there's a side tourney hosted by people. If not, that's fine too and gives me more time to concentrate.
