Oh, but don't do Zios or C moves if I'm trying to position for a j.C or dive grab, since all of your Persona attacks have considerable recovery. :V

I'm going to Salt Fest this weekend. Any Persona players over in Utah worth mentioning?

Well damn, all the Carl's I've been fighting have been saying they feel they barely get any rewards from things, so I guess I just need to find some good ones.

Anyway though, original questions etc etc, still stand.

The same thing more or less applies to Aigis. She's got a really high executional barrier compared to the rest of the cast, but then she also has a ridiculous autopilot when in Orgia mode, between her fast and automatic air movement, air-tight high/low pressure mixups, and consistently dealing around 4,000 (5,000 for optimal combo) with 25 meter regardless of combo starter.

Also, despite being an incredibly strong character and having the highest character representation in Japan's ArcRevo, she's relatively unpopular here in North America and as far as I know there's only three players who have success with her here (Pain, 2GB, Matt Coma) (Xie's still in Japan).

Rewarding hard, or unrewarding hard in a BB Carl way? If you don't mind me asking though, what makes you say that?
I dunno, I find most hard obstacles rewarding, lol. I was also semi-joking. You can totally play her. It's just that she has lots and lots of tools you have to manage like her bullets, Persona counters, and understanding when to turning off and on Orgia mode, among other things. Her offense and defense is really good, but executions have to be pretty good as aisight pointed out.

I'm just thinking that if you're going to "pocket" her, you won't get too far, where you'll probably have an easier time with Akihiko. I'm honestly trying her out for myself and will give her a go this weekend if there will be a room. I'm trying to get away from Yukiko for a while since I'm developing habits that relate to her specific character. Probably could go into BB thinking I can hold down Sword Iris or something. Also planning on trying Yu if Aigis feels too weird for me.

Yeah, there has indeed seemed to be a number of different things she can do and things to pay attention to, though you might be right in saying that to play her well, you'd have to go all in. I'm just looking at different things to try since I've felt lately I may be slipping into an auto-pilot mode with Chie and I don't really know too much about Narukami despite how often I used to play him, so I'm kinda looking to freshen things up a bit. Plus, I figure dabbling in someone else for a bit might help me.

Though in response to Aisight's thing, I seem to remember someone else other than the 3 mentioned and Xie playing Aigis, and 2GB playing Chie. Though, at the time Dacidbro played Akihiko, and since you and Minato probably know more stuff on that than I do, I'm most likely remembering wrong.

In all honesty I think going all-in on just one character is more helpful than trying out a bunch. More than likely you'll end up reaching the same approximate level with each character, rather than truly developing both as a player and getting in-depth with character-specific mechanics. I've seen similar things happen in the local scene, where indecision on character choice just led to slowed down improvement.

I agree with aisight.

I think your time would be better spent on focusing on one character for the moment. If you want to get better with your character, disregard all subs. Not forever and ever, but at least for a while.

Hm, yeah I see what you guys are saying. I'm trying to describe what I've been experiencing, but the closest thing to it is what I'd call a "Character Wall", where I feel as if I've kind of reached a temporary progression wall with my Chie despite that seeing good Chie player matches will often cause me to look at what works for them and go "Ohhh, I get how that works!". That, and I'm kind of worried about pigeon-holing myself into a situation where I get so used to only using one character that the thought of using another is intimidating like what happened with Blazblue. I mean hell, it took AGES after I got used to Noel for me to even consider trying another character for things, and well...even then it's still technically Noel. :p

That being said, it's not like you guys haven't gone through some/most of this at one point and don't know your stuff, so, I can go and be curious by trying out another character at another time after I get competent enough.

Everybody hits walls and plateaus every now and again. Take a short break (a few days) or push yourself really hard to find something fresh to work on. I wouldn't worry about not being interested in trying other characters later either, there's a whole cast to choose from, and they're not going anywhere.

So, I've been watching some NCR videos, and came across a bunch of BurgerMcNasty's Chie gameplay. And uh, I was looking at some mixups and combo stuff he did and I was like "wait, how come I've NEVER seen or heard of half of this?". :awesome:

BurgerMcNasty is Bobby/DSMove. He's got some pretty nice tech, though I didn't remember seeing much new from NCR.

Yeah, it was just staple Chie stuff. The only thing he did that was not so common was landing a midscreen Fatal iirc.

But yeah, take note of his neutral game, Livewire. You should be picking opportune times to get in or out with her speed and abuse oki until you have meter.

Ohh, okay. Well if it helps, I actually haven't seen very many Chie matches lately, let alone any DSMoove matches, so maybe that's why. IDK. Still, that a lot of that stuff seemed so out of left field and "that works?" to me, shows how much I've got left to go.

Edit: Yeah, the neutral game is always stuff that's noteworthy since I admit that I have a pretty weak neutral game in general. I mean, my corner defense is lacking too, but that's sort of a different issue. It's always a bit eye opening seeing how good Chies play.

Back to not playing Persona and learning Iron Man infinites.

I would've definitely eaten that Cross Slash too lol. Luckily you were Kanji at near full health, so it didn't even matter.

How many people entered anyway?

Did anyone want to play some P4U tonight? I'm ok with BB as well.
I'll probably be on BB tonight as that's what I've been working on lately. I think next week though, I might start getting back into P4A, since I kinda feel now I took a step back at the right time and can work on it. Just promise me you guys'll be as bluntly honest with your input as necessary. :p
