Blake is decent at worst with every character. His peach and samus are pretty good. My peach is decent; Anthony's is better. Nick and Chewwy play ICs competently. You guys need to get out more!

That wasn't really directed at you. You travel more than almost any smasher I know, Josh. Truly an inspiration to us all. You've also gotten better than pretty much everybody else in the crew/affiliated crews besides possibly Anthony (but you did tap him last time you played, right?). The two are clearly connected (not to take away from your natural talent and capacity to learn).

He's up 2-1 in tournament sets i think.

But i definitely did tap <3

I hate how the system works though, when 2 people have counter characters for certain matchups it's all about who wins game one...even though i did lose game one last time we played and still won...>_>

The counterpick system is just as terrible as the current set of stages used to strike for game 1. It's w/e though, at least in Melee skill matters more than jank matchups and stages.

You make it sound like we're wrong for not traveling. An inspiration =/? More like too much time on one's hand. That's all Imma say on the matter though.

It us unfortunate for us homebodys who doesn't have the practice against the less played characters which I suck at i.e. peach, samus. Hmm maybe when I get a job, I'll go to more tourneys and smash fests since I'll actually have money. But wait, with a job then that means I won't have the time to do such things, funny how that works lol.

You do know that means less traveling right? Lol I don't want to scare you into adulthood but sadly it's true. Unless you work at a place where they don't care how much you take off to go to tourneys xD.

But on a serious note, good luck. Try payless I filled out an app like several days ago and they called back monday and I'll be goin in for an interview thursday.

You make it sound like it's wrong to try to succeed in a hobby. Some people make a living off of things like that. Amateur sports leagues, gambling, etc. There is nothing wrong with traveling to play smash, and to people who share the same hobby and are inspired to succeed in said hobby, it can be an inspiration to see what Dart has done in regards to traveling and his recent tournament achievements.

That's not what I was implying. This wouldn't be such a big issue if Luke hadn't mentioned "an inspiration to US all", like we all aspire to do such things. I have respect for anyone who does traveling for hobbies, but I took it at Luke tryin to make people who aren't inspired to feel guilty about it or somethin. Maybe that isn't what Luke was implying but I woulda chose his words more carefully. Like I said I have respect Josh for traveling, but I love the game and it's not really that worth it to do a **** ton of traveling when the outcome is you lose more than you put in it doesn't matter what type of one of these low profile hobbies you do, ultimately it's not worth it unless you're winning huge tourneys of these top of hobbies all the time.

So for me to say inspiring I would say no, definitely not worth it to traveling although you do meet cool people. But to waste so much money especially if it was none of your money to begin with, just generalizing. Luke shoulda said an inspiration to me, or to some. But not "us all"

tldr; i'm high right now, learning how to debate while under the influence. All of my **** is still valid though.

Yeah, ok, I'm sorry guys but we gotta get an idea of how each individual's situation is here.

I have a job where I'm working 25+ hours a week not including overtime, I'm getting GOOD grades in all of my classes(On top of that, I'm doing more credit hours than a full time student should be doing), I pay for insurance/rent/cell phone/personal food expenditures/gas/car repairs/etc and I have been working out lately to maintain physical wellness. I've noticed Josh does work out, but at this current point in time, he does not have a job and at least one of his classes I know he's not doing stupendous in. I'm not trying to trash on Josh by any means in this statement, but he has WAY more time that he's able to allocate to hobbies such as Smash than I do. Unfortunately, one of my work days falls on a weekend day(Sunday), so if I were to travel to play Smash, I would have to call this day off seeing as no one here seems to like to travel home the night after a tourney, and as a result, I'm losing money that I pretty much need. Honestly, I would LOVE to travel a lot more to go to tourneys because I love Melee, but tbh, life back at home comes first. It really sucks too because you typically become a better player when you're exposed to more Smasher's playstyles which kind of requires traveling, so to get better at this game to the point where you win $ from tourneys, you basically have to travel, which in turn, means I lose $ from calling off work initially in hopes that I will win tourneys in the future. Such a silly cycle, it sucks.

I'd really wish people would start seeing this kind of stuff from other people's perspective, and if they decide not to, they should keep their mouths shut because they clearly don't understand that traveling to tourneys on a common basis just won't work out.

Yeah, if you guys need practice against those characters, just play us (general Springfield crowd) more

imo:
Peach: Anthony > Luke > Blake (but I've really only played your peaches with Sheik & IC's)
Samus: Chewyy (when he's active) > Blake | I don't mean any offense Ripple, but he does main her and he knows what to do (you're just better overall) Substance > Flash
IC's: Me > Chewyy (I haven't seen him play IC's in melee much, if ever lol|he does have a pretty good luigi though)

Just organize some seriouslies or a mini-tournament and give us a heads up sometime :p Preferably, a weekend where you're wanting to play, not traveling elsewhere, and available/can make some free time.

Why would you need to practice against IC's, they're like the easiest characters to play against. Just do anything that can't be shieldgrabbed and keep doing it.
