Lava can be hotter than fire and fire can be hotter than lava; it's all relative. The thing is, the hotter the fire is, the more it's color changes. Red and orange fires are relatively low in temperature (relatively being the key word). Blue flames are much, much hotter. In this case, the type of fire that Ace is (red, orange, and yellow colored, or the cooler fires) isn't hot enough to melt rock, which is what lava (and Akainu) is. So in this scenario he is hotter than fire.

It might not be: when Luffy uunleashed the King's Haki, Ace said something along the lines of "You too" which may mean that he has haki as well.

You are right that the lava being more solid is a benefit; Ace mostly just burns things while Akainu can hit them and burn them. However, fire isn't just energy; it's just super heated gas. Yes, it is the transfer of a great deal of energy, but everything is a transfer of energy of some sorts.

It's true that fire is technically a chemical change in matter. But I don't think Oda is going to get that scientific on us! You can't have "pure fire" logia anyways because there has to be fuel (unless air counts?)...

I seriously hope we get an explanation for how haki works... like, soon...

Without the vivre card luffy and his crew are going to have a **** hard time meeting up again. I think Ace will get away barely. The vivre card didn't completely disappear, it was **** close. Ace is gonna have to at the very least say some kind of last words.

The chapter starts with everyone astonished.
Garp tells Sengoku he better stop me now, or I will kill Sakazuki.
Sengoku does so. Marco and Vista attacks Akainu.
Akainu says Haki users eh? This is troublesome, and attacks Ace again. Jinbei stops the attack.
flashback of Ace and Luffy. Ace says he misses even someone like Dadan now, thanks for the love he recieved.
The vivre card burns out. Luffy is seen with expression never seen before. end.

The pirates seemed shocked, Whitebeard is pale, and doesn't say a word.

Akainu: He's still breathing?
Akainu tries to finish off Ace. **** the *******.
Jinbei cuts in between them, and is burned to crisp.
Jinbei: I've already thrown away my life!

Sengoku stops Garp.
Garp: You better hold me down, Sengoku!! If not... I may kill Sakazuki!!
Sengoku: you fool...!

Luffy: Ace!! You promised me you won't die!!
Ace leans on Luffy,
Ace: Sorry, you couldn't save me...

Marco is freed by Mr3, and Marco and Vista both attack Akainu.
Akainu: Haki users eh? Well that's troublesome... give up on Fire-fist, he's done with.
Marco can't deny that claim, and regrets letting his guard down

Ace flashback, people are cursing Gold Roger and his blood.
people: The final words of son of Gold Roger better be "I'm sorry I was born at all"!

Ace: I didn't want fame... I just wanted to know if it was ok for me to be born at all into this world...
Luffy: Ace!!
Ace: I'm sorry about **** (sorry, some name I haven't seen before, don't recall). If you weren't there, I don't think I would have wanted to live.
Ace: Oh yeah, if you see Dadan, ask him how he's doing. Even a guy like him... I miss him now.
Ace: I can't raise my voice anymore... Luffy, you tell everyone.

Whitebeard has tears in his eyes, remembering how he met Ace.

Holy ****.

Luffy's Haki is gonna explode.

Actually I think Ace is going to
pull a "Pell" or be revived by Marco
, but we'll see.

I don't think Marco can revive people/heal their wounds. He is a phoenix, so he can heal himself. It's never been stated he can heal other people.


I still think this is the biggest spoiler I've ever seen. Holy ****.

Agreed.

This is HUUUUGGGE!

I still think that Ace might have a chance of someway surviving. All this just to have him die? There's just something about it that makes me feel it won't happen. If it does however, Oda is the the craziest man ever. Giving us a hope of him surviving and with it being so close he takes it away again V_V

I cbf putting spoiler tags so i will say it in a way that doesn't spoil anything but you still know what i mean. :p

Well i think this is a awesome chapter and can't wait until the next chapter i think everything will stay how it is so nothing magical is going to happen or a miracle everything will just stay the same.

I just can't wait to see the next chapter already.

edit: sigh, this reminds me of the deaths of itachi and kamina. the righteous, strong older brother who dies, believing with all their heart in their young kyodai.

anyone who thinks ace won't die is just in denial. it's hard to accept, i know...

vivre card is totally out, and with a dramatic scene like that there's no way he'll come back. this ain't dbz or naruto.

though i guess vegita and kakashi had dramatic death scenes and they came back... lol. but yeah, that's irrelevant

I say Papa Luffy pays Lil' Luffy a visit. Why?

1) Sanji is on ****** Island which is ruled by Ivankov and Robin was rescued in Tequila Wolf (Bridge place) by revolutionaries. If the crew are going to get back together, it will likely be at the revolutionaries hands.
2) Luffy now has a reason to hate the WG beyond them just being marines and him being a pirate. Papa Luffy will want to get to him while the fire is lit.

u have good points and it does seem like he might meet up with his dad soon but i don't believe his dad is going to go out of his way to have him join the revolutionary's. don't get me wrong his dad will probable ask him to join but for the most part it seems the D's just let people do what they want for example Garp wanted luffy to be a marine but he let luffy be a pirate, EX 2: Ace wanted luffy to join him and whitebeards crew but did not force him. I will say that luffy could easily take a far more anti WG stand right now which will lead to many future conflicts.

Ripping off naruto :laugh::laugh::laugh: i doubt it. Theres has been many mangas that has done time skips and to be honest this would be an appropriate time to do so.
And i read on forums that Oda said One Piece strong would be there last adventure together @ the age there @ now (something along those lines)

Poor Luffy

First He Loses His Nakama
Then He Loses His Friend Mr.2
He Tried His Best But Still Failed To Save Ace
Which means his promise to Mr.2 was broken as well

He is losing so much D:

Well he looks like he may just get knocked out thanks to all those hormones injected in him which could lead to him being knocked out for like a week or something.

Sigh. I don't even know how Luffy will make it out of this alive. Kizaru and the Kumas are there, and they can attack at the speed of light. He's already in terrible shape, but we don't even know what's gonna become of this battle! Ace is dead, Whitebeard is going to die soon (but not before a final attack I bet) and Marco/Vista don't seem strong enough to take on the admirals. Oda gave us so much home... and then shot it down again. I kinda knew it would happen, the whole arc's been a roller coaster... but I had no idea that this would happen to Ace.

My only question now is...

1. What will Whitebeard do before he dies?
2. HOW THE HELL IS LUFFY GONNA MAKE IT OUT OF THIS ALIVE?

Kinda makes me believe Virg's speculation about Dragon.

What i think will happen next chapter is this.

You will see everyone saying things like HE KILLED ACE etc. Then luffy will have flashbacks of everything such as his crew mates, mr.2 ace dieing him and ace in child hood.

After that you will see luffy rising slowly in a bad *** way with his hat down then he will do somthing CRAZY LIKE. I don't know what he will do because Oda you can never predict what is going to happen because Oda is just so good at what he does.

But yeah one piece is just too dam awesome. lol.

the only one i am aware of that had a time skip is naruto but it was foolish and short sited to think it was the only manga that had done that (lowers head in shame).

So are u saying oda said they will never age? i hope not that makes no sense to me people have spent their whole fictional life's trying to get one piece, no one should be able to just go get it within the same year he starts his journey

I said last adventure @ the age there @ now. meaning when we see them all together again they will be alittle older
