How do you people deal with olimar? I can't take it anymore, so I'm going to make a thread for advice how to beat him like a ****ing noob.

And before you ask, yes. I just got my *** handed to me by an olimar. I have never felt so useless in my life. He had...so many ways to keep me away.

Well it would help if you tell us what you have a hard time with(Exact).Does he Grab Camp?Is he being offensive?

Second,do not blow up on other people,It makes them not want to help you.

Yeah, he mostly grab camps.

There is a very specific strat I like to use against Olimar with GW that works even better with MK.

Ok, Olimar is good at camping. He has an amazing grab game, and he can pivot grab almost anything you do. His grabs have follow-ups a low%'s and blue/purple pikmin kill pretty fast at higher %'s from throws.

A key way to gain and keep the lead in this match-up is stage control. You want to put olimar in a position to where his options have more risk then reward and that will create oppertunities for you to punish and kill him. There are a couple of ways to go about this.

First of all you need to play carefully against Olimar. Don't be reckless unless you are both off the stage. Pay attention to his jump patters and when he likes to pivot grab, and what moves he uses before and after he grabs. It might suprise you how fast you can catch on to what he is doing and take advantage of it.

Lets take a look at the problems MK has in this match-up. Olimar can pivot grab almost any of MK's approachs and it's really dangerous to be abover Oli because of how good his Uair and Upsmash are. Olimar's moves arn't telegraphed at all because they all practically look the same, meaning you are going to have a hard time telling if he is grabbing or smashing for example. If you stay away from olimar he will just throw pikmin at you.

How do we overcome this? Stage positioning.

Approach olimar by walking towards him. Stay about 3-4 character lengths away so he can't grab you. Approach him slowly like this and SH fair/Ftilt/Dtilt towards him to bat away pikmin he is throwing at you. Eventually as he moves backwards he will get near the edge of the stage and this is where you take full advantage of him. At the edge of the stage, olimar isn't going to be able to pivot grab you. He can't camp you and his moves will actually become telegraphed(something that almost never applies to olimar) at the edge because of the lack of options he has. If you keep approaching him slowly like this you can punish pretty much anything he does and hopefully get a gimp off. Olimar will try really hard to get past you, probably going to a grab or just running past you. Staying in the air but close to the ground helps a lot in this position. Just fake him out if he upb b's you air approach and grabs your ground approach then dash to his grab range SH dair since Oli has no grab armor.
Then try dash to nado
and some dashing spotdodges.
even SHAD's
stuff like that.

Who is the Olimar? You might be losing because of something stupid that you are doing (bad habits, etc), and not just lack of matchup knowledge.

Good Olimars have A LOT on MK. Don't feel bad about this one. As everyone said, Olimar is light and easy to gimp, but the reason this one is a tricky matchup is the Master Captains have mastered the art of Don't Get Hit. When you get in his face and start beating up on him, the kill is inevitable. But Olimar is the King of Keep-Away, and even when you get in close he has a few advantages (non-telegraphed attacks keeps us guessing). Everyone has pretty much offered the best advice, especially kudos to Hylian! Help appreciated!

Well Olimar's ground game is what's gonna kill you. Then isn't the solution obvious? Stay in the air! Your fair out-prioritizes his. Your nair is a good air combo finisher. If the nair knocks the Olimar out then f***ing gimp 'em! Their so easy to gimp but only requires a bit of patience to get them off the stage. If they throw those vegetable people at you (Pikmin) then use a nair or fair but fair has less end lag but requires more accuracy to kill the Pikmin. If you're going against an Olimar n00b then kill all their Pikmin and **** them before they even have a chance to pluck more. Pluck you!

If you stay in the air but can't get Oli into the air, you're just as ****ed than you were on the ground. From Chain to USmash, Olimar has some impressive anti-aircraft guns. Approaching him from the air is just as bad as approaching through the Pikmin. And if you do knock him up (into the air, that is), you can come at him from below. His DAir is quick and gets you before you can get him with UAir. Yeah, you can use SL, but then you can't follow up till you've touched down again (barring glide attack). It's a tough match-up no matter how you look at it. I truly believe the only thing that may keep this one slightly MK favor and not neutral is the good captain's recovery issues.

What do you mean "You people"?

But srsly. Space, wait for an opening, then go in for damage. Learn the different Pikmin colors and what he'll do with them (ie. Purple is grab, etc.). His grab range is huge and you definitely don't want to get grabbed, so stay in the air a lot. Planking may seem like a good idea to avoid his sideB camping, but keep in mind that his upB stage spikes.

Planking may seem like a good idea to avoid his sideB camping, but keep in mind that his upB stage spikes.
he can also grab you while you're hanging off the ledge if you're not careful. seriously wtf is that =(
