It has something to do with edges on all levels. In fact it is most commonly seen on Brinstar when coming up through breakable floor and being too close to one of the edges. The same thing happens with Falco's Phantasm if aimed correctly and Kirby's final cutter can "insta-land" on the edges of stages. From what I have been told, you use a move that would put you in an awkward position when it finishes (such as inside the stage), so the game's programing takes over and says "no, instead we put you on the stage/in the air/beneath the stage". it all depends on where you hit the ledge

This is common with phantasm. It needs **** good spacing. But it's good.

Did this stuff often with a lot of different chars and moves.
But with Mk it seems to be to hard to pull of constantly to use it in real gameplay.
More of a happens rarely randomly gimmick.
Just be prepared that this can happen sometimes.

This happens all the time, especially on FD.

I don't see any practical applications with it, though.

For marth, this cuts ALL RCO lag. One guy came close to being able to recreate it, but in the end it was just too hard.

Didn't know Metaknight had one. Heck, maybe every character with an auto-grab property has one.

I'm pretty sure all characters can do this with certain moves, I'm not convinced it only has to do with auto-grab tho because when I first looked into this sometime last year, I made a post on the Kirby boards (which was then moved somewhere else by a mod). I was able to recreate it (although not consistently) with a number of characters (I tested them all). I only tested Up-B, and only on brinstar after having split the stage and along the inner part of the right side (where you cannot grab), but it worked. What would happen is the character would up-b trough the floor and then weird stuff would happen. for example, Dedede and Kirby's up-b's would stop on the level and they would land with the ending frames of the moves (for D3 his stars came out and the hitbox underneath him and for Kirby, the blade launched).

I then tested Dedede and Kirby on battlefield edges, but they tended to autograb more than "insta-land/cancel on the edge" you needed to come up just at the right spot, I got it to work pretty well for Kirby, but it was harder for D3 likely because he is a larger character.

I think all this stuff is related

It's a mix-up.

If you're trying to edgeguard someone by overb'ing to the ledge they'll time their recovery so that your ledge invincibility is worn out. This allows you to trick a person into thinking you're hogging the ledge allowing you to gain your invincibility frames a few seconds later when they're unprepared allowing for probably a more successful edgehog.

I wonder if it has anything to do with holding down.

I always tend to avoid the ledge because I hate how my ledge grabs increase xD

Unless you're planking someone (and planking them pretty hard at that) you really shouldn't be worried. 35 (MLG standards) is a lot, and most TOs have an even higher LGL rule.

On point with this topic, I agree with Affinity, this is too impractical.

I believe that it involves whiffing or tippering the auto-snap (commonly by going above it).

LGL is 50 in Finland, but I still seem to avoid ledges unless necessary.
The only thing that 50 LGL will stop is constant perfect planking. Really, any decent and safe planking that isn't involving constantly re-grabbing the ledge can easily time out a 10 minute match without passing 50 ledge grabs.
