finaly, yoshi shoulda been comfirmed along time ago(well he kinda was with the stage and music, and emblem). Im very intrested in to see how much his up B makes him move, it also seems to me that we will get his FS this week. Something about how sakuri said that last part makes me hopeful for it.

Hmm, I don't think I like the new design. Those plates on his back used to be spikey in Melee which made him look a bit like a dinosaur, the round ones of the new design look just stupid if you ask me. At least the didn't make him stand upright and cut his tail like in most other games using the new design.

But the egg-toss-third-jump-replace thing sounds interesting, I've always had a few issues in Melee when the lack of a third jump made my recovery perfectly predictable.

Egg Toss recovery is good. I would have been ok without it, but I'll take it. Let him jump out of the shield and consider him my main...

Yea, not being able to be poked is good. If they let him jump out of sheilds that would be great for him.

I always thought it was a saddle too. I think it was originally supposed to be a saddle, and then they decided it was a shell later when Yoshi started being used for more than just a ride.

i already like this new recovery idea. more people will pick yoshi and that's great news!

You're right. Melee Yoshi would have been MUCH better if he could have jumped out of his shield. He couldn't capitalize when someone attacked his shield. All he could do was roll around. I hope this has been fixed.

I like both Melee's design as well as this new one, but I'm a little concerned that they have shortened his tail!!! His down-smash and down-tilt are awesome and have so much range in Melee... I really hope they don't take that away in Brawl. That, and of course his double jump cancels and his instant edge grab!

But man, so excited to see how his new Egg Toss will help his recovery. What I'm curious to know is if it would actually help his recovery AFTER being hit in the air. Because, as it is right now, he has a easy enough time getting back with his second jump, but it's when he gets knocked back during the second jump that makes him vulnerable...

I'm thinking, his Egg Toss will carry Yoshi up and forward just a little bit (maybe as much as Mario's up-B) and with it he'll be able to sweet spot the edge like every other character. I'm guessing, since the egg will be tossed upwards, it will also help shield him against people who try to edge guard.

It's not a third jump, it "increases the distance of his jump." I'm just not entirely sure what that means.

Yeah, he did pretty well without a 3rd jump before. Sometimes he'd come out of nowhere from the bottom of the screen like Fox.

No surprise here.. This is the third update they've done for Yoshi now..They really must like him.
I think the extended jump is a good idea, but I can't seem to wrap my mind around how it works either.

His design couldn't of really been improved by much, but it does look somewhat better.
Someone hue me a yellow Yoshi so I can put it as my desktop :D

Among other things, he can now use his up special move, the Egg Toss, to increase the distance of his jump.

First of all, I'd like to point out that edge egging (throwing eggs off of the ledge), will never be easier! Secondly, the part of the quote above "Among other things" sort of rouses me up as well. Now I just wonder if Yoshi's second jump will still be as godly.

I didnt want a humanoid Yoshi design, but this one is great, it has touches of both dinosaur and humanoid Yoshi... He still runs like the dinosaur Yoshi, which is good. I didnt want to see him running with his arms at his sides like in Yoshi's Story. A minor thing, but for me, details are important, especially for my main...

The only worries I have are the range of his tail moves. That stubby tail of Brawl Yoshi might decrease the range of his down tilt and awesome down smash. Perhaps Sakurai will let them stretch some to compensate. I am aware that they do in Melee...

About his Up B "recovery", Im psyched! But, how will it work? Will it push him up whenever he uses Up B in the air, or will it work like Mewtwo, where if he uses Up B as he reaches the height of his second jump, he flies up further?

I say that instead of his second jump being the flutter kick, his up B(while used in air) will cause him to flutter and throw an egg at the same time. His second jump will just be a regular jump. When he uses his up B on the ground it'll just throw an egg like normal.

I thought, when I read about the up B extending his jump, that it would just be him doing a horizontal hover while he was in the act of throwing the egg. Nothing major, just something to mix up the recovery a little. Because, honestly, Yoshi doesn't need any more distance on his recovery.

This Yoshi has been around for awhile now. CHeck up on Yoshi's Story, or even the Mario party games.

i;m totally with you...the design is just ugly....tho he did have the brown boots and a similar saddle and also we have seen yoshi with rounded spikes before ....but STILL the design is ugly

my BIGGEST qualm is the look of his eyes....they look dull ...sorta drugged out

and his nose is enormous and SO spherical that it doesn't even look like he can actually SEE over it! it actually looks like he;s blowing a big green piece of bubble gum thats taking over his face! compare this to the melee version---where his nose is brought down slightly so he actually CAN see over it...

the design is weak---has a lack of detail and looks very immature--and the stance he's in as his main picture looks like something barney would do....not yoshi

he looks freakish---sry everybody----i just don;t like the redesign one bit

i;m glad it sounds like his moves are gonna be improved but aesthetically i'm not feeling it...

He's just alot more childish looking now.....the ONLY detail I'm somewhat impressed with is where you can see his vien on his arm

I don't like the shoes or his tail. I will get over the rest, infact I already have... I don't have to mind about the shoes too much because I will not play as that color and hopefully the color swap will swap his shoes. His tail will be easy to get over and I can't get mad at the brawl team, they are doing great work. Yoshi, Wario, and Bowser and my three favorite mario characters so..... Yeah. They remade Bowser great and I actually like Wario's suit and how it is different than the normal mario swap, he doesn't look too bloated.

RIGHT ON, BROTHER!

I've been worried about whether they'd use human or raptor Yoshi since the Bowser update.

I HATE humanoid Yoshi. How are you supposed to ride it? The "saddle" looks specifically made to be as uncomfortable as possible, standing upright means you'd be have to glue your butt to him to sit against gravity and splint your back so your head isn't dragged across the ground, and the fact that he's a foot tall means only a mexican baby could ride him, which totally goes with his look of a kids' show host.

The Melee Yoshi, made with technology from SIX YEARS ago, has better texture and looks more realistic. I was hoping for some realistic scales. I mean, they gave DONKEY KONG, an APE, FUR! Instead, we get a plushie. The green of his back and white of his belly look SEWN TOGETHER. They put more effort into his shoes, which are still WRONG (IE, not red. But, also, even on his newer designs, the sole aren't burn-your-retina yellow). His nose has cancer, his spines are big warts, his thighs give away his pie-addiction, and his tail totally needs some viagra.

Overall, this model looks like it was taken right from a Mario Party game. Why even bother giving him his own symbol at this point? Just more proof that Sakurai doesn't know what the hell he's doing anymore.

PS, anyone notice his tongue?

I think that, in practice, the differences are going to be negligible. I love Yoshi as much as the next guy but I don't think the new look is that much worse, or that much different.
