If Takamaru is in, I WILL use him. His game is awesome, and HE is awesome as well.


Oh, and Marth is not Japan exclusive anymore. There's a dubbed Fire Emblem OVA out there in F.Y.E. and I own a copy (vcr) Marth speaks in fluent english.

Seriously, who wanted Geno in when Brawl was announced? Probably not a huge amount. But this wierd, random character from 10 years ago suddenly gains a huge surge of popularity! And the supporters say that since he's from an old game, that that actually HELPS his chances instead of HINDERING them!

I just don't get why people get obsessed with random characters from the past, including Takamura.

actually, A huge amount of people DID want Geno in brawl, including Sakurai... he had four votes on the poll, and as a comparison; Ridley also had four (and he's so likely that he might as well be labeled as confirmed), and Dedede had five (who is already in). the poll is based on how much that character was requested, as well as what characters Sakurai would like to include.

Takamaru is just about as random as Pit, in that they are both old games that are sister games to currently HUGE franchises (Kid Icarus-Metroid, Nazo no Murasame jou-Zelda)

he also got three votes on Sakurais Polls, which shows that a lot of people, as well as Sakurai, want him in brawl. he's not random in the LEAST.

it really helps to know what your talking about before doing... what ever it is your trying to do...

Maybe it's probably because...

1.- They have all the right to be in?

2.- Newschool games = Nice games, Oldschool games = AWESOME games?

3.- Characters from the past are a lot more unique and original than new ones?

4.- Brawl is not a popularity contest?

5.- We support MAIN characters? Not some wannabe villain ripoff another one?

6.- Making a thread will make people know the character so that they won't WHINE LIKE BABIES when they're announced and they don't know them?

7.- Maybe everyone wants them in cause they actually get to SEE they have potential?

8.- Classic games hold all the original ideas and concepts (not some recycled crap used over and over again), and people really care for this? (Specially the Japanese, thank God)

9.- Old videogames BUILT Nintendo, and some people are grateful for that?

10.- Those games were really fun, and people feel they need to be represented over a third representative of Donkey Kong?


I don't know... I ask myself instead what's wrong with people wanting popular TRASH characters instead of important MAIN characters from as many different franchises as possible.

It's not like this game is just Mario vs Pokemon vs Zelda vs Kirby. :/

the disk system was a major console. it was the debut of zelda and metroid for pete's sake.

A lot of ATs use katanas. Sakurai is striving for originality in each character's moveset, so Takamaru will most likely be the only samurai-like character in brawl, since the rest were AT'd. so the fact that every other samurai-like character has been AT'd raises Takamaru's chances of being playable.

It's kind of unfair. If anything, it's making way for Takamaru. He has a lot to offer that other swordsmen don't. That and there isn't anything they could do with Takamaru as an AT at this point. I mean, what's left? We have Samurai Goroh chasing people and delivering multiple slashes, Lyn using a lightning-fast slash and most of all a blade wielder who also has projectiles is already AT'd. Really, they're shooting down Takamaru's competition.

But yeah, Takamaru would be awesome. We'd probably be a swift as sheik with a reach about the same as Marth, but not as strong. He also could have some nice projectiles with his kunai knives, fireballs, etc. I imagine he'd play somewhat similarly to Kenshin in Jump Ultimate Stars, but with projectiles.

Samurai Goroh = Chases hacks and slashes.

Lyn = Stands and slashes lightning fast.

Grey Fox = Chases and slashes as well as reflect projectiles.

Saki = Slash with explosive slice attacks.

Takamaru = Chase and slash again?

Yeah. Nazo no Murasame jou has to be like the easiest Nintendo property NES game for them to translate. What's holding them back!? It's so awesome. T.T They could easily have what little dialogue there is translated and coded in under a day.

I know. ^.^ You're exercizing your point, and I'm making my own. Sword wielders are really popular, and we don't want too many sword wielders for Brawl so a lot of them are going to be AT'd in favour of other characters.

I mean, at this point we're 100% sure to get Marth/Sigurd and Ganondorf (who will probably have a sword), so Takamaru has plenty of room.

Main characters from a single, relatively unknown game, as opposed to a representative from the 4th largest franchise that Nintendo has?

You have a point here, I'll admit. But you should change the (when) to an (if).

A lot of characters have potential. That doesn't mean that they should get in.

Of course, many times ideas are recycled because they are decent, and deserve to be used again.

Yeah, but we already have two representatives, probably soon to be three with Game & Watch. There isn't really a reason to add more.

Basically, I don't understand why people take characters from old games and declare that they suddenly have a huge chance. I mean, if they never turned into a franchise, then they probably weren't good enough to warrant one. Of course, I must admit that sometimes potential franchises get overlooked when there are a lot of good ones being released at the same time.
