pika is harder to kill than people give him credit for and because of his small size, mobility, and camping game he has an easier time than most avoiding kill moves in the first place, much easier than snake in that regard IMO

Pikachu has some kick *** momentum canceling tactics. I have seen Anther lives to absurd percents for a light weight.

And sometimes when I'm trying to do Vertical DI i fastfall a Bair because it puts you further away from the blastzone off the top.

And guys just keep practicing it. Good Di should be a reactionary and second nature action for all skilled players.

Hi all, I was wondering if using Bair for all momentum cancelling purposes would be wise and also I'd like to ask what are some good options for recovery seeing how I am too predictable xD

Yeah I die too early for a Snake
I usually die around 200% - 215% on stages like Final Destination.
Alot higher on stages like Temple.

I'm getting a PS2 for my Birthday for MGS3. Anyone one here, especially MGS fans, want to tell me what game is better:

-MGS3
-MGS4 (I already have..)
-MGS2

It'll help me decide if MGS3 is worth getting (Since MGS4 was eazyy even on the harder settings)

Me and Pika live a long time, unless I get an Utilt in (which is hard) or he gets a thunderspike (-_-')

I don't Bair is much worse, if any. I just try to use it because then I don't use Bair for horizontal, which is worse than Uair I think.

I try, do you watch you opponent and react when you see an attack, or can you like... know when its coming?

Bair isn't bad, but airdodge (then jump if you won't live otherwise) is best for horizontal survival. Bair also isn't bad for vertical, but I find (and someone else done tests) than fastfall Uair makes you live longest.

Recovering from horizontal flight, unless you're fighting Pika, recover high. Go for the ledge if you can't go high, and from here do... something. My ledge stuff sucks.

o.o I usually live to around 160-170 on Final. And temple, it depends if I do underground or not.

results of my testing IIRC were

vertical knockback: uair > bair > everything else, dair is used kinda often by snakes I've seen but is actually pretty horrible

horizontal knockback: air dodge > bair > uair > everything else

MGS3 is my favorite MGS game, get subsistence though it has a better camera and a lot of extra features.

It's at the point where I know when an attack is coming. And plus when you have whiffed an attack or ****ed up...you know it. So you should prepare for the worst lol

Isn't that risky?

Sounds like you're harboring the mentality that youre gonna get hit all the time when a spot/roll can potentially save you..

Otherwise for hits you KNOW that are coming I can understand..(shield break, lingering attacks)

typically you know when you make a mistake, you're gonna get punished. at least this way it won't end up so bad.

A good covering option is to soft lob nade or reverse soft lob nade when you are really high up and follow it by moving towards it or my favorite b reverse soft lob which will get a double explosion near the ground.

How long? My friend lives as long as me, and he's Pika.
Pikachu is not easy to kill. He's so small and he can chaingrab the **** out of Snake if we're too near or if he attempts going near us. Good thing we have the projectile advantage.

pikachu's camp game flows from the frame trap it creates more than the projectile itself. if he just sits back spamming thunder jolts at you he'll lose, but laggy methods of dealing with it like jab(turbo) or utilt aren't a good idea IMO

Or just jab it, lmao.
I never liked trying to clank with projectiles because I always thought it induced more lag than simply powershielding. Not really sure to be honest. Plus, its extra powershield practice in general for those pesky falcoflys.

Does anyone else feel really accomplished after some good SDI? Like... major teleporting ftw.

And does anyone know how far each input moves you?

I love it, I will try to do this more

my SDI has gotten worse over time, I used to be able to do things like SDIing out of GAW's bair and bairing him back consistently or SDIing peaches dair to uair her, I can't really do either most of the time now...peach is a ****ing pain in the *** when her dair is actually usable...

then again it's like 10 degrees outside lately, cold hands johns :/

My SDI has greatly improved over the past year. I SDI out half of MK's moves now lol And Wario's Dair. And a lot of other ****. I do screw up sometimes though.

I'm pretty consistent at getting out of diddy's fsmash provided I have a feeling it's coming. Punishing with bair/uair is really difficult, though.

Sdi-ing mk's fair and Nair help heaps with that mu, but it's so hard!

how many of you also SDI more on prediction? I only try to react on that, the consequences of a wrong read seem too great to me...

Ummm it stands for Quarter Circle DI. Basically you move the analog stick back and forth in quarter circles in the direction you want to go. It makes you go so far. Doesn't work for Cstick though
