I recently got a Dazzle Video Creator Plus, so now I can actually make good videos and not bootleg them with my Xbox live Vision camera.

I played Falco from April to August, Picked up Lucario in July, and since then Falco has been neglected. I recently started to pick him up again, now that I've learned key aspects of what it takes to be good in brawl (SPACING). I'm really just looking for an overall rating and possibly a few tips.

Also, I really see no use for Utilt. Could someone explain that to me?

And one last thing. If anyone has a Dazzle Video Recorder Plus, is it possible to get better youtube quality than the video I posted?

Thanks in advance
:D

Can't wait for my dazzle to arrive in the mail. I already know how to get good quality with minimal size, so send me an email or PM for the 'guide' to encoding.

Anyway about the video. I thought your falco was great. I particularly like your use of reflector as a spacing tool. Like you've said, you have definitely learnt spacing very well. One thing that bothered me though was your SHDL. Both of the lasers seemed to be going over luigi, and not hitting him unless he was on a platform. Also, don't follow up a chaingrab with usmash, unless its a gattling combo. Personally I like following up with nair after dthrow.

Ozz taught me that utilt is great after spotdodges. And it is. It's a good move to use when you're in the right place to pop your opponent into the air. I would also like to see more use of ftilt since it's a good spacing tool and it's quite quick.

Anyway good falco, I've recently picked up lucario but I'm still going to be playing falco more.
Send us a PM or email for the recording tips.

At low percents, do Utilt out of a dash attack. Dash attack -> Utilt -> Utilt is pimp.

As Vlade said, it destroys spot dodge spamming.

If it's fresh, it actually becomes a kill option. When your opponent seems to be predicting and avoiding your normal kill moves and you've got him way beyond the damage you want to be killing at, throw an Utilt out as a surprise move. It's got more knockback than you'd expect.

i like to cancel my nair into utilt, it is a pretty good combo. utilt can also juggle at lower %s. and like others have said, at higher %s i like to use it as a kill move. it comes out quick and they don't expect it usually.

use moar lasers!

I just learned how to SHDL properly today xD

Nair out of Dthrow?
Dash Attack-Utilt-Utilt?

Never thought of that!

You can also do Dair - Uptilt. Or jab x2 - uptilt.

Kinda random, but i play a very good kirby player, and i just couldn't get the kill on him. I was bringing him up to about 200%, so now that i think about it, i think we should use uptilt as a main killer against kirby, because its very hard to kill a good kirby player.

New videos are going to be added throughout tonight.

The videos are new, but the matches themselves are a few days old.

Looks like my 'guide' to the better quality helped :D

I lack campiness :p
Why yes it did :)
Only thing is, When I try to render it as a WMV file, it takes FOREVER. I'm guessing there's no way around it?

Yeah it depends how good your pc is. If it's a really good computer then it won't take too long. It doesn't really matter, if it takes a long time the job still gets done anyway.

Gotcha. Did you notice anything different in my style, or anything that needs to worked on? I've tried emphasizing my play on Spacing and Punishing now.
I'll admit, my CGs were a little off, but these matches occured between 1-6AM LOL

Also Vlade, I can't find you on Youtube :O

CG's were a bit off, and it looked like you tried to turn it around with a regular pivot grab instead of the boost pivot grab (which obviously doesn't work).

Your SHDL was way off; get to working on that (the seccond laser should be at the same height as an SHL).

Only one jab before grabbing, more than that gives your opponent too much time to react.

That's all I can think of for now.

Note: vids of you three-stocking opponents aren't always the best when your looking for critique.

Alright, well. I watched one against the Marth player, and there were a few things. As mentioned above, the SHDL's second laser should be the same height as the SHL is. When performing this, short hop then pause for an instant then hit B only twice. It's really routine after you get it down, and in match ups such as Falco vs. Marth, you'll need it.

Don't be afraid to CG, it's your friend. Although you can't really CG Marth, in other situations, definitely do CG to spike.

Last thing I'd have to say is that you weren't campy enough in this match up. This match up is so irritating for Falco players, so you really need to use the laser to your advantage. Using SHL to a buffered Usmash or Ftilt is very useful, or even reflector.

Keep working on it. :) Falco gets easier to play as you get more consistent with lasers.

My youtube account is o0vlade0o, but the videos that have been uploaded are terrible quality since I was still messing around with settings.

As for your videos:

Against Marth your spacing messed up several times throughout the match, so you took a number of fsmashes which were ALMOST tippered. Good mindgames with the chaingrab though, you know what you're doing there. Just remember that you can dair after a dthrow at low % against marth. At 2:25 I think it was, you autocancelled a nair into dtilt. I highly recommend you autocancel it into utilt since it's quicker and pops the opponent into the air which is really good against characters like marth, snake and ROB.

Get the proper timing down for SHDL, if you're versing a character like MK or kirby you're going to struggle to hit with the second laser. Wait a bit before you tap B twice.

It's difficult to critique a video where you 3 stock an opponent :p In all the videos that I uploaded for others to critique I lost the matches. I could've easily uploaded a match where I ripped him apart, but it is better to upload close matches so people can point out any flaws since we will be observing it more critically. If you're 3-stocking him then we're observing it as if it were entertainment (not saying that watching matches where falco loses isn't entertaining, but you know what I mean.

But yeah, you get my drift.

Agreed. It's much easier to critique a video of you losing or a close match. We want to critique your problems so we can help resolve them, but if we get a video where you win, it's harder to critique them. :p

Thanks guys :)
Oh yeah. I know how to SHDL properly, but I tend to do it on the smaller characters anyways. For the taller ones, I SHL or just SHDL the way you guys saw. The reason is because the timing for SHDL isn't committed to my muscle memory yet. I have to LISTEN for the faint jump sound and then laser. I'll try to incorporate it into ACTUAL matches from now on.

As far as the Dthrow->Dair on Marth goes, how would you follow that up? Another Dthrow->Dair? I know Marths tend to Dolphin Slash out of CGs, so I usually just wait for that and punish accordingly, as in the video.

Also, not trying to brag, nor put anyone down, but in my area there isn't anyone who can really BEAT me. Like my friends, they can pull wins, but they can't BEAT me. I would go on Wi-fi, but I don't have a stable connection. The only times I get chances to fight some of the better people in my area are on tournament days, and those are once a month :/. I'll try to get some videos against them, but that won't be for a while. A close match, I'll be able to get videos of that however.

I've never really TRIED it, but I'm guessing Jab-Jab-Grab WON'T work? Also, I won't lie, these matches were from 12-6AM LOL, but thats no reason to mess up on a CG :/
Thanks. And if you can think of anything else, let me know.

honestly kid, i very much enjoyed your videos, really. the thing i only have to say is ( like everyone else) is to try and get those lasers down. a big thing that helped me, overall, was getting timing down NOT on short hops, so instead of timing the jump, you actually can visually tell where to laser. this obviously only counts for a single laser. what i mean is, jump, jump again>immediate dair, then try to time a laser so it's silent as you hit the ground, or something similiar. im confident you know how to shdl, it just hasn't become second nature yet, so i won't lecture about that lol also, remember that falco can walljump. i noticed in those smashville matches you wasted precious time firebirding very close to the stage when you could have walljump>phantasm for some quick, unexpected damage.

... that was really long and i apologize, i just see potential =] lol
