So I stayed up for several hours on Monday self-learing some Ice Climber chain grabs. My respect for EA has now improved quite significantly, lol.

I can't do them perfectly, but I can string a few of them together, and even do the finishing dthrow-to-spike. This was just for fun though. I won't be maining ICs anytime soon; I'll be sticking with the spammy Pit I know everyone loves =)

hahaha. learn pit good man, pit is so freakin impossible to deal with (grab) when he's camping right.

btw invisi, I posted the brawl vids I put up in the ACL thread, in case you didn't see. I know you were asking for them so yeah.

Yea, I saw those, thanks. I'm kinda slowly going through em, quite a bit of footage there =)

I have no idea how you do that fthrow to fthrow; I tried it and didn't really get anywhere. I've been using the bthrow to dthrow, which has the bonus of not requiring much space since you turn around. If I want to move them closer to the edge for the spike I'll fthrow with nana instead of dthrow, then run past with popo and pivot grab, but I lose that one a lot because it has to be so precise...

the secret to fthrow is that its timing never changes from character to character (some characters have ******** fthrow spacings though). so basically the answer is sheer quantity of practice.

Yea I thought that might be the case. I noticed the timing changes depending on the size of the opponent, which caught me off guard. Though I'm guessing apart from the consistent timing it seems a bit harder than the other chains.

eh, personally I find it the easiest of the three, though that might be the practice talking. the other two have weird dynamics that don't sit well with me (turnaround grab vs pivot grab for bthrow, platform crap and required extra actions for dthrow). sure fthrow has the spacing dynamic, but you can get away with a stock spacing on most characters, and the fixed timing is a huge plus. i've been a huge proponent of doing fthrow at all times ever since I discovered the throw release is on frame 25 for everyone.

that said, recently I've been thinking about changing how I approch cgs fundamentally. I'll probably start learning cgs that minimise mashout and tripping potential, while maximising efficiency and flexibility. basically just a focus on higher quality cgs rather than the more intuitive ones. should be good.

Yes, I have msn, but I hardly ever used it

I finish uni at 2 on a Friday, but ironically enough, my Friday evenings are taken up by a smash meet. A uni society holds a weekly games & pizza night, so we bring a wii and set up brawl. There's a few of us there: Fishy and Enemy, as well as Fishy's doubles parter (I forget what screen name he uses) who were at ACL, another friend who mains Jiggs/Ness and is probably better than me, plus whoever else is there on the night and wants to join in.

I might mention it to them and see if we might come one week, but then again, it is in the Blue Mountains... I could borrow mum's car to get up there, but even then I'd be competing with peak hour traffic. Anyway yea I'll mention it to them tomorrow and if interest is there we could organise to come one week.

Which uni is your meets at?
I go to unsw and live on campus. although I usually drive from work (star city casino) which either finishes about 12noon if I'm on morning shift and 4am if on night shift. (usually will stay at EAs place until it's time to leave when on nights)

If your Friday classes finish at 2pm it may not be worth your while to travel so far. However during mid semester break and after end of semester exams you guys could make a day of it. I may be able to help with lifts as well assuming my work cooperates.

I go to USyd, and live in Concord (right next to the beginning of the M4). If I did try to come on a Friday, I'd probably couldn't leave much earlier than 3:30 if I'm by myself, or possibly later if I'm taking people. I'm probably not the best judge of how long it takes to get to traverse the length of the M4, but I know on a Friday afternoon it can be quite cluttered.

If we did try to come during semester we'd probably get a few hours in (although I don't know how late you guys stay), but as you suggested it's probably better just to come up during the mid semester break.
