I improve by playing to look good on youtube. Check out my recent set vs KnightPraetor (the tournament set, not the biased friendly) ^.^

??? is the only way I can improve

(someone should tell me what it is because I don't know any ways at the moment)
Well I would just recommend doing what I do, which is start with arrogantly high confidence and work from there. lol It's not even about confidence that you will be able to do what you want in game. You almost have to view your opponent as inferior and stupid, and when I go into games with that mentality it's like my brain picks up on their inferior/stupid decisions much more easily because I expect them to be there. It's like walking down the street and finding a dollar bill by sheer chance vs. walking down the street looking over every inch for every dime you can find.

If you're focused on the match as an objective subject, you'll come to the conclusion that you probably won't win, and your brain just subconsciously takes note of every time you get outplayed and it takes too big of a toll on your focus. That's just how I tend to think about it, but I just naturally have this mindset so I'm not sure if it's actually recommended for people to try to force themselves into it because I definitely don't think it's the only kind of mindset that can lead to improvement. With some aspects of the game, it seems easier to improve when I approach it with a sort of robotic attitude of no emotions at all. That's sort of how my brain is when I'm practicing tech skill because I am concerned with consistency above all, or if I am doing guaranteed stuff like tech chasing or chain grabbing where all I have to do is read DI and punish.

That seems like advice on how to play better in the match, not how to improve.

I think I already play like that (assume my opponent will make mistakes or that I can outplay them), but idk who knows. I know I could use way better mental fortitude during the games, but I feel like even when I'm playing my best I still am fairly average. I try to approach friendlies critically and analytically but I don't know how to improve my neutral game, execution, responses to pressure, etc.

Yeah, I guess I kinda went off on a tangent. lol It's just a close connection between my mentality on how to improve as well as how to do well in matches in general. Outside of my in-game mentality, I just practice tech skill and watch vids and think of new tactics I can use (I have quite a few tricks up my sleeve now that I've never seen anyone do before, hehe). But I'm sure you know all that jazz already. lol I will say that I personally don't like to go into every friendly with a try-hard attitude just because the harder you try when you're not in the mood, the harder it is to tell the difference between you playing really well, which is what I think you were referring to anyway. I'd rather just play like a dumb*** for a game or two and get destroyed so I can LEGITIMATELY get focused because I am actually upset.

I will get 3-stocked and go "Alright, WTF am I doing. I'm going to ****ing destroy this game." I know for a fact that this sort of mentality has helped me make comebacks. A lot of my tournament sets have had me getting pwned the first 2-3 stocks, and then I just pick it up and do so much better. Obviously I should just be playing good from the beginning, but I am definitely getting better at just turning on my try-hard when I feel like it (turbooooooo lol).

Bones I'll play your Falco with my Marth for some friendlies.

also when is rom? lol I'm so outa touch with events
Sure thang, though I need Falcon practice too. I got stomped by Nando... literally. x_x

RoM is the 19th-20th.
