stop trolling one wrod or you'll get room banned.
how am i trolling?

seriously i could post anything, no matter how honest and non-judgmental, and you'd still call it trolling

Also KFC doesn't go to enough tournaments to begin with. So the tournaments he goes to that have only 2 ppl ranked attending or one... isnt as helpful to when he goes to a tournament with 8 -10 out of the 15 ranked ppl go to at another tournament.
yeah that's very true and it makes it basically impossible to make a case for jr based on merit

that's where i feel like skill should come in tho. i mean let's get real, the people who know the game know where the skill levels fall. like pocky said reading into a small number of tournies is dumb. thinking about it logically it's silly to be at the whim of a small number of tournies. isn't the point of the panels to be able to discern the sometimes minute skill differences and not have to rely so much on tourny results? that's why they're the panelists: the community is supposed to trust their judgment in skill even when short-term tourny results may suggest differently.

We do it on more then just skill level. We know to a good extent what everyone's skill level is but we also want to know how well they would do in local and national tournaments.

Example: We picked Joe 15th because though he did well in socal, what makes us so sure his skill level can match those above him on the ranking. Like I said they are VERY close in skill lvl but its ranking want to point out, who will do well at a tournament all the time. If u then beat ppl on the list at a consistent lvl, u start to get higher on the rankings. We take into account for skill level and tournament results.

falcomist your posts are nearly incomprehensible

All this controversy is pretty fun, but it seems like the PR is out of whack anyway. You guys should wait longer so people don't think it's BS...

...like what's happening now.

edit: adam thanks for arguing my case LOL
These rankings aren't really important to me, anyways, since they're more like a tournament record than a measure of skill.

i have serious issues with using the previous/existing rankings when determining the strength of a win/loss (and of course bigger issues with moving people down solely because of inactivity instead of just removing them, though that didn't happen in this one so i'm satisfied there :) ) -_-

if DP's appearance and first set of relevant accomplishments in the period was enough to start him off at 9th, it's kind of wrong to see him as "unranked" when viewing others' (kfc's in particular i guess? i don't know enough about the specific results, but this was already given as an example so i'm running with it) wins

judging how strong a win/loss is is something that i feel should be done at an almost completely subjective level - if you rely on prior rankings, you are merely compounding error with each passing period

in reality, the system i like is

1) subjectively separate players into tiers
2) rank players within a tier by looking at their results
3) when you need to refer to another player to gauge strength of win/loss, refer to them only by their newly-determined tier, instead of their prior "number"

the problem is that you're assessing a player's opponents' "current" skill based on their accomplishments prior to the current period (i.e. a win against player X for the period ending March 30th is judged by player X's skills as of the period ending February 10th)

edit: on a side note, get wrecked fox mains! I think every single fox player dropped rankings-wise (besides zelgadis who is now 'sheik' :) ). fox is soooo broken!

Not a bad start but I do think the panelist should rethink the DP placing.

Phil also shouldn't be drop down to almost last for doing bad at one tournament.

Then again who cares this was updated to quickly.

you want results....... lets just put it this way. i got first and last place -_- not only did nobody outside the 8 of my friends show up, but the ******* girl who awas supposed to cover my shift at work didnt show up so i ended up having to wrap it up at 2 and go to work for 10 ****in hours! so i guess its a good thing no body showed up. anyways i dont think im ever hosting a tournament ever again. iv been planning this thing for months and NOBODY showed (except my crew). the tournament scene has become so common that nobody wants to drive more than 15 minutes to compete cause they know something closer will be happening the next week if not the same week. i used to pull in competition from HELLA areas. sacremento, stockton, modesto, freemont, san francisco, livermore, antioch. now everyone just goes to closer events! anyways its been a long mutha ****in day, everything has come in the way of this tourny happening, my boss is an *******, i hate customers, my ex, my car and coworkers, and every other lil thing that got to me today. d*mn its time for a beer..........

No one really wanted to go. Poor guy. We weren't that excited for a Brawl tournament right after the release... We just wanted to play.

Haha, yeah. I still remembered we took a match off of Phil & Lucien. Peach/puff vs. Sheik/Fox on Brinstar. Me and McCain could actually communicate.
