Most communities I've been to, Shantae has a much larger following. She's definitely more comparable to Geno.

Once again a statement that is meant in general is taken as for smash.Shantae fans(Atleast the ones i know) have never called her a frontrunner and if they had they are delusional.True they would like to see her in the game at some point or another but know its unlikely(which can be said for any character) but voted for her anyway just because they like the character.An in shantae defence she did have support pre-smash 4 but it small and i'll give you that it start growing around ballot time but i refuse to admit it just popped up like a certain puppet.I'll give you the first and the thrid one.The second one not so much seeing as you can buy all 3 shantae games on the nintendo e-shop in Both U.S. and Europe(who we as a community seem to forget plays a role in the ballot.Not that it will help shantae much just a statement) so its only really obsure in Japan

I remember as soon as Cave Story 3D was announced, many people in the comments were like "OMG I HOPE THIS MEANS QUOTE IS IN SMASH."... And some even thought Nintendo was doing this remake even though they have literally nothing to do with the Cave Story remake like... at all.

Basically, YouTube Smash Bros fans are gullible and way too excitable over anything that is a massive stretch.

Their is actually a cult following of Shantae in Japan tho, heck a company called intergrow is actually in the process of localizing Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's cut in Japan. So who knows if she'll gain more of a following once the game hits. And even I think you're wrong when you compared Shantae's popularity to Geno. Also I don't think Sakurai ever said indies are excluded from the ballot or any video game character of that matter being Nintendo or Non-Nintendo, I always thought of this ballot as a suggestion box not much a popularity contest.

Geno represent something way different than Shantae, the shape is not everything about the characters like calling them 3rd party, but its more important to know what do they "represent".

Geno has been here since 1995
shantae has been here since 2012 (nobody remember her in 2002)
Geno is reconizable by Square classic fans and Nintendo fans and popular in the interenet since 2006 (Forest maze duh).
Shantae is reconizable by Smash fans and wayfoard fans.
Geno is Mario character and being in a Mario game make you very popular, thanks to the fans for making people feels that he is still alive.
Shantae is recently just some eshop characters like Shovel knight.

Hm, looking at the blob, I'm almost completely certain it's connected to Zygarde. The red spot in its midsection is a hexagon, a thematic element belonging only to Zygarde, and their shapes are somewhat reminiscent of each other (though the blob is more like a flatworm then a snake). Plus, it seems like the blobs are combining at the end of the trailer in a green explosion, and considering we don't ever see Zygarde in its regular form, it could be that they're either calling or combining into the big snake.

If the former's true, I think they'll be a Carbink/Diancie case with the previous theory we put out being correct (they monitor the world for Zygarde), if it's the latter, then they may be forms of it instead.

Yeah, he is popular and don't get me wrong I've seen many fans who have requested him throughout the internet. But people really shouldn't downplay Shantae just because she is a Indie Character or Third Party Character thinking she has absolutely no chance making into the Smash Bros Franchise we could see her make it into DLC or She could possibly be saved for Smash 5 I don't know I'm not Sakurai. All I know is that she has been more popular since 2010, But was praised back in 2002. And I'll just say this I respect every character choice in this ballot and hope that everybody can at least get what character that they want out of this ballot may it be Smash 4 DLC or Smash 5. So with that I hope I can shake your virtual hand and say good luck.
