Rhythm Heaven is very popular with Women in JapanWho do guys think would be chosen for male and female demo graphics anyway?
Funny thing, it was the exact opposite back in the day with this site having a very vocal Krystal base and Wolf being popular in Japan. Amazing what a voice actor leak can doWho is the opposite of that though, popular in Japan but not outside of it. ...Krystal?
Well, in that case...if we do, by chance, get a character to represent the female demographic, it will probably be this guy:Rhythm Heaven is very popular with Women in Japan
Animal Crossing is popular with women too
Waifu characterWhat if...
It's western male.
Western female.
Japanese male.
Japanese female?
I think you're giving Japan too much credit, after all, they create all the husbandos and waifus weebs weeb over.Waifu character
Husbando character
Actual character #1
Actual character #2
Tl;dr West is a bunch of weebs
I'll tell you in ~2 weeks .So... Daisy incoming for female audience rep?
I've been thinking about the East vs. West thing is possible too. Isaac would be a good fit for that since he's almost exclusively popular outside of Japan. Who is the opposite of that though, popular in Japan but not outside of it. ...Krystal?
More shenanigans from Michael here:This is amazing *NSFW language warning*
I read that as 'Nintendo bought Hudson IP' and got excited for Bomberman. y u do dis?http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/08/nintendo_is_licensing_hudson_soft_ip_from_konami
Not sure if
Anyone think Nintendo would licence more of Hudson soft's IP from Konami?
This is why we need GC Virtual Console and a larger variety on the Wii VCI really want to play Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn but they're $400 combined on ebay. Wut.
Dang, I remember when I got my used copy of Path of Radiance for $37 and thought it was expensive.I really want to play Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn but they're $400 combined on ebay. Wut.
Couldn't agree more. I would buy so many GC games. I still have a few Wii games but definitely have some holes in my collection. This is why we need GC Virtual Console and a larger variety on the Wii VC
Definitely the semi-clones for me. I was actually disappointed that Smash 4 didn't add any new semi-clones in the same way that Brawl did. I love the way a semi-clone can mix up a different character's moveset to make it their own which can affect the outcome of different match ups and how the character is played in general. I greatly enjoy playing Toon Link over regular Link, and Lucas over Ness. It's cool that it takes slightly less development time to create a semi-clone character, and I like to be able to have that choice.Would you want two unique characters or four semi-clones? Let's say the semis are at least Smash 4 Marth/Roy levels of different. And which characters would you want?
Well Bomberman isn't completely dead it seems.http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/08/nintendo_is_licensing_hudson_soft_ip_from_konami

This isn't really related to your post, but looking at your signature...Definitely the semi-clones for me. Now if I actually had to choose four different ones I'd probably go with Toon Zelda, Dixie Kong, Wolf, and a semi-cloned Pichu.
Oh yeah, definitely. Tetra is probably my #1 pick for a DLC character. She would add a new motif to Smash since there's no pirate character as of yet, she could have a unique moveset based around trap setting to create pressure, and she could be there to help represent WWHD on the Wii U while also getting people interested in checking out the new Hyrule Warriors port when they see her on the cover. I would love to be able to have her as a character that I could co-main with Toon Link. This isn't really related to your post, but looking at your signature...
Tetra would be a fantastic choice for DLC, IMO. New Zelda rep which people are asking for, could appeal to a female demographic also, she was pretty well received for Hyrule Warriors 3DS (no one cared about the King). She also has no current in-game role and could give Toon Link a partner-in-crime.
Interesting theory actually. And it seems plausible, not as much the examples you gave though. I absolutely don't see Lip or Impa ever being in Smash, especially as fan-service DLC. (I also question that if immense popularity wasn't enough to get K. Rool in, then Isaac's moderate popularity wouldn't be enough to get him in either).I just realized.
Remember when Sakurai said that Lucas and Roy were popular characters from Melee and Brawl respectively?
What if the reason was because he's looking for characters in certain categories?
For example...
Overall popular character: (plus that he's a veteran)
Brawl veteran:
Melee veteran:
Third Party Character:
What if the remaining ballot characters were simply going to be chosen from a certain type that they are looking for?
For example, let's say that they're interested in...
Zelda Character: Impa
New Series: Isaac
Retro Character: Lip
Another Overall Popular Character: Wolf
Am I on to something here or?
That's hidden gems for you. Either dirt cheap for terribly expensive. PoR is the best game in the series IMO, and objectively they have the best storyline.I really want to play Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn but they're $400 combined on ebay. Wut.
Welp looks like Konami is making itself slowly implode. Its only really a matter of time before all the devs they have leave. I don't think most o the employees will stick around if the staff members are being moved around, even more so if they get put into jobs where the skills they have are no use, I mean who the hell makes a game developer a Security guard? The 2 not really have skills that crossover all that well.Speaking of Konami
http://www.siliconera.com/2015/08/03/report-things-havent-been-looking-great-for-konamis-employees/
Never have I wanted a company to go out of business so much. I wish the devs could just leave and start their own indy studio or something, Konami itself is absolutely toxic and has to go.
Depends on who the characters are. Since I do enjoy semi-clones, really want Wolf back, and feel like 4 unique playstyles is better than 2, I would probably go with the that option.Would you want two unique characters or four semi-clones? Let's say the semis are at least Smash 4 Marth/Roy levels of different. And which characters would you want?

Replace grab with New Rod, make it a tether, and BAM! You have a movesetI made a Pokemon Trainer moveset/concept idea. Took a while to make, lol. I haven't made a moveset in a while and I decided I wanted to do something really big.

POKEMON SYSTEM
The majority of Pokemon Trainer's moves involve him/her quickly throwing Pokemon out to do his moves for him similarly to Pikmin. Pokemon getting deployed is instantaneous as soon as a button is pressed, displaying a fast white flash followed by the Pokemon in question performing the attack. After the attack frames have ceased, the Pokemon remains for a few more frames (it can't be knocked away or harmed at this stage) before returning to its Pokeball wherever the Trainer is located.
The Pokemon themselves can be knocked away, canceling the attack and dealing direct damage to the Trainer. However, the attack priority varies like any other attacks in the game, making this mostly a visual element. Essentially, PT's hitboxes extend through the Pokemon appearing (generally) in front of him or within his own hitbox.
Some of the Pokemon are a bit different, but they'll be noted below.
STANDARDS
Jab: Pokemon Trainer releases a Meowth who quickly begins to do a swiping jab that locks an opponent until Meowth finishes with a strong swipe.
Dash Attack: Scizor is released in front of the Trainer and does a long and powerful claw sweep.
Forward Tilt: The Trainer takes out an Old Rod and whacks an opponent.
Up Tilt: Cubone appears on Trainer's shoulder and does an overhead swing.
Down Tilt: A Diglet pops up from the ground in front of Trainer. Can cause tripping effect.
AERIALS
Nair: Zubat appears on Trainer's chest and screeches, covering Trainer in a ring of distressing sound that does small bursts of damage the longer you're caught in it. This attack autocancels.
Fair: Pokemon Trainer holds a Wheezing as he moves forward while the Wheezing releases gasses. Good out of grab combos and locks opponents into multiple bits of the attack before pushing them away. The attack has a small wind box that punishes you for missing by pushing the opponent a short distance away.
Bair: Pokemon Trainer holds a Staryu behind him that shoots a few short-range projectile shots. These shots pull the opponent towards the Staryu.
Uair: Butterfree appears above Trainer and flaps its wings upwards. The attack has a large wind box and does low amounts of damage, making it effective for resetting certain situations.
Dair: Pokemon Trainer holds a Beedrill with its spikes pointed downwards. The attack is a spike attack at the tip of Beedrill's spikes, but otherwise it will send an opponent off to the side.
Zair: Pokemon Trainer releases a short range rope. Does no damage and has no hitbox unlike other Zairs, but it's still effective as a tether recovery.
SMASH ATTACKS
Forward Smash: Machoke appears and begins to raise his fists the longer you charge the attack. When the actual attack is performed, the opponent is locked into a close combat set of punches with a four fist finisher that sends them flying. Early kill move, but it has a lot of start-up lag and end lag.
Up Smash: Alakazam appears in front of Pokemon Trainer and raises his spoons in the air. When the attack occurs, a shockwave of psychic energy appears above the spoons and traps/sucks opponents near the attack into it. As a finisher, Alakazam swipes his spoons away, causing a telekinetic explosion. Like the above, it's an effectively early kill move with some laggy drawbacks.
Down Smash: Pokemon Trainer will stand in place the longer you charge this attack until you release the button, releasing Electrode from a Pokeball. Electrode stays wherever you released him, and he explodes within a few seconds. The explosion is harsh and kills very easily, but is obviously very easy to read. The explosion is stronger based on how long you charged it. One second after being deployed, any player walking into Electrode's frames will cause it to explode immediately.
SPECIALS
B: Pokeball
Pokemon Trainer quickly takes out a Pokeball and throws it at a midrange distance. If it connects with a target, it will do flinching damage before "capturing" the opponent similar to Yoshi's Egg Lay. At higher damage, it becomes harder to break out of. Mashing buttons helps get out faster.
If the Pokeball doesn't hit a target, it hits the ground and becomes an active item. Any player can pick it up and throw it, and hitting someone with it will result in the above. Pokeballs stay active unheld/unused for about five seconds. Only one Pokeball can be active at a time. The type of Pokeball aesthetic will be randomly based on one of the 26 types, seen here:
Forward B: Running Shoes
Pokemon Trainer raises his hand, causing his feet to glow. With this, he's put on his Running Shoes. Pokemon Trainer passively gains twice the running speed for ten seconds. After use, this move has a cooldown of twenty seconds. His speed in this state can be compared to Captain Falcon's running speed, if a little bit faster.
Up B: Fly
A Pokeball quickly opens, revealing Pidgeot. Pidgeot grapples onto Trainer's shoulders with its talons, lifting him into the air in a similar manner to Duck Hunt's recovery. Predictable, but has good vertical and horizontal distance.
Down B: Potion
Pokemon Trainer takes out a potion and sprays himself with it. It heals 1% a second, but has a long start up and end lag, with the Trainer slowly taking it out and slowly putting it back.
FINAL SMASH: Triple Finish
Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres appear from three different Pokeballs and perform a three beam elemental attack that shoots forward. During this, a text box in the style of Red/Blue appears saying "Go! Triple Finish!".
MISCELLANEOUS MOVES
Grab: Tentacruel is released and grabs an opponent.
Pummel: Tentacruel squeezes an opponent with its tentacles, healing Pokemon Trainer for 1% and dealing 1% with each Pummel.
Forward Throw: Tentacruel tosses the opponent forward. Minimal knockback, high hit stun.
Back Throw: Tentacruel twirls before throwing an opponent backwards. The attack has high knockback and is a viable kill move at higher percents.
Down Throw: Tentacruel slams the opponent onto the ground, sending them upwards. Good combo starter.
Up Throw: Tentacruel raises himself in the air before slinging an opponent upwards.
Spot Dodge: Pokemon Trainer is shielded by Ghastly.
Air Dodge: Pokemon Trainer is shielded by Ghastly in midair.
Taunt 1: Pokemon Trainer releases a random Pokemon from his/her arsenal and does a smug pose with them.
Taunt 2: Pokemon Trainer raises a hand in the air whole holding the iconic Pokeball.
Taunt 3: Pokemon Trainer displays a full badge case and smirks.
Pokedex Entries: By repeatedly hitting the taunt buttons while fighting any Pokemon character, you'll get a Pokedex entry on them.
Victory Animation 1: Pokemon Trainer rides his/her bike along the screen before stopping and looking at the viewer.
Victory Animation 2: Pokemon Trainer pets a Meowth.
Victory Animation 3: Pokemon Trainer holds the Pokedex towards the viewer while smiling. The Pokedex has a clearly visible render of the character he just beat.
There is no reason she couldn't be. She has a Bubble Gum gun, and their is no way they wouldn't incorporate it in the game. Many of her normals would be fairly different because of the hair, and her up special would also likely be her helicopter twirl, but the rest of her specials and some of her normals could ape Diddys style perfectly well.I die a little inside every time someone says Dixie would be a semi-clone of Diddy.
would =/= couldI die a little inside every time someone says Dixie would be a semi-clone of Diddy.
Literally going through all of Diddy's moves, I can maybe see the Banana as the only move that would be even slightly appropriate for Dixie. There is no reason she couldn't be. No, look at Wolf and Lucas. They would share animations, perhaps one or two A moves, and have thematically connected special moves (with the exception of her recover.)Welp. This Konami report is pretty interesting.

Maybe if they go under Nintendo can buy Bomberman.I'm only semi serial

I wouldn't even imagine the Bubble Gun to function anything like Diddy's charge and explode.
So unless the definition of Semi-Clone is being changed to mean that characters like Shulk or Ryu are Semis too, I really can't comprehend anyone thinking Dixie even could be a Semi-clone without being completely bastardised.
