Dixie can be unique, but she's also similar to Diddy, I wouldn't mind whatever they decide her
The only thing she has ever done similar to Diddy is having a pop gun.

This strikes me as the same as people who would say ''Rosalina would just be a Peach clone." before she got revealed.

I'm aware that Diddy and Dixie are different enough, I just wanted to say that whatever they choose for Dixie, be it an original moveset or a semi-cloned moveset, I wouldn't mind, I'd be happy to see the character

Speaking of K. Rool, have people been suggesting he use his many personas and costumes as a moveset?

Because that might have actually hurt him in the ballot.

Can you imagine not only the work load, but the potential to have issues with the dreaded 3DS?

If he truly isn't happening, he could've been Ice Climbered.

It's more or a could than a would with most people. It's just that we can see it happen, not that we don't think she can be fully unique.

Umm... What all this Dixie would NEVAR be a semi-clone. She had slightly different fall physics and speed to Diddy along with her helicopter hair but otherwise plays identically to him in the DK games. Change Up-B to Tropical Freeze's double jump, give her her dash attack reanimate tail attacks to use ponytail. I want Dixie to be her own chimp but it's not as if she'd never be a semi.

That's a different scenario, suggesting alternative costumes doesn't mean it'll actually happen, IC had limitations based on their already established movesets

Wayforward confirmed better than Ewbisoft, at least they didn't say 'wait for an announcement' or some ********

Etika is like your bird call. You apppear everytime one of his video is dropped
And my posts trashing Etika's content tend to be a bird call for Etika fans. They always appear, quote my post, and say something like "wow u really dun like etika" or "why you gotta bash etika whenever ppl post about him".

I disagree.

After the whole "See you in Smash! ;)" fiasco, I think the developers of Shantae are among the worst at handling these things.

I made a Pokemon Trainer moveset/concept idea. Took a while to make, lol. I haven't made a moveset in a while and I decided I wanted to do something really big.

POKEMON TRAINER

Stats/Attributes:

-Middleweight
-Somewhat tall
-Fast Faller
-Normal run speed
-Slow walk speed

Costumes: 8 Male, 8 Female:

Male:
-Red (Brawl)
-Blue (HG/SS)
-Steven Stone (Omega)
-Rocket Grunt (HG/SS)
-Brock (HG/SS)
-Eusine (HG/SS)
-Brendan (Omega)
-Calem (X/Y)

Female:
-Leaf (FR/LG)
-Serena (X/Y)
-Cynthia (D/P)
-Misty (HG/SS)
-May (Omega)
-Flannery (Omega)
-Sabrina (HG/SS)
-Female Rocket Grunt (HG/SS)

POKEMON SYSTEM

The majority of Pokemon Trainer's moves involve him/her quickly throwing Pokemon out to do his moves for him similarly to Pikmin. Pokemon getting deployed is instantaneous as soon as a button is pressed, displaying a fast white flash followed by the Pokemon in question performing the attack. After the attack frames have ceased, the Pokemon remains for a few more frames (it can't be knocked away or harmed at this stage) before returning to its Pokeball wherever the Trainer is located.

The Pokemon themselves can be knocked away, canceling the attack and dealing direct damage to the Trainer. However, the attack priority varies like any other attacks in the game, making this mostly a visual element. Essentially, PT's hitboxes extend through the Pokemon appearing (generally) in front of him or within his own hitbox.

Some of the Pokemon are a bit different, but they'll be noted below.

STANDARDS

Jab: Pokemon Trainer releases a Meowth who quickly begins to do a swiping jab that locks an opponent until Meowth finishes with a strong swipe.

Dash Attack: Scizor is released in front of the Trainer and does a long and powerful claw sweep.

Forward Tilt: The Trainer takes out an Old Rod and whacks an opponent.
Up Tilt: Cubone appears on Trainer's shoulder and does an overhead swing.
Down Tilt: A Diglet pops up from the ground in front of Trainer. Can cause tripping effect.

AERIALS

Nair: Zubat appears on Trainer's chest and screeches, covering Trainer in a ring of distressing sound that does small bursts of damage the longer you're caught in it. This attack autocancels.

Fair: Pokemon Trainer holds a Wheezing as he moves forward while the Wheezing releases gasses. Good out of grab combos and locks opponents into multiple bits of the attack before pushing them away. The attack has a small wind box that punishes you for missing by pushing the opponent a short distance away.

Bair: Pokemon Trainer holds a Staryu behind him that shoots a few short-range projectile shots. These shots pull the opponent towards the Staryu.

Uair: Butterfree appears above Trainer and flaps its wings upwards. The attack has a large wind box and does low amounts of damage, making it effective for resetting certain situations.

Dair: Pokemon Trainer holds a Beedrill with its spikes pointed downwards. The attack is a spike attack at the tip of Beedrill's spikes, but otherwise it will send an opponent off to the side.

Zair: Pokemon Trainer releases a short range rope. Does no damage and has no hitbox unlike other Zairs, but it's still effective as a tether recovery.

SMASH ATTACKS

Forward Smash: Machoke appears and begins to raise his fists the longer you charge the attack. When the actual attack is performed, the opponent is locked into a close combat set of punches with a four fist finisher that sends them flying. Early kill move, but it has a lot of start-up lag and end lag.

Up Smash: Alakazam appears in front of Pokemon Trainer and raises his spoons in the air. When the attack occurs, a shockwave of psychic energy appears above the spoons and traps/sucks opponents near the attack into it. As a finisher, Alakazam swipes his spoons away, causing a telekinetic explosion. Like the above, it's an effectively early kill move with some laggy drawbacks.

Down Smash: Pokemon Trainer will stand in place the longer you charge this attack until you release the button, releasing Electrode from a Pokeball. Electrode stays wherever you released him, and he explodes within a few seconds. The explosion is harsh and kills very easily, but is obviously very easy to read. The explosion is stronger based on how long you charged it. One second after being deployed, any player walking into Electrode's frames will cause it to explode immediately.

SPECIALS

B: Pokeball

Pokemon Trainer quickly takes out a Pokeball and throws it at a midrange distance. If it connects with a target, it will do flinching damage before "capturing" the opponent similar to Yoshi's Egg Lay. At higher damage, it becomes harder to break out of. Mashing buttons helps get out faster.

If the Pokeball doesn't hit a target, it hits the ground and becomes an active item. Any player can pick it up and throw it, and hitting someone with it will result in the above. Pokeballs stay active unheld/unused for about five seconds. Only one Pokeball can be active at a time. The type of Pokeball aesthetic will be randomly based on one of the 26 types, seen here:

Forward B: Running Shoes

Pokemon Trainer raises his hand, causing his feet to glow. With this, he's put on his Running Shoes. Pokemon Trainer passively gains twice the running speed for ten seconds. After use, this move has a cooldown of twenty seconds. His speed in this state can be compared to Captain Falcon's running speed, if a little bit faster.

Up B: Fly

A Pokeball quickly opens, revealing Pidgeot. Pidgeot grapples onto Trainer's shoulders with its talons, lifting him into the air in a similar manner to Duck Hunt's recovery. Predictable, but has good vertical and horizontal distance.

Down B: Potion

Pokemon Trainer takes out a potion and sprays himself with it. It heals 1% a second, but has a long start up and end lag, with the Trainer slowly taking it out and slowly putting it back.

FINAL SMASH: Triple Finish

Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres appear from three different Pokeballs and perform a three beam elemental attack that shoots forward. During this, a text box in the style of Red/Blue appears saying "Go! Triple Finish!".

MISCELLANEOUS MOVES

Grab: Tentacruel is released and grabs an opponent.
Pummel: Tentacruel squeezes an opponent with its tentacles, healing Pokemon Trainer for 1% and dealing 1% with each Pummel.

Forward Throw: Tentacruel tosses the opponent forward. Minimal knockback, high hit stun.
Back Throw: Tentacruel twirls before throwing an opponent backwards. The attack has high knockback and is a viable kill move at higher percents.
Down Throw: Tentacruel slams the opponent onto the ground, sending them upwards. Good combo starter.
Up Throw: Tentacruel raises himself in the air before slinging an opponent upwards.

Spot Dodge: Pokemon Trainer is shielded by Ghastly.
Air Dodge: Pokemon Trainer is shielded by Ghastly in midair.

Taunt 1: Pokemon Trainer releases a random Pokemon from his/her arsenal and does a smug pose with them.
Taunt 2: Pokemon Trainer raises a hand in the air whole holding the iconic Pokeball.
Taunt 3: Pokemon Trainer displays a full badge case and smirks.

Pokedex Entries: By repeatedly hitting the taunt buttons while fighting any Pokemon character, you'll get a Pokedex entry on them.

Victory Animation 1: Pokemon Trainer rides his/her bike along the screen before stopping and looking at the viewer.
Victory Animation 2: Pokemon Trainer pets a Meowth.
Victory Animation 3: Pokemon Trainer holds the Pokedex towards the viewer while smiling. The Pokedex has a clearly visible render of the character he just beat.
i love the idea of pokemon trainer so this is great
i just think the alt choices are weird and should probably just be the different playable characters - i mean, eusine over anything from gen 5?

No, look at Wolf and Lucas. They would share animations, perhaps one or two A moves, and have thematically connected special moves (with the exception of her recover.)
Apples and oranges.
I can't comment on Lucas as I've never played any Mother games, but Wolf is from a series were every character basically sits in an arwing (or in his case a Wolfen). Each of the B moves in Smash represents a function from the vehicle.

So they essentially made him as unique as they could make him while still adhering to how he should play. By giving him completely unique animations and functions (within reason) for all of his B moves, while giving him a completely unique set of A moves to showcase his species' individuality, and his ruthless personality.

Dixie's gameplay has always been different from Diddy's. Her physics, her moves, her strengths, her weaknesses. They're different from Diddy. Always. They don't even stand similarly, she's nearly always depicted with her knuckles touching the floor, while Diddy stands completely erect. She's always been as different to Diddy and Donkey, as Diddy and Donkey are from eachother. And those two play nothing alike in Smash.

The only thing she's ever shared with Diddy is a similar size and body shape.

Nobody wants Dixie to be a Diddy clone but she will have something from him and will be based off of him due to having a similar model structure.

She won't be as fast or agile as him but has distinct differences that would make her something like :4jigglypuff:.

Having small similarities like one or two Smash attacks, few normals like aerials and tilts but has radically different specials and playstyles that makes her an overall unique character.

This is a good video about Red Arse
Only time I'll ever agree with Jim Sterling in most cases.

tourney mode is poo poo

Also hi.
Ain't that bad. Tried it at a friend's place and isn't the worst thing but needs some kinks work out of it

You can very much tell Wolf was a last minute addition in Brawl.
He shares a few known animations.
His sleeping and Clapping animations being two of them.
They also removed Lucas' unique clapping animation this game.
Wolf actually has an unused multijab like Fox too iirc, glad they didn't though

Seriously? Why? There's no reason

It's not the worst thing, but they had almost a year to work on this. What happened. lol

And on the topic of Dixie being a clone, she shouldn't. Simple as that.

It was still irresponsible.

I knew it didn't mean anything, but parts of the Smash fanbase will take literally anything as a hint. Does anyone remember the incredibly stupid Trophy Quiz theory?

The "See you in smash" comment ended up being reported as a genuine hint by multiple different sources, including Smashboards.

He's also the only Star Fox character who doesn't have an unused "malfunctioning blaster" animation.

This suggests Wolf was added to the roster after these animations were cut.

I agree it was irresponsible, but I simply can't help but applaud when a company/big name says 'sorry, we ****ed up!' Meanwhile Ubisoft genuinely waited another 2 days after Omni admitted it was fake just to say 'Eet is faux'

I like to imagine the potential humor in Ubisoft's situation.

"Did we license out a character? Does anyone know?"

''Check the caller ID! Did Nintendo call?"

How long did it take for Bozon to come out and say it was a joke?

Because it obviously wasn't fast enough to stop pretty much every Smash news source from reporting it as an actual hint towards Shantae's inclusion.

This reminds me of Monolith Soft retweeting like almost everything Sakurai said about a Direct. Only, you know... they had a legitimate reason to hint at something.

About a day, rumours spread like fires, meaning Bozon probably wouldn't have had enough time to say it ASAP, especially as he's working. It's kinda like how if I post something controversial before going to work I don't get to react quick enough

''ANY DAY NOW."

"DAMN IT"

"IT'LL BE THIS DIRECT FOR SURE..."

''OKAY MAYBE THE NEXT ONE..."

''OKAY THIS IS JUST GETTING RIDICULOUS."

stupidity shouldn't really be accounted for
if she were in, they absolutely wouldn't say HEY GUYS SHE'S TOTALLY IN SMASH ;)
some people overreacting and misinterpreting doesn't seem like much reason to issue an apology

You wanna know if a character is in the game or not

Ask Xander Mobis.
If he has no idea about it and will actively speak out on it, then scream 'no es fake'. Because he's the main guy who should be behind the NDA of most stuff.
Now I'm not saying spam his Twitter but you damn well better believe he KNOWS who's in or not so whatever Shantae situation would have been solved by seeing if Xander knows

Actually he was confused when people were bringing it up on his Twitter which threw off a red flag in my eyes. Even with the NDA which wouldn't make him say anything, I'm sure he was confused over it.

Poor Crash. His problem is, ironically that his former developers are successful. And they're not the kind to dwell on franchises either. Good on them for wantign to try new things but it's like if Nintendo stopped making Mario games after Mario 3.

Still here's always hope for a fan thing like Freedom Planet was to the old Sonic games.

Doesn't help Naughty Dog no longer wants to make those kind of games either. Seriously, why do companies tend to do this?

He is, if I'm remembering correctly.
That just reminded me of the whole 'Kamiya Star Fox' thing actually, is he confirmed to work on Zero?
He's not working on SFZ, he never was. There are various Platinum members working on it but Kamiya isn't.

He's still working on Scalebound and he doesn't work with other games.

Just like with Bayonetta 2, he was never part of it due to working on W101 and Scalebound. He isn't in charge of every Platinum game.

*see Metal Gear Rising*

Doesn't help Naughty Dog no longer wants to make those kind of games either. Seriously, why do companies tend to do this?
Have you seen the concept for the next Jak and Daxter game, that was horrible. Plus they kinda backtrack on that statement.

Because it is a hell of a lot more profitable.

See Spyro and skylanders (RIP)
I'm talking about companies no longer doing what made them famous in the first place, Capcom with their classics, SE with traditional JRPGS and such. SE did say they realized they were wrong, but again, Jim Sterling said it best, the sales were just fine, so why don't companies think it'll work? RIP Spyro regardless, second favourite purple dragon in gaming
