So I saw a few pages back that along with Dr Mario stage leak the person also apparently leaked Bomberman as a Mii fighter costume, that would genuinely make me upset, because it means Konami is willing to work with Nintendo, but they don't seem to be willing to let Snake comeback.

I think this is straw grasping IMO.

In all fairness, it IS weird that there's suddenly a thick line gap in the middle of the pills though. That was never in any of the designs of the pills, not even the CG art for Dr. Mario.

It's not about the models being different, but rather the design. I don't think it outright debunks it, but it is a strange thing.

To summarize

Strikes against the leak so far:

• Viruses in the magnifying glass at the bottom left of the background appear to be static, despite moving around in a circle in the actual Dr Mario games.
• Stage's Pill design is inconsistent with various pre-existent material, including Smash's own Pills (As seen in Doc's B and FS)
• Aspect Ratio for the new stages in the SSS are incorrect

What else am I missing?

While I am leaning towards #TeamFake now, I would still be happy if this turned out to be real. Despite the sloppy/inconsistent visual polish (seriously, it needs work) on both the stage and SSS.

Not at all. I feel the costumes can go for many characters, relevant or not.

We even have hats from Daisy and Waluigi. They are relevant, but arguably not enough that they are playable-tier.

I honestly feel like it's Sakurai's way of responding to the K Rool fans of the ballot. It's like he's saying "It's the best I could do, but here" to those fans.

With all this talk of the ballot... it's hard to argue based on it since we don't have the actual ballot info available to us.

Hell, the actual ballot isn't even done. Perhaps Sakurai won't even see its results until October? If that's the case, he's going to feel bad when all the characters on the ballot are already Mii Fighter costumes.

That's sorta like a weaker version of the "No, that's Other M Ridley. Ridley's chances are not hurt at all" argument.

But that argument holds even less weight because all K Rool's are the same. While the Ridley argument I brought up is a weak one, it at least has the whole "There's 2 Ridleys" thing going for it.

The reason no one is listening is likely because that argument has no weight to it.

The change in the pills design might also have to do with differentiating them from the pills used in Dr.Mario's final smash.
I mean, you'd have to be blind to not notice the camera zooming in on Dr. Mario or that the pills are rotating and coming right at you, but at the same time Sakurai has done this kind of thing before (There is no possible way that someone could actually confuse conductor Link for Toon Link.)

I think you're misinterpreting what I said there, buddy.

The K. Rool costume dismantles the "relevancy" argument because it demonstrates that K. Rool has a substantial role (i.e. something more than a token tribute like a sticker or trophy) in a recent title.

Beyond that, it's based on his Rare design, a motif which has been absent from everything for 14 years.

I never said "he's a shoo-in 'cos he's relevant now".

I said "this demonstrates that Nintendo does consider K. Rool (do recall: Rare-era K. Rool) a character with considerable fan demand".

Get your facts straight before you get on your high horse.
