Huh. That is actually a bit damning...
I know, and it kills me. I want this stage to be real as much as everyone else, but I'm now starting to lean towards it being fake. Good effort, but the oversights are starting to add up.

I agree. Kind of a shame. Because this stage looks really interesting.

I guess we'll see what will happen in a few days.

I suspect this Dr. Mario stage will be dynamic... maybe Dr. Mario will throw pills in the jar on the background... and then giant pills drop on the stage itself.

Notice how the background and the stage look the same?

But in another picture, the jar is empty and the stage itself is empty too.

I suspect that when giant pills connect with Viruses of the same color, they disappear... and when all the Viruses are cleared, more Viruses will appear but in different positions... and then Dr. Mario will throw more giant pills.
Tl;dr it's the closest we'll get of a Tetris stage

I don't think he is grasping at straws. Sakurai and the team are the type to put A LOT of attention to detail into things. So I think it's a fair point he made. It doesn't make or break the leak, but it is something worth thinking about.

Of all my years playing these 16bit Sonic games, I've never realized that Tails could jump higher. Mind blown.
Might consider downloading it if that's the case. I downloaded Sonic CD on mobile and had fun playing Tails in that so the same will probably apply to this version of the game.

He does? For all the time I've played Sonic 2 I thought Tails only differences from Sonic was in aesthetics (minus the lack of a super form). That's actually very interesting to know
Yep, pop in Sonic 2 Wing Fortress, there's a jump at the beginning Sonic can't make, skips a lot of the level iirc

Some minor details like going around in a circle doesn't really matter to me. :L
He may not've added it, but he might've not added it because he wanted it to be that way.
It looks extremely legit.

But those minor details are things Sakurai and his team often replicate.

Like it or not this is a strike against the leak.

That's funny, because I think it looks really amateurish. The stage is just a rectangle with a checkerboard pattern.

Compare it to Warioware. That's a much thicker box, which gives the characters room to breathe, and the texture is far more interesting to look at, even though it's the same basic idea of a cube with a checkerboard. Compare it to the Miiverse stage. Putting a simple solid color border around the edges of the stage helps break up the checkerboard pattern and make it visually more interesting.

If the stage is legit, I'm incredibly disappointed with Sakurai's design team.
Perhaps it's Omega mode?

I think it does when things starts to pile up. It's not so much that one thing makes the leak suspecious, it's the fact when there's a bunch of them. The bland platform, the lack of detail on the 3 viruses in the left UI (esp when the rest of the BG updates/animates)... oh and the fact you can see bits of the checker BG behind the virus UI's border is also very strange.

It's not the most professional looking stage when you give it a real good look sometimes.

The key difference is that when you're playing stages like spirit tracks and dreamland, you are fighting in the actual world. But levels like Duck Hunt and 75m, you're in a video game that's being played. (Notice how those retro stages are 1:1 with the design)
I think it has probably more to do with the fact that the sprites actually interact with the stage whereas Engineer Link and Dream Land Dedede are more like background props and thus aren't as easy to replace/remove.

From what I'm seeing, Dr.Mario seems to be pretty integral to the stage as he throws the pill's in the background which in turn influences the stage itself. DK and the Dog also directly influence their stages wether they serve as extra platforms or attacking you.

I guess I probably still don't really see the whole point with the Spirit Train stage as the three Link's aren't even remotely related (Especially the default Link) which probably kickstarted the whole Alfonzo meme....(At least the whole Dedede thing makes sense and I suppose you can go with the whole "You're in the game" thing you suggested for the others).

That's just me though. :T

No one is outright saying that this is fake. We're just being cautious is all.

It is a really convincing leak, but it does have some oddities that is worth bringing up.

That Dr. Mario stage looks pretty cool, I hope it's real.
In terms of the K.Rool costume, I just hope this doesn't flat-out disconfirm him. Donkey Kong Country was the first game I ever played, so seeing the Kroc King will bring back some good memories.

I shall be the First to assume this:
The second Pic is the FD Mode.

In terms of Sonic Music: There's so many good pieces that I can generally listen to any of them bar chronicles and Boom.

I have no idea why Swamp isn't goofy enough.

Maybe this just has to do with the DLC team being smaller in comparison to Sakurai's staff before the game was released, or maybe this could just be a nearly finished version of the stage as opposed to the final product?

A Game of Clones, Part 2

Deep in the nighttime jungle, a large, golden-bellied Kremling sat in a chair. He read through notes and ate a few "borrowed" bananas. He gave a look out the shanty window every time he took a bite, before quickly stashing the bananas back into a drawer.

A Mii Fighter in K. Rool garb suddenly opened the door, looking panicked.

"Rool! It's a newcomer announcement from Sakurai himself!"

K. Rool's crazy eye perked up. He knew about the trademark letter sent to the jungle as of late, so he figured this could finally be his time. Rool laughed and stood, waddling over from his dim and creaky office to the door.

As he exited, he was greeted by Dixie Kong.

"Yeah, we had leaks and everything!" Dixie excitedly said. "Sakurai's announcing it right now, c'mon!"

Rool hobbled along with Dixie and the Mii fighter. The jungle was dim, and even the bright moon couldn't penetrate the thick brush and canopy overhead. It was like an organic cave. Up ahead, however, the Smashers had set up a television for moments of key information.

Rool saw a group of Smashers grouped together around the television screen. A few gave odd glimpses at Rool as he approached. He didn't miss his own confirmation, did he?!

Rool quickly stumbled over to the area where the Smashers and their friends were. They moved out of the way, allowing him to get a glimpse at the television screen.

"DECONFIRMED", it read. Rool glanced at it for a second, before turning around. Suddenly, if expectedly, Rool felt the trophy knife drive its way into him. Dixie held the knife.

"For the Kongs."

Rool struggled to let out any yells. Mario, Diddy, and DK all did the same, repeating "For the Kongs" as they stabbed him. Rool felt himself slowly fade, as his body started to become a poorly rendered trophy. A stand formed under his feet, making him unable to run.

The crowd moved out of the way again. This time, the Mii dressed as Rool from earlier walked along the swampy dirt to face K. Rool. His childish, evil grin scared and infuriated Rool. He wanted to grab the boy, but Rool's arms had already become trophy parts. All he could do was speak his final word, and watch.

"Miis..."

"For the Kongs!"

The Mii imposter sent one final trophy knife into Rool, completing the transformation. His fellow smashers had betrayed him, and his final sights were a grinning Dixie Kong handing bananas out to every Smasher who helped commit the trophycide. He didn't know whether to weep or to scream, but alas, he could do neither.

That is actually what I've been sort of thinking too. The budget for DLC hasn't honestly felt as grand as the initial content. The lack of custom moves for the DLC characters was really weird.

Oh, and I would want a Tetris stage, too, even if we have a Dr. Mario stage. Both puzzle games deserve stage representation!

I would buy the first point if Suzaku Castle didn't look amazing, but it does.

Haha I can't believe that anyone actually remembers me. I'm more of a lurker by heart, but I'm trying to be a bit more active in the community. After all, nothing helps a community more than people actually being a little active and socializing a little.

Submitted for your approval.

The aspect ratios on the new stages, and only the new stages, are incorrect.

Honestly I think these "strikes " are more straw grasping then anything else. We have 5shots. I'm positive this is real and that in concept it seems simple but in gameplay it will be much more diverse then it seems.

How does the stage using different pills than what Dr. Mario uses for his Final Smash indicate it's a fake?

I don't care if it's fake or not, can we all agree that the stage looks great and looks pretty damn plausible.
