If they released the K. Rool costume to tide over fans while they made the actual fighter, why would costume sales matter? The character is already on the way according to this theory.

I gave two theories in my post, Either we are getting him or we are getting a costume to acknowledge that we want him in the future, like in a new smash game or Donkey Kong game.

Bandana Waddle Dee was made long after Sakurai stopped working on Kirby.

Not actually. Bandana Dee existed around Kirby Super Star AKA the last Sakurai directed Kirby game.

Bandana Dee IS a Sakurai Kirby character. Or atleast existed around when Super Star was in development.

I swear the only way people don't cling to arbitrary fan rules if they're broken before their eyes.

I think there's a difference between "clinging to rules" and "paying attention to patterns".

Clinging to rules means that they cannot accept anything that doesnt follow those rules: "It can't happen".
Paying attention to unchanged patterns means being aware of likelyhood: "It probably won't happen".

It's the difference between saying that someone can't win the lottery and that someone probably won't win the lottery.

Don't hate the fanbase because a small minority act this way. I'd say the vast majority of Smash fans are great people that appreciate the game and the sacrifices Sakurai and his team put in. Some people take passion to a very dark place, but I'd say the Smash community as a whole is amazing.

If that Dr. Mario stage is real (it was on the game files, right?), then that's pretty cool. Especially when you know the Dr. Mario series had its 25th anniversary not too long ago; I could be mistaken.

If it's fake, then that's a bummer. Of course no one knows anything.

I completely understand the anger that the K. Rool supporters are having, but honestly? There is nothing wrong with having a Mii Fighter costume. I don't know why are people getting worked out for something like this; for all we know this could be a sign of good things to come, mainly the aforementioned "they finally acknowledge him via official manners." If they leave character data for the next patch it's more than likely that K. Rool will be in.

I know some people are saying the K.Rool costume doesnt mea he won't be dlc, but out of all the character based costumes how many have been of future (relative to release) DLC characters? They were all, iirc, of characters already in the game or of character that probably wont be in the game.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's unlikely imo. At least until a precident is made and we get a DLC character that already has a mii costume, in-game or DLC.

'd or not, it was worth saying, in my opinion.

We've already got a ton of "The costume doesn't mean anything because Meta Knight!" posts, so we might as well have more people besides me mentioning that the only character-based DLC Mii costume we've gotten that was for a playable character was Link.

We don't know if Mii Fighter costumes are a death sentence for DLC candidates, but at the same time, there's nothing solid to indicate that it isn't. And considering that the amount of costumes for characters not on the roster we've had as DLC compared to the amount we have that aren't, we've got plenty reason to assume the worst.

And honestly, IT IS better than nothing because it shows they acknowledge the character's popularity.
I would love if the Wonderful 101 got mii outfits, Wonder-Jacket along with a Wonder Mask while also being a multi-class outfit that changes color accordingly to the Mii's setting.
It's the closest I will get, yes I'm desperate

Desperate or not, it would be nice if more people had the same outlook on the situation as you.

The Mii Fighter costumes aren't the ideal solution, but if it comes down to them or nothing, I see no reason not to go for it.

I don't necessarily agree, you're right that it is an acknowledgement, but that doesn't mean that it has to be liked. Ridley being a boss is an acknowledgement of the character's popularity as well, but considering the reaction to him on Pyrosphere even ignoring the direct debacle, it wasn't a well accepted alternative.

The thing is, people are allowed to be disappointed with the costume and they have every right to say that. Obviously we shouldn't have childish rants like the one previous in the thread, but even so, it's better to express disappoint (in a smart way of course) then just accept everything even if it goes against how you feel.
