Hey guys. I've been gone from the thread for a few days, since I was using my first two days of summer vacation to recover from the video game withdrawal I was on for 2 weeks, and catch up on the Steven Universe episodes I missed.

So did Nintendo announce any games at the Treehouse thing? I doubt anything significant since I probably would have noticed the internet exploded in joy or hatred.

Brainzzzzzzz.......
Here, you can take mine. Hopefully you'll use it to think and change the Thread Title, since E3 is over.

For the picture? Ask @ splat splat , he's the talent behind Source Gaming's banner!

I wouldn't be either. Sakurai said that some characters weren't prioritized in the plan so some wouldn't be finished. (I think Nintendo Dream 200th issue)

Hopefully that means we can get the Chorus Kids.
I was just talking with @RamOne this morning about the Chorus Kids, they would be so awesome. I really do feel they should be best if they were 3D yet were cel-shaded and had a visible black edge to not take Mr. Game & Watch's or Wii Fit Trainer's visual gimmick (not unlike the border the characters have on 3DS anyway - or something like Okami).

I've been meaning to ask you this, but I always forget.

In your signature, what text is that? And if you got it for free, then say so, also. And also the site, if you remember it.

I've been looking for that font for all my life. Even in the womb. Totes.
DFP Gothic. It's normally around $50 I think, but someone somewhere linked it on these boards. Let me know if you can't find it.

I agree with this but I think Pikachu should go first as an exception. Given he's the mascot and part of the original 12 and all.

EDIT:

So I think it'd go like this:

Pikachu, Ivysaur, Charizard, Squirtle, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Pichu, Lucario, Greninja

Actually hmmm... that does look a bit weird... due to the Gen 1 starters lineup. Maybe DEX order won't be enough. Alterately it could go like this:

Pikachu, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Pichu, Lucario, Greninja

This way we have the first form, second form and third form arranged in order since they are kind of a trio (but seperate now), although the DEX order is a bit off now.
You could go by Smash debut order.

Just to put in my 2 cents on the Miiverse stage really quick. Is there any reason Nintendo can't just remove the Miiverse posts altogether to at least allow the stage to be used online? I know we've got Battlefield, but I really like the simplicity (minus the fan posts) of the Miiverse stage. Battlefield has a lot going on in the background. The plain white and green of the Miiverse is calming, yet mesmerizing. And, as has been suggested, if they must keep Miiverse posts in the background, why not choose 5-10 each week for each character and let those run. That way it's a little more rewarding if your image is chosen and might actually spark people to, I don't know...... try? Something will have to be done soon, otherwise I could see some angry parents complaining about their child being subjected to obscene material in a T rating game. Remember, the Miiverse stage was included with the patch, not optional DLC.

I agree, I know Battlefield is similar, but I like the colour theme of the Miiverse stage quite a lot.

I'm not sure if you overlooked this.

You're taking what I'm saying as "ZOMG SPYRO IS CONFIRMED FOR SMASH BECAUSE SKYLANDERS AND AMIIBO CROSSOVER". I'm not saying that at all. I'm speaking purely in a hypothetical scenario where we even get any more 3rd Party characters, and that Spyro as A frontrunner. Not THE frontrunner.

Errrr........yeah, I didn't miss that. Whether you think he's "the frontrunner" or "a frontrunner" is irrelevant. All the responses to your post were arguing that his chances aren't actually that great and Skylanders does nothing for him. Whether he's number one on the "most likely third party" list or number 80, the point remains the same.

A couple things:
- Doc has the Mario logo so he should be in the Mario bit, not tacked on the end like Yoshi.
- Robin should be before Lucina as you see him in his game first.
- This one is nitpicky but Pokemon should be arranged by Dex number IMO.

That second screen seems to bugger up a lot of what you did in the first one. Ros is back before BJ, Roy is at the end of the FE reps etc.
Yoshi comes before Rosalina and Bowser Jr (who both have the Mushroom), so it's not necessarily the case that Doc should be in the Mario section.

can mashpotato samurai fix how ugly the roster screen looks:

-Rosalina and Bowser Jr. have their places swapped to reflect that Jr. came before her.
-Doc, Yoshi, and Wario treated as "spin-offs" and ordered on the screen by appearance. Doc integrated into the Mario row.
-Ganondorf moves next to Zelda for a better representation of the Triforce.
-Dark Pit integrated into the Kid Icarus section.
-Ness and Lucas moved up into "multi-series-rep" order since Lucas returned.
-Fire Emblem series is now ordered by game appearance. Marth > Roy > Ike > Awakening characters. Robin placed after Lucina due to being the most distinguished from the other FE characters.
-Pokemon reps ordered by Gen with Pikachu and Jigglypuff getting the first two spots. This is due to them being original 12 members. The rest is ordered by the dex.
-Rest of single-rep series ordered appropriately.
-Third parties get their proper section followed by Miis and Random.

Bonus DLCstorm version: (Not polished)

I doubt there's that much DLC remaining. 9 sounds more like a total number of DLC overall rather than how much is remaining.

Every veteran returning is still an unrealistic pipedream.

hm
what about soul blazer and terranigma, to complement illusion of gaia and actraiser?
also wouldn't that be final fantasy 4
I considered Terranigma and Soul Blazer, but I had to end the list somewhere, and the other two games where titles I actually played back in my tween years when the SNES came out. Terranigma and Sould Blazer are games I didn't play until years later.

Also, when you're talking SNES in the West, it's Final Fantasy 2. I meant to write 2 and 3 (wrote 6 by mistake) because if someone if buying a SNES (not a Super Famicom) those will be the titles of the games if they are looking for them.

Still expect more than two. Credit: @SAVideos

I think the next batch will be 2 vets
:wolf:&:popo:. I think Sakurai will finally get them working on 3DS hardware since the reason why they were cut weren't that they were impossible to be in but time restraints and they will go through all those restrictions.

The last will be a newcomer and a surprise.

DLC doesn't magically make hardware issues go away.

I tend to agree with both of this. 10 DLC characters is about the maximum amount of DLC you'd expect.

Snake is just about the only veteran I can't see being feasible to return at this stage. He strikes me as the kind of character where, if he was going to return, he'd be on the initial release. He wouldn't be cut for time constraints, so they've made a conscious effort not to persue him this time. There are at least work arounds to the Icies after all, though it depends on a "perfect storm" of circumstances working their way. It's not as if we know the full details of why they were cut so we can't say for sure.

But even if every vet had a chance of returning, that's still 7 characters PLUS whatever newcomers they want to add on top of the 4 we'v already had.

I wish. If we got both of them I wouldn't ask for anything smash related again.
Only other thing would be to make sure they never leave again.

Is there any actual source on this? I hear people mention it a lot, but it sounds more like a theory to me than anything.

I firmly believe that if they were possible, they'd be in. Ice Climbers weren't low priority in any other Smash Bros title, as far as we know. Brawl's Instance Slots heavily imply that they were higher on the totem pole than Jigglypuff, a Smash 64 veteran.

Not to mention the theory @PushDustIn posted on Source Gaming that, despite what Sakurai said, there may have been Wii U hardware issues as well related to 8-Player Smash.

I think the Ice Climbers are as unlikely as Snake, personally. They're the only cut veterans we've actually been given an explicit reason for getting cut.

I can easily see them not coming back until next game, but I also think we don't have enough information to completely rule them out.

Hey @ Burb Burb
Why do you think Snake is so unlikely? I tend to think to opposite, but I'm legitimately interested in what your reasoning is because it's generally grounded in solid facts.

I edited this like 6 times.. struggling to type on my phone here lol.

Konami's current state is one reason. But when it all boils down to it, my main reason is that I firmly believe that if he were ever considered for a return, he'd have been in the base game.

The icy duo were performing perfectly fine on the Wii U, but unfortunately due to required hardware power, the Smash team was unable to get them up and running within the 3DS confines of the game. According to Sakurai-san, a solution to this problem wasn’t a priority either due to there being no real reason to promote the Ice Climbers – as there are no planned announcements or instalments for this particular series any time soon.
Here's a very poor translation of the original text;
(Is not that character!)
"I also packed a lot of fighters, there are people who care only characters that do not.
Ice Climber but was moving in WiiU, it did not move absolutely in need considerable machine power 3DS.
Other fighter also, it was unavoidable feeling of moving and doing cut by cutting.
In addition, potential and appointments there is no series character which software comes into the future is absolutely priority is lowered. "
It sounds like because they ran into problems with them, the priority wasn't there because the franchise is dead. So there is a precedent to think that it's possible that they could get them to work for DLC. I still find it quite unlikely though.

Actually I am very curious about this honestly.
If Ice Climbers came back. I would hope that Summit would return too.
Because goodness knows we are lacking in Snow levels. (We don't actually have one if not for Poke Stadium 2's mini snow gym)
But I am generally curious. What music would they use for it. Seeing how both Ice Climbers pieces are on wrecking crew.

Throw in a Frogger hat with the Simon and Bomber Mii costumes.
Would Bomberman be a Gunner? It would be nice if Brawler had a bomb toss (that would make more sense to me.)

Simon would be a terrible Mii costume as there's no Mii that uses a whip, and without that he would look a bit out of place.

If we ever had Castlevania costumes I can almost guarantee that we would get Alucard.

...and it would be awesome.

You could argue the same thing for Lucas, Mewtwo or even Roy, but it's a different scenario for Snake since he's not owned by Nintendo. In my opinion, it depends on how long they've been planning the DLC or how big the sales for it have been so far. Ryu getting in shows that they aren't opposed to having third party additions. I would probably say Konami's state doesn't necessarily prevent anything either. They seem on board with it since they retweeted a tweet about Snake and the ballot, plus they get money for it and don't have to do anything. Kojima, though he's no longer with Konami, has pushed for it also.

If the sales of this set of DLC were strong enough, I could see him being included in a second round of multiple characters. Third party characters are bigger stars than most of the remaining Nintendo characters, and Snake has the added benefit of being a veteran fighter, which will naturally increase his sales since people generally like things they're more familiar with more. He wasn't considered for the main game, at all, and I agree that's apparent, but I think the fact we got Roy somewhat shows Sakurai is willing to reconsider his previous decisions.

If we only get a couple more characters for DLC, well, his chances aren't so great, but I suppose there's always the ballot if his fans vote enough.

I'd buy that costume for my already existing Alucard Mii who is currently dressed in the pirate garb (minus the hat of course).
