I really REALLY hope this Amazon pre-order posting for Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival is a placeholder and it's not actually $60 because apparently people are being told this game is "Free to play" at the booth, but then Nintendo themselves are saying about buying the game this holiday season as a bundle with 2 amiibo and 3 cards.

So lets think about this, if the digital version is free-to play... in order for the physical copy to make sense... lets see. 2 amiibo... that's $24.. and then 3 cards.. that's.. however much amiibo cards are. But I can tell you one thing, amiibo cards wouldn't cost $12 each. That's the point of them, a cheaper alternative to the amiibo. So if they sell this game for $60 but make the digital version free; they are ripping off everyone who buys the physical copy. Because we could get the digital copy and 5 actual amiibo figures for it, for the $60 they have it currently stamped as. I'm going to say that maybe it'll be like... $40 and that's a placeholder price...

The amiibo party game looks so boring.

No minigames and using the amiibo to roll. yeesh.

So.. I just noticed at the end of them playing it they said the board game is PART of Amiibo Festival. So... other modes maybe?

I would say free as technology limits was the only reason they were gone.

True, but it's worth noting that they also have a bunch of titles listed as "Unannounced." We'll see.

To answer your question, they could be free since they were originally planned. Or they could be at a discounted price.

I think you'll be fine so long as you keep your expectations in check.

As for the Ice Climbers. They could probably be made free as Sakurai admitted that they where planned for the base game and that they where more or less finished for at least one of the versions. So who knows when it comes to them I guess. They might just also be made to sit this one out until the next game (which seems to be the more probable thing).....

Well, it's a retail game in that you can buy a hard copy of it and it comes with 2 amiibo and 3 amiibo cards..
and as Burb and I said they made a statement that the board game is PART of Amiibo Festival. So there's probably a few modes or something.

I guess you didn't read the other posts. Amiibo Festival isn't the mode. Amiibo Festival is the GAME. The BOARD GAME however is a "mode" in Amiibo Festival.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was more than we expected, but at the same time, I think people shouldn't set their expectations too high. It's a packed roster as is, and we were told outright that DLC is limited.





Why would it be Smash?

We were told there was still games to be shown off. It's something new, there's absolutely no chance of it being Smash related.

That video has always been my go to hype video. I don't know why I like it so much, but anytime I'm hyped I play that video. So it has nothing to do with Smash, but on pure hype alone. But I understand the confusion XD. Its probably a new game entirely.

I'm probably the only guy who see what Sakurai is up to when it comes to the roster, but I always feel like Nintendo makes certain choices for the roster same with Game Freak and Intelligent Systems with Pokemon and Fire Emblem. Well the new Fatal Frame wasn't in the direct (it was probably meant to at one point though) and I was hype for that. It's subjective, and it could be something worthwhile. We just have to wait and see.

While I have no evidence, it seems clear to me that the game must have seen a late development upheaval, as it does not feel as big or as tightly designed as the games that came before it, despite the 5 year dev cycle.

It was also sold as an origin for the Master Sword, and did so in the dumbest way possible: The Master Sword is actually the powered up version of this other ancient and mysterious sword. So you never actually see the Master Sword get created. Then there was the whole 'Demise is the reason Ganon exists' chicken/egg scenario, since it explains one evil force of vague origin by introducing another evil force of vague origin.

the fable series is pretty much giant expectations every time

Brink was expected to be a TF2 clone and when it actually had its own thing peoploe got pissed off. Although the singleplayer was atrocious

For me, Little Big Planet 3. While it had more mechanics and tools, it honestly felt like a step back from 2.
