NintenZone Social Thread: Shovel Knight Amiibo Hype Catastrophe (feat. Swamp)

I really liked both sony's and microsoft's e3. They had some pretty good announcements(Backwards ****ing compatibility for xbox, halo 24 player coop, new gears of war, hololens + valve partnership, shenmue3,ff7,and last guardian for sony.) So I was like,"Hey,if both Sony and Microsoft did really well this year, then imagine how well Nintendo is gonna kick *** this year!"
Last e3 was kick ***, so one would assume from that point on that every e3 will be just as great, right? Well, now I know never to get my hopes up for anything Nintendo that doesn't have the word "Smash" in it. I mean, it's great for those of you who are 3ds owners, but for me, it was awful. I own only a wii u, and it has so much potential. It could have been more, but it wasn't. Damn shame this e3, real damn shame.

I am really considering selling my wii u right now, but what's stopping me from going and putting a listing up on ebay is the fact that I'm enjoying smash very much.

I hope star fox is the Wii U's final bang just like skyward sword was. If the NX is coming soon it would explain the lack of main titles.

Metroid blast doesnt look like it will have exploration. at least no morph ball. Kind of defeats a bit of the purpose

That could absolutely be it. They may have shifted resources to the NX so that it would launch with a decent line up. This might be a lackluster E3 since they are ramping up for the NX at E3 next year.

That's what I chose to believe. This was both the sacrificial lamb AND the calm before the storm. Get ready for the NX and Nintendomination next year!

You do realize that the backwards compatibility on Xbox isn't out until the end of the year, and even then it's only 20 games.

They are probably adding more games to the library and those 20 games are gonna be for the beta

Just watched the digital event. It wasn't too bad. I thought last year was definitely a little better, but some of the games do look great. That said, I'm still hoping Nintendo will have more announcements up their sleeves over the next couple of days.

So I'm a little confused, I've never watched e3 before, was that everything Nintendo had to announce? Or will they continue to do digital events throughout all of e3?

It's two things. First up are the leaks. Next is that fact that Nintendo are sticking to games that are releasing soon. That was...an odd choice. They obviously could have thrown a few trailers our way, but they instead decided to talk about a Yoshi game that already released in one region for 10 minutes.

We KNOW Nintendo has several studios that are working on unknown games as they are unaccounted for. A 30 second teaser for something Retro is working on, for example, would have been hype.

It's like Nintendo really forgot how to E3.

Yeah if Nintendo announced other new games it would have been much more hype. I mean, where's the Retro game?

Yeah, it definitely looks like the NX is releasing relatively soon. Hopefully, if it really is releasing next year, next year's presentation will feature a bunch of new launch title games.

What's hilarious is people's short memory. Last year people complained about NIntendo's e3 stuff too, and months later talked about how awesome it was. (some in the leaks group even, what a shock) but this one definitely had much less. Still, the constant complaining just makes everyone feel worse, I'd focus on talking about the few cool things that were shown

Yeah but remember, Kirby Return to Dreamland happen right when the Wii U was in development and they could had delayed it for the Wii U but they didn't so they have no excuse unless it's a handheld and if it's that then it's the same thing.

Well that was a pretty bad E3, the worst part was easily Yarn Yoshi, it also doesn't help that I really don't like Yoshi, the best part easily was Star Fox Zero, also Wolf is in the game, he's in the Wolfen with the W.

It seems Nintendo has established that the Paper Mario universe is in fact a parallel universe to the "main" Mario universe (or at least the "Mario & Luigi" universe; for all we know at this point, that could be its own universe too).

Looking at the reveals was there any mainline mentions at all? star fox was one mario maker was close I guess.

If the NX releases before Xmas 2017, I'll be very surprised.

The point is, not every game will be backwards compatible, and by the time some games ARE backwards compatible, the One will be over. It's nothing to be excited about when it'll have released 2 years before even some games are compatible, and even then it's only 20, most of which are XBLA titles.
