All right, then let me ask you this: Okay, so the Wii U gets Ice Climbers. Well in that case we'd need to balance it. So, what would the 3DS get?

No it's not. Because 3DS owners don't have a lot of the Wii U features. Wii U version is still at its best.

3DS version has weaker online, no 8-player Smash, no Event mode, no Master Core, no Tournament mode, items run at 30fps, limited stages, limited soundtrack for those stages, no stage creator, no better control options, online is still ****. And last, no YouTube uploads.

3DS version is still at its weakest. What are Wii U owners missing that much? Smash Run is the only exception and its one mode. Compared to the extra stuff that game has, one character missing from the entire roster doesn't hurt the game and makes it incomplete.

The Wii U is at its strongest. It runs at 1080p/60fps with no drops.

That is no excuse. Man I'm done. You crazy people are just going "boo hoo we can't get one character" **** you I want a better online system because MK7 runs great on there with 8 racers but Smash on 3DS runs mediocre as ****. And considering what's going on the Wii U. I'm not paying $350 for system that Nintendo is leaving in the dust for next year.

Master Core is fightable in the 3DS version. It's Master Fortress that's only available on the Wii U. But yeah I'm getting tired of the whining about one character not getting in and blaming the 3DS version even though that version makes the majority of the sales.

I'm sorry, but I heavily agree with that "compensation." You're essentially saying it's OK to let the Wii U get perks while the 3DS gets none and that particular version's fanbase should just be happy with what they have. On that same train of thought, I could say be happy you have things like 8 player Smash, but it still wouldn't be a good suggestion.

Really, you can't have it both ways with this situation. Either the Wii U gets the IC and you disappoint the 3DS buyers, or you keep things even between both and while there's disappointment about the ICs, both groups are on equal ground. People were going to be disappointed either way and Sakurai felt it was better to not prioritize one version over the other and chose the latter option. You may not agree with that choice over the other, but that doesn't mean that the other choice was that preferable either, especially considering some fans would feel jilted if the Wii U got perks their preferred version didn't.

Honestly though, the 3DS version bashing really does need to stop. Being disappointed about the ICs not making it in is one thing, but that doesn't justify treating it like crap. Whether you prefer the Wii U or 3DS version, it doesn't matter, it's Smash and fans have a right to enjoy whichever one they have, they shouldn't feel like their version is inferior because of some of the design decisions behind the game.

I honestly would be fine with actual differences in the games (with the 3DS getting Solo Pop and Wii U getting full IC) but that would appatently cause heada to explode.

I would say Paper mario He is quite popular even if he is rarely talked about as a contender. And being a mario character means he would sell well with the casual audience as well. He has a history as far back as the 64 and is as recent as the 3ds with another game on the way. IDK thats just me. and I would rather discuss literally anything else

Well, maybe they couldn't get that to work because of the console that's provided, like Kenith said?

I mean, if the 3DS was several times more powerful than it is now, surely we would get those features because there is more to work with the console itself and we would get more with the console provided would we not?

It was never gonna work on 3DS. Event Mode is probably the only thing I could see working both on 3DS and Wii U but scrapped due to time restraints. Outside of that none of those would have worked on 3DS. 8-Players Smash is just 4 Ice Climbers working on there and that didn't happen. And you're implying that the 3DS could have had just as good online as the Wii U.

I will say, it's funny that the Ice Climbers were cut to keep the games "fair" when that's not really the case in the end.
The 3DS version is the best game it could possibly be on the console provided.
The Wii U version is not the best game it could be on the console provided.

So it's already unfair. But it leans in the 3DS's favor.

This says it best. Smash was never envisioned to be a handheld game to begin with. I'm sure there are many Smash fans that would rather have one mega game with as much content and features it could handle rather than two games that require split time and resources. The 3DS tries its best, but at the end of the day its still a watered down version of the game, while the Wii U version received a heavy development handicap.

Anyway, as an early Birthday present, I got mario maker! It's really fun and has a lot of neat throwbacks to other mario games. I also got the doctor mario and zero suit samus amiibo. Gamestop had zss, while Target had tons of Dr. marios lol. He's still one of my favorite characters though.
