In what way? If anything ALTA is more comparable to Zelda or Fire Emblem with the more serious anime-esque art style and following a different cast (but with a reincarnation) each time through different time periods.

And her Super Move even has her summon the haunted train to run people over, despite the fact that she doesn't even appear in that episode.

I think it's referencing the episode where Arnold and friends were trapped on the subway, and Gertie snuck in and hotwired it to get it working again.

I feel like it's gotta be the latter. It just feels so much like some higher up was getting into it, gave a "wouldn't it be funny if" suggestion and the devs loved it.

I don't think so, unless Loud Castle is Gerald's stage, but I doubt that unless Gerald was meant to be Lincoln in an earlier version before plans changed.
I really gotta know what thought process led to Nick approaching Ludosity/Fair Play Labs and going "yeah this is cool and all but what if you added Arnold's ****ing Grandma"
I think that Ludosity originally wanted to add Arnold himself but Nick refused in order to stay true to canon, so they suggested adding his grandma instead.
It's nice to see people being excited for her after they've used her as a scapegoat for possible cuts to the roster.
The first thing to come to my mind was Mini Gertie's and even though I know it won't happen, the thought of it is terrifyingly hilarious
I have literally always been saying she's genuinely a good pick. It's so dumb for her of all characters to be the cuts scapegoat because like...it's not like she replaced any of the cut characters.
