I always felt it was weird when people use Super Brawl Universe as a justification for the Rugrats babies being okay for a fighting game when
1) It's very clearly the exception and not the rule when it comes to those characters in Nicktoons crossovers
2) It's literally a zero-budget flash game turned freemium mobile game, where all of the characters have Literally Three Generic Attacks And Maybe A Generic Super. Like, ****ing Meepit vs Feepit, a Neopets flash game from like 2003, was a more in-depth fighting game than Super Brawl Universe.
I highly doubt Nickelodeon or Viacom had like...any direct hand or oversight in it whatsoever, nor do I think it should be used as conclusive proof that the mandates don't exist regarding the Rugrats.
Best thing about Tigre is that he wasn't on that one leak which means that its not real and people can finally stop talking about Sonic as if it's a thing that will actually happen,
I wanted El Tigre over Sonic anyway, so I see this as an absolute win!
I mean, I love Sonic and all, but if I wanted to play as him I'd just start up Smash Bros. It seems more jarring than anything to have him alongside Nickelodeon characters.
I could care less for the Rugrats babies. Reptar is the only worthwhile choice from that show purely for being cool and really bringing something to the table. There's a bunch of characters that'll have to compete for a limited spot and I just don't see the babies getting in specifically because they're so generic.
Ehh... in a game like Smash where most people play casually, it makes more sense, but locking a bunch of cool cameos behind an item most players are going to play with maybe once before ignoring forever seems like a waste of time and resources. I'd much prefer actual fighter-style assists, if there were room for such a thing.
When in doubt, speculate Rugrats eligibility for the 1000th time
They explicitly say in Lincoln’s character showcase in regards to Lily Loud:
“Looks like Lily’s itching to join the fun. Probably for the best she can’t.”
Not isn’t, not won’t, can’t.
I’ll admit I’ve probably underestimated Angelica’s chances of getting in (heck she’s actually in the games concept art) but the intent of that statement seems pretty obvious otherwise, as it wasn’t made about the other Loud House character cameos on that stage
Not gonna entertain this debate anymore. If it happens it happens but Super Brawl Universe has been the exception, not tradition. And tradition is that Rugrats don’t really show up in playable form in Action/Adventure Nicktoons games (and that’s not the same kind of tradition as “all 4 turtles are always playable”).
Edit: All this to say regardless whether we think Rugrats are eligible or not, I feel like they’ve already made their stance on it
I think the Lily Loud comments was mostly a joke, but even assuming it's not, there's a pretty clear difference about Lily Loud and Angelica. I mean, Lily is 15 months old while Angelica is 3 years old. Of course I'm not saying that Angelica is not young, but there's a huge difference between the 2 characters.
I'm also not sure to understand your points of "all 4 turtles is not the same type of tradition". It just seems like you're trying to deflect the fact that tradition can change and different games can have different roster idea.

The youngest human character we have in the game right now is only eight, that being Lucy. Helga at nine is the only other single digit aged fighter on the roster, although we do have Lincoln at 11 and Aang and Toph both at 12. It's clear that Ludosity might be against having babies and toddlers fight, because if they didn't we would probably have one of the Rugrats kids on the roster right now.

Well frankly, this roster idea just shouldn't happen because they are so painfully boring. There's a reason that despite Tommy being an icon, some less popular characters got prioritized, Reptar is all we need. They just aren't worthwhile as a choice over so many cooler and more interesting characters.
The real reason why a Rugrats can't be in NASB is because most of them can't talk with "growed up" people, and most of the roster are old enough to understand their speech. It will be odd to hear the babies speaking during the fights.
There was a box art leak which confirms Squidward, Vlad Plasmius, Jimmy Nutron and Raphael (and thus probably Donatello too) . Another leak recently confirms El Tigre

Over time, I've kind of grown to hate the very concept of Assist Trophies.
Stuff like the Famicom Wars pixel solders, Helirin, Thwomp, characters that wouldn't really work as playable characters, those are fine. But then they go and cram in folks like Isaac, Waluigi, Ashley, Shadow, Midna, Springman, Goroh, characters people want to play as, and it just comes off as lame.
It particularly stings when I'm here with a considerable chunk of my wishlist in AT/Pokeball hell, and then I see people going "be grateful they're in the game at all" when no one I play with will even let me turn on ATs/Pokeballs.

Look, lets be real here.
There are only so many characters they can add in, especially since Nick hasn't bothered to allow any of its recent shows grow in ten years, limiting the pool even further.
Eventually the wheel is gonna stop on one of the Rugrats.

Good to see this thread alive and kicking again! Can't wait for this game to officially be revealed and see the (hopefully massive) improvements the sequel can have over the original! Anyways, onto your question,
Squidward Tentacles = I can't think of anything specific for Squidward himself, but The Krusty Krab could be cool (Maybe inside the Krusty Krab where several minor characters are eating and watching the fight go down. Also, the sides of the Krusty Krab could be destroyed ala Kazuya's/Terry's Stages in Smash).
Raphael = Idk, maybe a construction site? Could've sworn the turtles fought like, Bebop and Rocksteady there at some point in the series. Or if they wanna go crazy, use locations from other turtle series besides the original (the early 2000s series, the 2012 series, the rise series).
Jimmy Neutron = Jimmy's Lab is an easy no brainer, alongside the candy bar and Retroland. But for a real wild pick, I'd like to see the Egg colliseum where Jimmy and the gang first met Poultra in the movie.
Vlad Plasmius = Vlad's Castle is the obvious choice for Vlad, however another Danny Phantom Stage that could be cool could be one based off of the Circus Gothica that the ghost Freakshow hosted.
El Tigre = The Miracle City Volcano (Could be like the Wild Thornberry's stage by having lava and magma platforms flowing down the middle that you can jump to and from, with el tigre villains watching from afar).
I'd LOVE to see assist trophies! It'd be great for casual games, allow more characters to participate, and just be a fun time all around! And unlike Smash, the NASB devs are much more in-tune with their fanbase, so I doubt they'd stick big fan requests into multi-game AT purgatories.

I think having other popular characters in a more prominent role isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's the insistence on keeping characters who were assist trophies as assist trophies two to three games in a row that bugs me, and it's inconsistent, because some characters got the boost next game. (Isabelle, Mac, etc.)
Like, Waluigi, Isaac, and Shadow would've been excellent additions to Smash 4, and honestly I think that's the only time they would've had the best chance, because roster slots were so limited in Ultimate.

Excellent choice for Danny Phantom, I've had the same idea myself before actually. As for El Tigre I really hope that their stage includes a riff of that iconic main theme like the Loud House stage does because it's just such a good song.
Yeah, you know that riff:
Also not to go off topic but it's incredible how we had a show with better Latin American representation in 2006 than Oy Primo, Disney's borderline upcoming offensive monstrosity.

I like how the riff plays in different sound from the episode The Good, The Bad, and The Tigre
Where Manny stabs a claw inside one of the villains tooth

I wouldn't mind it, but I think it should be primarily used for characters like say, Arnold or Eliza. I'd also hope that the ATs don't do all the work for you, so more like Fraymakers' assists than Smash's.
