49ers. Obviously my concerns are...

1. Receiver (I don't trust Moss/Crabtree)
2. Replacing Carlos Rogers (All-Pro corner we can't afford to keep. Our pass D was pretty average last year and it is a passing league.)
3. Peyton/Alex Smith debate.
4. Pass protection.

Hearing that Peyton worked out for the Niners is like the smallest ray of hope in my darkest hour. Oh and seeing him throw to Moss is like, my dream come true.

Eagles fan here, and they need LBs that aren't undersized and suck against the run and safeties that can actually do their job, same needs for the past three seasons.

Some lesser needs include depth at our OL and QB positions.

So after Desean Jackson got signed to a 5 year contract with the Eagles, he pulled a Rex Ryan and said, they are gonna win a super bowl within that time. Way to put that pressure back on your team. Dream Team worked out really well.

We actually have a lot more potential to do it than the Jets did last season, so I don't see a problem with his comment (not to put words in your mouth). Not sure where he said it, must've been off-camera cuz I didn't see any vids of him saying this, but yeah I'd say they will do it too (albeit with an if statement attached).

There's no need to make a statement like that. Look what Vince Young did when he said their team was the "dream team." The pressure + teams looking forward to playing them resulted in them having a very disappointing season and Reid almost getting fired. For Jackson to come out and say this, well, you're just putting another target on your back. One of the things you get if you choose to have a guy like this.

If you think the Dream Team nonsense is what made Vick throw terrible interceptions, the offense in general screwing up at the worst possible moments, and our studly defense handled by a misplaced coach... then I'm not sure what to tell you. I personally don't think it was even a contributing factor to any of that season.

Pressure is pressure. Did you know that the Giants played their best when their backs were against the wall? New York media constantly blasting them due to their struggles in the season, forcing them to come together in the locker room, with the rest being history. Don't ask me, go read up what Osi said to Skip Bayless. Stephen A Smith, who lives in New York, and has inside knowledge and would say the same thing as well. The Giants played well when their backs were against the wall.

Why do I bring this up? It's because it validates that pressure can have an effect on either your team or the opposition. You don't think in the NBA, after LeBron joined the Heat and said, "we're gonna win, not 1, not 2, not 3..." didn't piss the opposition off? You didn't think they brought their A game to Miami? You didn't think pressure played a role when LeBron came up super small in the Finals?

Back to the Eagles. You come out and say you're the dream team, you're gonna win it all, you got all these free agents coming to your team. Yeah, you're definitely not setting yourself up for big pressure. The Eagles put it on themselves, and didn't respond well. Their team personality can't handle that, and it showed during the season, when teams were looking forward to beating them every Sunday.

You don't think there was pressure on teams to get on Tim Tebow? Here's a white QB, who can't pass the ball, and is somehow embarrassing the league by playing his unconventional way of football that isn't effective at all. You don't think Tom Brady sent a message in the regular season, and again in the post season by decimating them?

I dunno, I just look at going up 20 points against the Niners and then losing 23-24, going up 2 scores against the Pats and then not running the ball effectively to keep that lead and shut down Tom Brady... It seemed like flaws we either already had or developed with terrible playcalling and game management. If you think pressure may be the root of that, then maybe you're right but I think it's something I've seen from the Eagles even when they were doing well in Vick's magic season. And would the same pressure not be on the Eagles when Rob Ryan called them out in the preseason, on top of "Dream Team"? Then they go decimate the Cowboys the first game. I just don't see it.

Manningham signs with the 9ers. They now have him and moss. I know its unlikely but Peyton in San Fran would immediately make them nfc favorites(IMO).

Cleveland?
St. louis?
Minnesota?

Gotta have ppl to throw to. And some semblance of a Defense.
As people said, anywhere and hes makes them the favorite.

Just like he made the Indianapolis Mannings contenders....until he was out for the season.

They were winners without him.......of the draft.

Matt Flynn just signed with the Seahawks for three years at up to $26 million dollars. Look's like Tavaris is going to be fighting for his starting position. Poor Dolphins though, still failing to sign anyone to their franchise.

I approve of this. I figured it was going to be either flynn, smith, or tannehill going to seattle.

smith is negotiating with miami

i think manning is going to sign with the titans, they're offering him the most, aren't in the NFC, and have the most complete offense of the 3 teams (assuming kenny britt is healthy)

and i stand by this and will for a very long time, peyton manning is the best pure QB to ever grace the game, he has never won less than 10 games outside of his rookie year, i don't think there is another QB to ever accomplish that

i completely agree. the reason why he hasnt won more championships is the lack of weapons he had with the colts. all the pieces around him were made weapons by him, not the other way around

i don't think it's that

the colts only needed a solid defense and that's what they usually had, they just always lacked depth

look at the giants, the front line of the giants has a ridiculous amount of depth, it clearly showed up in the playoffs

the colts lack this, you need depth, especially across the front line and the secondary as they take the bulk of the plays, the colts always lacked this

they also need a superstar on defense, this goes right in with the year they won a super bowl, they had bob sanders who, if healthy, is a great safety (ed reed and troy palomalu status basically), the one year he was healthy for in entirety was the year the colts won, peyton didn't have to do everything, he just had to be solid enough to score 17-21 points and the defense did its job

honestly, the colts are super lucky this year that andrew luck is coming out of the draft, any other year and peyton is still a colt so basically it was a good year for the colts to suck and a terrible year for peyton to be injured

Colts D stepped up the year they won the super bowl. Everyone was talking about how their last ranked run D would get owned by the Baltimore Ravens. They got stumped, and the rest is history.

I will agree with Skip Bayless. Peyton is the best REGULAR SEASON QB to grace the game. However, is post season numbers are average.

i think people kind of underrate his postseason career. he's hasnt had as much team success in the playoffs as say, tom brady (who is considered pretty much the best postseason qb maybe ever) but...well here:

Postseason Careers (attempts are pretty much the same)
Manning: 63.1% 5389 yds 29 TD 19 INT 88.4 qbrating 7.51 yds/att
Brady: 62.9% 5285 yds 38 TD 20 INT 87.8 qbrating 6.66 yds/att

He's lost a couple times in very big ways but for the most part he's been good

holy crap denver...

who do you guys like this year? Peyton with a defense (but no line or receivers) or Brady + brandon lloyd, but no defense?

As much as I love Manning I cannot help but feel bad for Tebow, he is getting a really raw deal. Sadly that is how the business goes.
