That isn't the Dante we got in PSABR. OG Capcom Dante is of course still on the table.... That abomination in PSABR is not Dante.. It's like OG Freddy Krueger vs Remake Freddy. Them sharing the same name means nothing. Most people looked at that "remake Dante" and immediately threw it in the garbage mentally. I was one of those people.

He's an Alternate Costume for this Dante.

So Capcom clearly doesn't care on whether they are the same Dante or not if they are willing to make DmC Dante a costume for DMC Dante. So as I said, that "DmC Dante is not DMC series Dante" doesn't work, even if technically it is true.

According to the trailer, the "???" appears to be a Bomberman collaboration as an Xbox exclusive mode. First, Super Bomberman R, and now Metal Gear Solid Delta.
Alright well that makes more sense than having "Snake vs. Monkey" censored on the Xbox site when the minigame's name doesn't hint at where the monkeys are from.

And I'm saying we will not get the Dante represented in PSABR regardless. The way he looks in PSABR will never come to Smash. I see them as two separate characters. I've always looked at them as 2 different entities. I don't really care how Capcom approaches it, they tried to rebrand the franchise and it didn't work..and that character redesign..YEESH..

Warning Issued
…That's not saying much.
Nor does it need to. Was simply letting my theory be known. The theory will start as soon as the next Smash game gets officially announced. From that point throughout it's life cycle, any character that crosses over with any other game that isn't Smash related just won't be in Smash AS A PLAYABLE FIGHTER that time around.

try not to double post
Yea yea thanks. Knew this already. Figured I'd leave it this time just so you could tell me the grass is green... There's another one btw. Don't forget to let me know.

Actually one Sony rep I'd really enjoy is someone from Wild ARMs. My pick would be Ashley from the second game since IIRC it's the best-regarded one in Japan and he has an edgy tokusatsu super form
I bought Wild Arms 5 and thought it was fun. I completed it even though I didn’t fully follow the story. Maybe it would have made more sense if I’d played the previous games. I liked Rebecca mostly because she’s voiced by Wendee Lee but Avril was my favorite otherwise. It’s a shame they seemed to run out of money at the end where the second half of the game isn’t really voiced. Too bad because they had some solid acting for most of the characters. I didn’t realize it was a Sony owned property though.

My brain did not work properly so it gave me the image of WarioWare Ashley as if she was from ARMS.

Actually because PSASBR is being considered a AAA title and Ken is in City of the Wolves, Ken will be cut from Smash too, it's time for Dan to step up :4wario2:
We don't know if ALL fighters are even returning yet is the issue. Dan would be a welcomed addition tbh. His goofy charisma would fit into Smash perfectly.

Not the worst either. I've had that belief SINCE PSABR released and nothing has proven me wrong thus far. As I stated originally, it is my personal theory and I stand by it. Even seeing Master Chief get into Fortnite automatically told me that Smash wasn't happening. Low and behold that gut feeling was correct.
Better theory; when characters from 20 year old crossover games join Smash, Alfonzo is in charge of being modded in as their official replacement.

Alfonzo: Leave it to me!

I now want this concept to happen and for Ashley and Red to be guests fighters in ARMS 2.
I mean, it wouldn't be the first crossover promotion for Ashley.

From Top-to-Bottom:
Daigasso Band Brothers/Jam with the Band: The game with Barbara the Bat. It's an outfit that Ashley appeared with in a web comic where Barbara invited Ashley to do a concert with her.
Legend of Zelda
Splatoon
Mother 3
A cross promotion with the Lawson stores in Japan
Monster Hunter
Tank Troopers
The left last one is a replacement for the Music badge in the 3DS menu. Remember that feature?
The right last one is just one of her speech bubbles. She has a ton more of them and besides her, Nikki and the Badge Bunny also got a bunch of them.
And then Crazy Galaxy which was a dedicated April Fools event for Ashley done for Nintendo Badge Arcade. So it's not a real thing....sadly. :emptysheep:

Sakurai literally said picking Kazuya has EVERYTHING to do with Kaz's Devil Gene powers and nothing to do with a ten-year-old game that was never all that popular. Just because you don't like that statement doesn't mean it isn't true.
Adding to that and this is coming from someone who is highly familiar with the Tekken franchise for a very long time, I can understand why they went with Kazuya since he had been in almost every entry except for the third game and is one of the most recognisable and iconic characters within Tekken.

The funniest part about this being, of course, that
(Tekken 8 spoilers)
both Kazuya AND Jin lose their powers by the end for Tekken 9

To me, beyond Kazuya having the Devil Gene powers that his father doesn't, I can see a couple more reasons why they went with him:
  • Jin might've made more sense marketing-wise if they wanted a main character who has the Devil Gene, but Tekken 7 pushed him out of the way in favor of focusing on the end of Kazuya and Heihachi's conflict.
  • Gameplay-wise, Kazuya is the base Mishima. In gameplay terms, a "Mishima" refers to a character who has every move Kazuya had in Tekken 1, plus the Electric Wind God Fist since it didn't make its debut until 3.

Give it three years I bet money that they will come back in the last Story DLC or something :p They already unkilled Heihachi, Namco aint got the balls to make that change permanent.

I want to ask something irrelevant to the topic/s that just popped my mind and has had me wondering for a long while, do we know why Wario is unlockable in Smash 4? And in both versions at that? It's such a bizarre choice for an unlockable character imo because I don't think anyone was doubting Wario was coming back. I wasn't around at the time of course but like.... it's Wario, who'd bet against him? And I always wondered not only why the reason for that was but also why he was again, unlockable in both versions. In fact in Wii U version, Wario is the only unlockable character to not be some form of clone or a retro/surprise pick which again baffles me that he was made unlockable over other characters who were unlockable in 64/Melee/Brawl.

Same thing here, except I don't know why Lucas was made a starter in Brawl. He honestly should've been unlockable.

I think a lot of the unlockable characters in each game are ones they added later in development, not just the clones and other characters confirmed to be added later like Sonic. So maybe Wario was just low priority for a while? Don't ask me why that would be beyond Sakurai thinking 4's roster would be Brawl-sized in 2013.

Maybe his animation overhaul to be "normal" instead of choppy like Game & Watch had something to do with it? Idk

I discussed this a bit before but it's possible Wario was developed later simply because there were a number of other Mario reps prioritized before him, and they wanted to make enough characters from other series before making Wario.
