Beat me to it. I think releasing a new Wii model a year before the Wii U coming out is a bit silly, gonna cause some confusion for some people. The picture they showed is lame, can hardly tell its become any slimmer, looks as though it can no longer be put vertically, which makes me laugh.

My guess as to why they removed gamecube support is to save production costs, seeing as the Wii is selling so badly, they want to make as much money as they can on each console sold. Would of been smart to release new colours.

Here's hoping hacks somehow allow gamecube controller support.

Sad for the people who still don't have a Wii. I guess Nintendo is liking their design of the Wii U so much they decided to cut compatibility.

This isn't really going to help sales if that's what they're going for. I'm guessing they're wanting people to move on from the GameCube controller. But that doesn't mean they have to cut compatibility of the discs or memory cards.

EDIT: Wait, that's for Europeans. lolol :]

thats a pack u can buy in the states for the normal wii u derp

So I suppose they just photoshopped the picture and put the words "Wii Family Edition" on the box and put the words "power" and "reset" in different places on the console and THEN put "PAL" on the box despite that you said its a pack that you can buy in the US then attach the picture to the article to make it look like Nintendo released a picture of the new console pack?

Looks to me you just wanted to find an excuse to give me ****.

What they SHOULD do if they wanted to make a decent amount of money before Wii U comes out, is change either the RAM, CPU or GPU and make it so that newer games can ONLY run on this console because they've been designed around the new hardware, forcing people to buy this new Wii if they want to play new games. (Skyward Sword anyone? Instant 6 million consoles sold)

Of course, this would be amazingly unfair for consumers, but its Nintendo, so they could get away with it....

I'd just wait for Wii U and play any new wii games on their if they did that lol >.>

I'm sure they'd still make tonnes of money though.

its only the 3rd highest selling console of all time and its total sales are nearly as much as 360 and ps3 put together.

where do you get these ideas from richard?

nah you pretty much drop it into our laps everytime buddy :)
I'm not talking about total sales, I'm talking about the current rate at which the Wii is selling. For example 1 thousand units sold every week worldwide nowdays, as apposed to 10 thousand sold every week worldwide around launch. These numbers are in no way accurate, they are purely used as an example.

Oh so you also think they photoshopped the picture and there were a bunch of fake articles all of over the internet too? I advise re reading the first page because its very clearly shown he was giving me **** for no reason.

If you're going to try and own someone over the internet, at least be correct in what you're owning them in.

NoJ is smart.

The Wii is selling badly. Almost every game is shovelware except for the bigger titles. It will sell even worse because you only get half the ability of the original Wii for the same price while the other bundle includes the same capabilities and includes an extra remote. It'll be really sad for the people that buy the toned-down bundle.

Not to say for NoE where they practically removed the smarter bundle altogether.

escro get a wii right now!

That site is always correct. I saw the mario kart edition wii's at **** smith for $149.

That is insanely cheap. I suggest you go to **** smith or price match it from eb games.

Problem is, i havent left the house in over a month cuz of hsc and i dunno if my rents will agree to buy in advance...
And heres the kicker: my birthday is on the 24th. Yes, one day after the old wii's will be replaced with the newer ones.

u are losing out if u dont get the wii before the 23rd imo

Gamecube compatibility makes Brawl playable (and a few other games that let u use GC controller... all of them are better with GC controller if the option's available lol.)

Plus backwards compatibility with GC games is a pretty legit asset.

ok so since the other thread didnt get many helpful replies ill try here:

so. it is now the 27th of october and my wii is still non existant.
at this rate ill be getting one by early november, hopefully earlier though.
so if anyone could shed any light on current stocks of older wii's in australian stores that would be greatly appreciated.
im stuck at home studying and can only leave the house to go to my school to do my hsc exams. school is too close for me to stop by at a game store on the way or whatever. sucks.

so yeah, need some outside info lol
