Just to add, the differences of the echoes are:
Giygas- Red effects, different reflector. New Final Smash.
Ninten- PK Rock that acts more like PK Flash than PK Freeze, PSI Magnet on both sides, PK Fire activates if hits the ground and acts more like arc fire, no snake tether recovery, PSI Teleport instead of PK thunder.
Medusa- A different set of specials, the ones deleted from SSB4. New Final Smash.
Celica- Spells and sword do not break. Summons Alm for Final Smash.
Obstagoon- Different side-b and no fire effects. New Final Smash.

As a woman who pockets Ganon, sometimes I tell myself if Ganon can get a better moveset other than being a tankier version of a fast character.

Captain Facondorf never made any sense. But I think a Mewtwo-Giygas situation would be neat. I mean, look at Giygas... They are both psychic-fetus-like-cat.

Let's start with Echoes:
64e: Octoling (Inkling) - Has slightly different weapons and focused on defensive play compared to the Inklings' offense such as the Octobrush and Sprinklers or Suction Bombs.
38e 2: Shadow (Sonic) - Shares some basic attacks while also having a few unique moves using Chaos Control - such as Teleportation instead of a Spring Jump.
54e: Medusa (Palutena) - Recycles some of Palutena's older specials.
4: Newcomer Echo - Sanae Kochiya (Echo of Reimu) - Doesn't use the Yin-Yang Orb to bounce off enemies, but instead fires a chargeable star projectile that shoots danmaku around instead.
5: (I know they fight completely differently) Goro Majima (Echo of Kazuma Kiryu) - Has different Heat Gauge attacks and properties, but share basic normals and special move functions.

Octolings as an echo would be a waste, in my opinion. Inkling is a Splatoon 1 rep, not a Splatoon 2 rep, and Octoling could so easily be completely unique. Splatoon is Nintendo's #4 franchise right now, it deserves more than just one full character.

Considering all the available gear that both can access, they can give a unique moveset to both of them to maximize the available equipment.

So, I was lurking around the Geno thread (yes, that thread's a guilty pleasure of mine though I don't support), and I found this link.

It's a second-rate trying hard "leak" that tells about the possible SNK content, then proceeds to botch it up with saying that Crash is the 5th fighter even though the higher-ups said he's deconfirmed.

But an interesting note are the last two comments on the post. It stated that Smash Bros' YouTube has a new private video uploaded. Everyone's calling that it's a Direct or a presentation for Terry, or some sort.

In short, ignore the leak, though the last 3 comments are worth considering.

Good list but the only one I have a hard time seeing is how Sub-Zero would be a Scorpion fight since their kits are completely different. I suppose a clone fighter would work in the sense of Ganondorf and Falcon but not sure if they are using Echo in that way anymore. Just my opinion though.

A source of Sabi on her Discord is saying that the next character is not Crash or Hayabusa. Later on, Vergeben also said it wasn't Hayabusa, leading some validity to that claim (though it's still not a full disconfirmation for CP5, much less in general).

As much as I don't like Echo fighters, I'll still play this game. I've just added what I would change so they are at least Melee clone levels of different.

#14e Bowser (83) - Dry Bowser (Basically a smaller Giga Bowser)

#36e Diddy Kong (84) - Dixie Kong (Slower than Diddy Kong, Some standard attacks send opponents at different angles, Up-B is her version of the Spinning Kong, Neutral B is a similar move to the Giant Punch but the more you charge the move, the further her hair goes)

#38e Sonic (85) - Shadow (Shadow's kick attacks have a flame effect to them, Some standard attacks send opponents at different angles, Neutral Air is a multi-hit, Up-B is Chaos control which is basically Mewtwo's teleport, Side Special is the Chaos Spear that Shadow can throw and Down Special is the Burning Spin Dash custom move from Smash 4)

#50e Greninja (86) - Sceptile (Uses leaf blades instead of Water Kunais, Some standard attacks send opponents at different angles, charges up an Energy ball that breaks upon hit but deals a lot of damage and knockback, Side-B is Pursuit which deals a lot of shield damage and Leaf Storm that acts like Hero's Up-B)

I don't personally see a reason to add her if she gets in... it would be a bit surprising considering she'd be up against Resident Evil, Ace Attorney and possibly Monster Hunter, to name a few, but it's nothing that the fandom truly calls impossible imo. Having less chances than someone else doesn't mean you're outright not happening ever - as what people insisted was the case with the characters in my signature.

It's not like she's breaking any fanrules either: "not the protagonist" was never really a thing since Pikachu and Jigglypuff were in Smash 64 but not Trainer, even if these characters tend to be less numerous than the protagonists; and "too overtly sexual" was already broken by Bayonetta, so...
