Hot take:
I don't think Waluigi should be in Smash. I think a lot of his reputation comes from him being an assist trophy or otherwise insignificant. While he does play a major role in some games (such as DDR: Mario Mix and Mario Party 3), it pales in comparison to other potential choices from both inside the Mario series (King Boo in Luigi's Mansion and Captain Syrup in Wario Land) and outside of it (Porky, sharing the major antagonist role with Gigyas, from EarthBound and Krystal, a recurring character and Fox's love interest, from Star Fox). Also, if Waluigi were to get in, what then? You can't joke about him being AT'd/spirit'd because he's a fighter. Plus he becomes generic in comparison to the rest of the cast once his minute in the spotlight is up. Additionally, he doesn't have anything that the other Mario characters in Smash do not or can't bring to the table. (Geno would have a more interesting moveset IMO.) Finally, he's pretty boring overall; not only was the reasoning behind Waluigi's creation was "Wario needed a partner" in Mario Power Tennis (or whatever the Mario Tennis 64 game was), but he lacks an interesting personality. (Being a snobby prick was already Wario's gig.) Overall, Waluigi would feel generic compared to the rest of the Smash roster, since he wouldn't bring a lot of new stuff to the table, nor would he have a distinct personality. He's also not as significant to the Mario series as less popular characters such as King Boo and Captain Syrup. In short:
Waluigi sucks.
Waluigibros are cool though.
So... I think Byleth will one of, if not the first, fighters after the FP is done. Also, who's to say we can't get multiple characters at once like we did in Sm4sh?
Aanyways...
If Crash is in then I hope his reveal trailer is something like that. Kind of what like

I don’t see why a Dark Souls rep wouldn’t make more sense than a Tales rep. Dark Souls is much more popular. It’s also one of the most influential games of this decade, essentially spawning a new genre of games.
I‘m not too gung-ho about it, but the Smash community really underrates how much sense a DS rep would make. I think it’d be well deserved.
I think that's because Chosen Undead hasn't had fan support in regards to Smash until about... last December?
Meanwhile, Sakurai mentioned that he'd considered Heihachi before (like Chrom), and Lloyd has had fan support for a decent while already, longer than CU anyway. However, Dark Souls in Smash would be nice and, while not highly likely, is still possible.
Thing about Geno fans is we've had twenty years to get over what naysayers think.
Yikes!
I think a mii costume is the best fit for Geno, we don’t need another Mario stage if sakurai wants to continue bringing new worlds, and Genos moveset isn’t that unique the mii gunner totally misses the mark or anything.
I don't think Geno would come with a new stage if he were added into Smash, especially since he's from an already represented series.
