I've always been more of a Spyro boy myself but I won't lie having Crash in Smash with how much of a big rivalry 90's Sony and Nintendo had would be amazing. I still remember that commercial with Crash yelling at NoA.

Here's my dream reveal if they do Crash.

In a Nintendo direct, they transition to what looks like a new Crash game. Just like this commercial, a guy in a Crash costume shows up outside Nintendo headquarters doing his thing with the megaphone. After a few insults, some security guards grab him and escort him inside the Nintendo building. They sit him down in a room and eventually, Doug Bowser walks in. After a couple of questions, he hands him an envelope with the Smash logo on it. Bam!

It would be way cool because it would be a different style than all of the other reveals. It would also save Sakurai's team a good amount of money so they can blow that Scorpion reveal trailer out of the water...

Define 'big'. Because I'd personally quantify a load of remaining series to be pretty big, especially if you're not focusing on international appeal.

You've got mobile stuff like Granblue and Kancolle, and the juggernaut multi-media franchise that is Fate. Plus iDOLM@STER.
You've got long-running rhythm games like Beatmania, Taiko no Tetsujin, etc.
You've got everything handled by SCEJ (not that I expect these to come to Smash).
Then everything that never topped the charts, but still had a notable presence (Everything from DoA to Silent Hill to Bubble Bobble to "Tales of")
and a lot more.

There's plenty of potential for Western characters, but it's short-sighted to think Japan's potential has been spent.
I mean franchises that have worldwide appeal. I don't know how many "Big" Japanese franchises are left without a rep.

I hope when the smash bros roster is complete they make a PSABR style cgi video at the end showcasing all the characters, and use that to advertise the complete version of smash bros, or even just a remake of everyone is here would be enough
I just want them to finish making those short numbered trailers for all the DLC characters. Because when you edit them all together, they make an amazing montage.

Was so disappointed when Piranha Plant was the last character so far to get one...

Hot take:
I don't think Waluigi should be in Smash. I think a lot of his reputation comes from him being an assist trophy or otherwise insignificant. While he does play a major role in some games (such as DDR: Mario Mix and Mario Party 3), it pales in comparison to other potential choices from both inside the Mario series (King Boo in Luigi's Mansion and Captain Syrup in Wario Land) and outside of it (Porky, sharing the major antagonist role with Gigyas, from EarthBound and Krystal, a recurring character and Fox's love interest, from Star Fox). Also, if Waluigi were to get in, what then? You can't joke about him being AT'd/spirit'd because he's a fighter. Plus he becomes generic in comparison to the rest of the cast once his minute in the spotlight is up. Additionally, he doesn't have anything that the other Mario characters in Smash do not or can't bring to the table. (Geno would have a more interesting moveset IMO.) Finally, he's pretty boring overall; not only was the reasoning behind Waluigi's creation was "Wario needed a partner" in Mario Power Tennis (or whatever the Mario Tennis 64 game was), but he lacks an interesting personality. (Being a snobby prick was already Wario's gig.) Overall, Waluigi would feel generic compared to the rest of the Smash roster, since he wouldn't bring a lot of new stuff to the table, nor would he have a distinct personality. He's also not as significant to the Mario series as less popular characters such as King Boo and Captain Syrup. In short: Waluigi sucks.

Waluigibros are cool though.:tired:

So... I think Byleth will one of, if not the first, fighters after the FP is done. Also, who's to say we can't get multiple characters at once like we did in Sm4sh?

Aanyways...
If Crash is in then I hope his reveal trailer is something like that. Kind of what like TheAJJohnson TheAJJohnson said.
I don’t see why a Dark Souls rep wouldn’t make more sense than a Tales rep. Dark Souls is much more popular. It’s also one of the most influential games of this decade, essentially spawning a new genre of games.

I‘m not too gung-ho about it, but the Smash community really underrates how much sense a DS rep would make. I think it’d be well deserved.
I think that's because Chosen Undead hasn't had fan support in regards to Smash until about... last December? :dizzy: Meanwhile, Sakurai mentioned that he'd considered Heihachi before (like Chrom), and Lloyd has had fan support for a decent while already, longer than CU anyway. However, Dark Souls in Smash would be nice and, while not highly likely, is still possible.
Thing about Geno fans is we've had twenty years to get over what naysayers think.
:warioc:
Yikes!
I think a mii costume is the best fit for Geno, we don’t need another Mario stage if sakurai wants to continue bringing new worlds, and Genos moveset isn’t that unique the mii gunner totally misses the mark or anything.
I don't think Geno would come with a new stage if he were added into Smash, especially since he's from an already represented series.

Ooookkaaayyyy....

This seeemed quite interesting. For one, I'm pretty much neutral with Crash. Mom and Dad used to have a PS1 with...I dunno, that one racing game on it? Not sure.

Either way, it's my birthweek and things are already heating up.

I'm still rooting for a RSP (random Sakurai pick) if they wanna surprise the fandom or any of the two just to make them shut up.

i was thinking to myself if DOOM or ES would have a better chance when it comes to bethesda properties

i was trying to do my research, and man, when comparing all of the elder scroll games together

View attachment 242597

i think we're really underestimating how popular skyrim got. no wonder todd howard kept pushing the rereleases, that **** sold. makes me wonder how successful ES6 is gonna be.
Depends I guess..I mean, a lot of more casual Skyrim fans..the majority most likely, seem to forget that the series is called The Elder Scrolls and not Skyrim.

Oh, a ton.
- Kingdom Hearts
- Monster Hunter
- NieR
- Ace Attorney
- Tekken
- Namco's Tales series
- BlazBlue
- Guilty Gear
- Soul Calibur
- Dead Rising
- Ninja Gaiden
- Dead or Alive
- Devil May Cry
- Resident Evil
- Senran Kagura (Kinda doubt it'd get a character since..well..you know)
- Ghosts n Goblins
- Disgaea
- Chrono Trigger
- Octopath Traveller
- Shin Megami Tensei
....and many more I can't currently think of.

Do I believe all of these series are very likely? Not really. But Japan still has a plenty of big name series they could pull from.

You also forgot to mention some SEGA IPs such as Yakuza and Phantasy Star, two very alive, very diverse, and very successful series.

Also why mention Octopath Traveler and not Bravely too?

I don't even know why anyone would ask why a leaker doesn't just outright say who the character is instead of just giving vague hints or just saying who isn't in, that's basically a one way ticket to destination ****ed courtesy of the Nintendo Ninjas (and that's without getting into how skeptical Smash Fans on internet forums are)

Either way, it's that the best, most 100% credible leakers probably have advanced information available. Though on one hand, said info could be truly hype-worthy so they keep it to themselves and wait when the time is critical to strike.

I'm hearing stuff about Reimi being likely or some ****, anyone got precise info?
It basically stems from a guy who's leaked a few tiny tidbits of Touhou over the year. AoCF for switch back in April before it was announced in May. He also tagged in Reimu being in Smash in this post (pertinent info, this post was in a Niconico thread on a board completely unrelated to videogames). In August he posted drafts of Reimu for a new Touhou game. He claims it from the developer of Touhou 17.5. 17.5 was announced at the beginning of this month and the chibi like artstyle matches, but due to it being literal drafts, it's not confirmed at this point. Today (Yesterday if you want to be technical) he said the rumors of Reimu in Smash still exist and posted a music list of what the Doujin Music circles have worked on for smash.

Actual deets on the recent leak by A Ayumi Tachibana
a decent time line of events from Exiliify Exiliify

None of this is set in stone. Nothing makes it likely. But I still want it to happen.

Haha, this is great, Hayabusa, Crash and Reimu all potential frontrunners. Whoever character 5 is, people are gonna be really curious if someone here is right or wrong

Ryu Hayabusa would be the third try for the German Voice actor to speak out Ryu wrong. I guess they did it wrong they did a new try to record Ryu for Ultimate....

Can we change the survey at the top of the page about our impressions of the last direct into something else like "which character will be fighter#5?"
with the rumored characters like Crash, Ryu Hayabusa, Doom Slayer, Capcom rep and others?

So I wake up this morning, and this supposed "really legitimate Crash leak you guys" turns out to be not so credible, after all? What a surprise.

Ok but hear me out

Amaterasu.

Mainly cause they’ve teased a new Okami game (no, Okami-den for DS didn’t count) and she’d be perfect for promotion

sobs in Viewtiful Joe... when will he come back? WHEEEENNNNN???
Finally, someone who gets it!

I might actually just put those first two lines in my signature if that's alright with you

Ok, people saying Papageno is bad:

you guys don’t clearly watch his content. He’s very good at being middle ground completely. He’s a good dude with a solid heart. The only thing I hated that he did was team up to do a E3 thing with BlockedContent and LaxChris.

Both are super terrible and go and cover fake leaks which I’m sure half they make up. LaxChris even said he would stop covering fake leaks but it probably stopped his revenue and he went back to it. Blocked and Lax are greedy lazy youtubers. Papageno puts heart and thought into his videos.
Honestly, yeah. PG's intro and outro might annoy me to no end, but he's at least covering every leak with a healthy amount of doubt.

Ryu Hayabusa would be the third try for the German Voice actor to speak out Ryu wrong. I guess they did it wrong they did a new try to record Ryu for Ultimate....
"Announcer" and "pronounce". The words you're looking for are "announcer" and "pronounce".
And did the German announcer really mispronounce Ryu's name that badly? I'll admit that I've had Ultimate set to English essentially since it came out, but I don't remember Ryu's name being mispronounced back in Smash 4.

The more characters that get leaked, the more chances a random pick will come out.

For every character that gets added into the discussion pool, the lesser their chances become to say the least. I mean, they all have different sources saying different things. Though only one is truly legitimate.

The german announcer pronounces his name as "Ryyyuu" in Smash 4. It sounded weird at first but it's not to bad. In Ultimate he just says Ryus name without "stretching" anything. But to me, it sounds like if the took the announcer-clip from Smash 4 and shorten it. It sounds off.

I play the game in english as well (because Xander Mobus is awesome and english is more fitting for a fighting game imo) and had the language changed a few times to german and...man, as someone who is interested in voice acting, this guy sounds so bored in Ultimate. He is doing this since Brawl and he was pretty good there but in Ultimate...sorry but just no.

Oh yeah, I vaguely remember that. . . but yeah, the few times I switched Ultimate to German, I wasn't too impressed, either. Thank god the game has an option for switching the game's language, without changing the entire console. Though, the main reason why I still keep it in English is because I dread the German Pokémon voices. Trainer in Brawl was just horrible.
Funny you should mention in interest in voice acting, though, cause I'm also low-key interested in that. I still haven't gotten around to actually getting myself a mic even though I intend to for well over a year now, but the intent is there. And of course I like doing my own attempts at announcer calls.
