Geno or waluigi would be cool but what i meant is a character that isn't a unique person just one of a multitude of itself like yoshi or pirhanna plant. (Goomba or a koopa troopa or a slime from dragon quest)

One thing to note in the soul series is that Mitsurugi and Sophitia kind of share the role of posterboy and postergirl of the series. Remember than when VI was revealed, the first two reveals were them.

It's quite interesting, as when looking at it, there's not much consistency in regards to which Soul Calibur character appears in the crossovers. Taki and Mitsurugi appeared in Namco x Capcom, Natsu from V appears in Project X Zone, Sophitia like your video shows appeared in Warriors Orochi and Siegfried/Nightmare are kinda the leads in the spinoffs (Legends) or costumes (Little Big Planet).

Yeah, I remember the reveal trailer and gameplay showcase trailers. They also made them practice dummies for the Kilik, Nightmare, Groh, and Xianghua reveals, too. Aside from SC6, they also tend to use different Sophitia stage themes for trailers lol.

Being the wandering swordsman seeking strength type, I can see Mitsurugi getting in; dude is like Soul Calibur's equivalent to Ryu. Gameplay-wise, Sophitia fills that trope; throughout the series, we've had 4 different characters with movesets based off of her (Cass, Lizardman, Pat, and Pyrrha) and one that was planned but scrapped: Azola (who later made an appearance in SC4). Heck, even the Charades in Namco x Capcom had her moveset.

It was grouped with the playable character logos, not the stages. The cut Brain Age logo, however, was grouped with the stages.

The Chorus Kids were absolutely going to be playable at some point, between the logo, Gematsu, and the Sneaky Spirits.

Where can I find these? I've looked them up on the cutting room floor and I couldn't find anything related to the picture of the logos.

You're kidding me? I've got an empty spot on my spirit board collection and you're telling me there is no way to fix it because I didn't play a demo of a game that I had no interest in playing? That is pretty messed up Nintendo.

I'm sure it'll be added into the regular Spirit Board rotation in a couple months the way the Pokemon Let's Go spirits and the Labo spirits were.

This really sucks, I greatly enjoyed the Mario & Luigi games.. so filled with potential. Their way of portraying the Mario cast was better than 90% of Nintendo's own work. It's a shame it had to be this way....

I was really hoping that, now that their console and portable systems were the same console, that the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series would get made into one series.

Not a crossover game like Paper Jam. But a game that was just Mario & Luigi gameplay/writing, combined with Paper Mario's art style.

I mean, Nightmare also wields the Soul Calibur, the thing the series is called.

Nightmare wields the Soul Edge, not the Soul Calibur. They're two different, opposite, magic swords.

Where can I find these? I've looked them up on the cutting room floor and I couldn't find anything related to the picture of the logos.

Sadly the logos themselves never got included. Instead what were found were text strings relating to them. This probably isn't the correct format, but it was things like logo_mario.png, logo_dk.png, etc. Logo_rhythmparadise.png or the equivalent was listed, but because the logo was never made, the file was empty.

I’m starting to think he was right all along

Because remember back in smash 4 a guy was on a hot streak in smash 4 and he claimed shulk was next but ended up being robin instead we’ll later down the line despite that he was still right about shulk in smash as a matter of fact all of his claims were right some were just cut

Ryu Hayabusa might be the same case which is he may have gotten the character 4 wrong but ryu could be character 5 of wave 1 or part of wave 2 (the info was right just not on him being next)

Either way, I think he’s very likely. I think Sakurai wants to represent every major Japanese company, Koei Tecmo is next up.

That guy was the gematsu leaker, he was more credible though, he leaked villager and wii fit before the first E3 reveal and other things, and someone else later on heard that Shulk was playable along with B jr. on a kart. Unlike the Gematsu dude'claim and Vergeben's leak about SQ dlc only Shifty has heard about Ryu being the dlc character. I'd wouldn't consider Ryu the next character just yet unless someone like VR, sabi, or Vergeben say it's him, there's too many characters that are still eligible.

Another factor is that Ryu recently got added to a game with Ultimate in the title. This was in a PapaGenos vid, but I cant remember the title. There's a possibility that Shifty misinterpreted his info

The obvious answer for me is, rather predictably; Toad. There's a couple of things I think he has going for him:

• His assets are already in the game with dynamic facial animations and a few varied attacks ready made saving Sakurai some time. Perfect for a bonus character.
• Seeing him alongside other members of his species is nothing new so it's not as weird as double Chrom
• He can bring a bunch of bonus BONUS characters with a Toadette, a Captain Toad alt, Blue and Yellow Toad and even a Toadsworth alt. Decent amount of alt options with even regular recolours counting as characters in New Super Mario Bros.
• He's a character even non fans have agreed finding it odd he hasn't appeared as a playable fighter yet being the most universally recognised character Nintendo has that isn't playable in Smash.

That said kudos to the person who suggested Anna. She'd probably be my second choice depending on which weapons she uses even if it feels weird refering to her as a regular ally like Yoshi, Toad or a Pokémon.

When I first saw the Ryu reveal tweet for Warriors of Orochi 4 I had the same thoughts. Likely Shifty's source heard a combination of Ryu Hayabusa and Ultimate, put two and two together, and made an incorrect assumption.

I'll fess up, I'm certainly punchy at times with my jokes. Most of the time I make fun of points more so than people. While I acknowledge that can still hurt, it really is nothing personal. I acknowledge this could be seen as a fault though and I'm working on finding a good balance between joking and being serious.

I’d have to go with Kamek. It’s hard to distinguish him from any old magikoopa so it could work. It would be fun to have a mage/caster character, and Sakurai could get creative with it like with PP.

Plus, the Yoshi series would get another character, and another OG 64 character would get their villain playable.

I don’t particularly want this since I’d rather have specific characters for the most part, but it’s an interesting question. And I feel like there are quite a few I’d be okay with.

No one else I'm really opposed to in such an extreme way considering Smash is basically in "Everything's a Bonus" mode with how big the roster is at the moment.

The Space Pirate/Zebesian from Metroid would be a fun fighter incorporating moves and abilities from all the various forms of Space Pirate. Would be decently fast and mobile with some good projectile spacing.

Also Twilight Princess Darknut, a degrading armour mechanic would be cool where he starts off super slow but hits very hard, to super fast and major combo abilities as the character takes damage. Think like a heavy hitter like a slower Ganondorf, to a speedier Lucina

For me this sounds like Nintendo don't have any plans for an OW character in Smash. At least for now.

Honestly I don't think Sakurai would go with Overwatch if we're gonna get a Blizzard rep, knowing him he would pick a rep from some of the franchises that made Blizzard what it is. And I'm not a hater of Tracer or anything, in fact Overwatch is the only Blizzard game I've played in my life.

Kirkhope isn't involved with Rare, if Microsoft wants they could make a new Banjo game without him as the composer. Kaplan, as yeet123 said, is the director of Overwatch and he obviously would know something if an OW character in Smash happens.

On one hand I see it happening, on the other hand we didn't see ANY gameplay outside of 2 moves and Sakurai does hold KoF in high regard seeing as how much he took from it for Smash since 64

Of course, I also asked about the possibility of an SNK character in Smash Bros. The answer was not unexpected: “I’d love that, please Nintendo-san!”
