I recently had a dream that Sash Lilac was the next DLC Character after Terry.

Freedom Planet could look amazing in Smash imo

I'm starting to wonder if the last Fighters Pass character is actually first-party?

After all, remember in Smash 4 we had one new first-party as part of that run in the form of Corrin? Wondering if it could be the same case here...
Corrin wasn't a part of a pass, and could afford to come with less content than Bayo or Ryu.

If we get a first party character next, they'll need to be from a new game/franchise to bring new content similar to third parties brought.

So two theories here.

Regional Theory and Platform Theory.

Regional Theory:
:ultjoker:: United States
:ulthero:: Japan
:ultbanjokazooie:: United Kingdom
Terry Bogard: Latin America

Platform Theory:
:ultjoker:: Playstation
:ulthero:: NES
:ultbanjokazooie:: Nintendo 64
Terry Bogard: Arcade

If true any ideal or isn't broken any takers for the final spot?
Pro tip: any pattern based theory can be discarded by thinking about it this way: can you picture a character not being picked because they don't line up with this pattern? If the idea sounds absurd, that's because it is and the theory is equally absurd.

Okay, how about this, if Dracula is in the game, can Geralt of Rivia be in the game?
It's complicated, as technically the Witcher originated as a book series. However, so did Shin Megami Tensei, and I think it's fair to say that Witcher is known for games over anything else.

Another factor that helps is that the author of the books sold the rights to videogame appearances in perpetuity to CD Projekt Red, so they're the only ones that need to be negotiated with.

Geralt also appears in Soul Calibur. I'm gonna say he can happen.

For what it's worth, Andrzej Sapkowski considers the video game version of the series and character "its own thing"; he didn't make it - it's a different form of art in his opinion. And for a series with multiverse travelling capabilities (Geralt was also in Monster Hunter lol), I still think Geralt or Ciri can happen. I just don't think it's super likely, but it seems like a reasonable exception.

Soul Calibur doesn't have the same rules for guests as Smash. I'm pretty sure they don't have any rules for guests honestly. lol
They do have rules, they need to negotiate with certain people or companies to include these “guests” such as Link, Heihachi Mishima, Ezio Auditore, YoRHa No. 2 Type B, etc or difficulties would likely arise.

Those aren't rules, that's copywrite law. :p

I think he means Soul Calibur has no rules about which kinds of characters can be guests. Video games, movies, books, tv, they don't care. Smash is video game characters only.

Dunno, so far i think they want to focus on big characters that use swords. there are a couple of exceptions to this rule though, Spawn, albeit you can say that they didn't had any experience back then with western ips and Spawn was a western big thing at the time. they still gave him an axe. Heihachi doesn't count because he was supposed to be Cloud. Kosmos was an extra, Kratos... you can argue he uses sword/axe thinguies and 2b mainly uses a sword.

people love to argue Darth vader and yoda, but at least sword battles, light sabers and magical knights are CENTER things on starwars, so, i don't think they didn't fit.

Still.. ezio isn't exactly a swordsman, but swords for him aren't out of teh question i guess.. and he fitted the time period?

Nah they'd be too busy going "Ew! Another anime sword guy! Do not want. Do not want."
*Doesn't pay attention to the fact that he never really unsheathes it.*
I don't think those people got that far, they just saw a sword and got pissed. I just wish these people got over it regarding Swords and Anime visuals

Yeah, it's Tekken that doesn't have rules. Money can't even explain Geese, Negan, and Noctis being in the same game.
I love how canonically these characters just exist in the Tekken Universe. Akuma knew Kazumi Mishima. South Town is just another city and Geese is Heihachi's rival. The Saviors are just some doomsday preppers who live in the woods that work with Master Raven. Noctis is Lars' friend and his continent is just a place now. It's so fun. I wish more games went out of their way to make guests work in canon. I think Mortal Kombat does that too but not to the same extent.

I honestly don't want any more fighting game reps in Smash, simply because I want the goofy s**t. Imagine adding Cooking Mama (or another character that has no fighting mechanics to base off of) into Smash and seeing the weirdness Sakurai could come up with. Fighting games seem like an easy way to get new people into the game.

Terry, Ryu, and Ken already have base movesets they could go off of. Other characters don't at all, which makes seeing their moves fun!

I think monster hunter world would be a better example for Geralt than soul cailbur.

Thanks to magic and multiverse hopping shenanigans (as well as the author differentiating the two), they can play off the books as being just another visit of Ciri/Geralt but in our world.

I, kind of agree with this...
I can see the appeal with seeing a lot of fighting game characters joining a fighting game crossover like Smash, but at the same time, you kind of know what to expect from them since they will more than likely carry over (at least most of) their original series playstyle into Smash. Making them a bit more of a simple/safe/predictable (Can't really think of the right word to use here) inclusion.

I think it might be best to include these type of characters more sparingly in that case and focus more on characters from different genres that never appeared in fighting games before and see how their gameplay of origin translates into a fighting game based environment. I think that might bring in a more interesting and unorthodox play styles that havent been seen before.

But that's just me...

I'm the weird mix of 'I'd love to see new non-combatants get translated into Smash' but also 'these fighting game characters are dope in their games, but I wish I got to use them in Smash'. Smash is no Street Fighter, and seeing Ryu - a dude who has (and/or his fighting style) been in almost everything - translate into the series was still refreshing. Where else can he grab swords, jump around on platforms, get eaten by Kirby, and beat someone by simply tossing them off a cliff? And why would we limit ourselves to just Ryu when Tekken, Guilty Gear, etc. play nothing alike and all of their games play nothing like Smash and aren't nearly as accessible? What else could bring them all together?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that whoever they put in this game is fun. I like my Phoenix Wrights and Savvy Stylists as much as my Chun-lis and Sophitias. Por que no los dos?

Much like KatKit I'm solidly in the middle. I think having many fighting game icons clash is beyond hype for me. I'm praying for Heihachi and Sol. At the same time that doesn't mean I want it to be all fighters even if I love Street Fighter. To me, the hype comes from seeing gaming worlds collide. I obviously love non-combatants like Style Savvy or Phoenix Wright, but I play lots of games and being in Smash means adding them to a new world where Terry can adopt Ness or Ryu can juggle a Bob-Omb or Ken can work out with Samus or Heihachi can challenge Ganondorf to determine the true king of evil.

I want to see all gaming worlds collide. It's exciting from a gameplay perspective to see how a non-action character will work, but to me it's equally exciting to potentially see Street Fighter vs. Tekken vs. KOF vs. Guilty Gear.

The key, as I've said before, is variety.

I'm more of a fan of seeing the most iconic characters in video game history duke it out. It's a little funny seeing the odd ball character make it in once in a while but their novelty wears off fast.

I'll buy them all, but I'd rather see a character that gets me hype or introduces me to a new game worth playing versus something that's silly. Like if Wii Fit Trainer was a DLC character instead of base game for Smash 4, I don't really think she'd receive any positive reactions outside of memes. And Piranha Plant is not worth six dollars.

Not to be rude or anything..but if we get a Chain-Sword user, I want Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses....however, since I already know how some people react to that..allow me to share my avatar with three relevant quotes in it..
View attachment 240354
If she has a moveset focusing on her whip sword, and it works like Ivy's or Rondoline's, I'm all for it.
Nothing wrong with Byleth; I'm down for a 3 Houses rep just for the music alone... but since we're talking about our wants for chain swords in Smash then, ummm:

And it does fire!
I think Ivy is too sexual for Smash. If she lost her more extreme dominatrix aspects (I don't think she should, because I think characters in Smash should be true to their source material), I would like the costume on the right in the following picture. (The costume on the left would work for Smash, but I don't care for it.)

Her Soul Calibur V outfit mixed her regular attire with her full dress uniform, and its my favourite variant of her default costume. It'd only need slight alterations, too.

I think Byleth is honestly more interesting than Ivy.
Even then, if we're going to get a Soul Calibur rep, it's going to be no one else but Siegfried. It seems protagonists always come first when a new series gets represented in Smash Bros so Byleth has a way better chance of being in Smash than Ivy.

I could get behind Yoshimitsu as the ideal Tekken / Soul Calibur representative honestly, but his move set is hardly the one I favour most of those games. However, for cross over purposes, it fits really well.

I'm expecting Nightmare above all else. He's the series mascot even if he's the one who wields Soul Edge, and he'd be a very notable villain. Funnily enough, Siegfried wasn't even a character in Soul Calibur 2. He was an alternate costume for Nightmare.

It's Sieg's story, but other characters (Kilik/Sophitia/Xianghua/Ivy/Nightmare), have been given huge roles at times, and/or are heavily promoted. I could easily see Soph or Kilik getting in.

i could imagine Nightmare being Siegfried's final smash where he becomes consumed by the power of the Soul Edge to deal a massive flurry of sword slashes on the opponent like Ike and Cloud.

The games have always focused mainly around Siegfried and his struggle with the Soul Edge so I imagine he would still take priority over Kilik and Sophita, then again I'm not too familiar with the Soul Calibur series so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

Somewhere out there on this big blue marble
I mean, there's already a whole thread for that for people that are actually interested.
Fair but a lot of Smash fans need to be introduced to an idea instead of them going out of their way to look up a thread for someone they may not now. This was especially evident with bandwagons like Geno, Dante, etc getting more traction when they were brought up in leaks, we saw it last week with Sakura Wars too. Feel free to shill more

I'm not going to lie. I'm sure some of us have thought about making fake leak material to get people to bandwagon our most wanted characters.

On a completely unrelated note:
