I believe that we're overdue for an older character. The last three characters all debuted in the 2010s decade, with Byleth in 2019, Min Min in 2017, and Steve in 2011. Jonesy would be the fourth 2010s character in a row.

How much work has Epic done with Nintendo in the past? And I don't mean Tencent, who owns Epic and Nintendo is working with directly, how are the direct relations between Epic and Nintendo? Because, unless I'm remembering correctly, Fortnite being on Switch would be their first major collaboration.

Epic did not have much to do with Nintendo outside of Fortnite: Jazz Jackrabbit was on the computer mostly, and so was the Unreal Tournament games (where Epic first made their name, it's where the Unreal Engine comes from) with console ports being PS / Xbox-centric. Gears of War's been Xbox-centric. Their other games have mostly been computer-centric as well IIRC.

I will say that even though I vastly prefer Lloyd, Yuri is pretty cool too.

No no. Yuri doesn't have any true Axe-only moves. Yuri uses a sword mainly, but in his game, he can also equip axes and his moveset mainly remains the same. Like all of his moves can be used with both a sword and an axe. Whether or not he gets a costume where he uses an axe is another story.

Ahem

Gimmick time where he switches weapons between swords, axe, and punching. Each attack determines by weight, attack power, and speed. Since he's very combo type of fighter, it would make sense in a way to do this type of thing.

I've yet to play Byleth due to school, so I don't know much. Was it used in just the specials?
