Huh, new Partner Showcase. I'm glad we've come to see these as a fun thing to watch rather than a letdown that it started out as.

Also that NMH section was a glorious, intentional mess. I take it the whole game is like this?

The roadmap for the rest of Nintendo's 2020 seems pretty clear. Online push for Pikmin 3 this week, heavy advertising for Age of Calamity in the first half of November, and then a holiday marketing blitz for everything after.

I do think January's going to be pretty packed with news especially given that so many titles will be coming out in March and we'll be seeing a big shift towards them at that point.

Anyone want to place any bets as to whether we get anymore announcements this year? My optimistic side thinks we'll get SOMETHING but given Nintendo's PR performance this year, I could see us going totally dry into January.
I mean, Nintendo marketing sleeping through the Holidays wouldn't exactly be a 2020 only thing.
They have done for a while since normally they've already announced everything they got for the rest of the year at this point and so they can let their big holiday title carry them until they wake up again in January.

I wouldn't expect anything else for the rest of the year, at most we'll get some smaller announcements at the Game Awards and that's it.

As for 2021, maybe we'll return to a "normal" flux of news. At this point, they had months to adapt to WFH, and 2021 has the potential to be more packed with new releases... but Nintendo always finds new ways to disappoint so as always let's hope for the best by expecting the worst.

Somewhere out there on this big blue marble
This is a nitpick if I ever saw one

“Why dose the fighting game dosn't have dialogue, compare to the story driven RPG (that is DLC)“

This isn’t really a high bar ya know
Idk literally every other big name fighting game in the past 20 years outside of Smash manages to have character interactions, even those without story modes.

Anyway I am SO happy Travis got Mii'd earlier so that this wouldn't have gotten my hopes up for him, saw the trailers and it's good to see NMH finally get a chance to thrive

call it tin-hat, but I think when Covid hit, Nintendo made the plan to split their normal directs into all those minis. there was enough content there to be one solid direct, they just spread it out to fill in gaps due to the world at large.

Honestly doubt we get anything substantial from Nintendo for the rest of the year. They'll push Mario, Zelda, and the SwSh expansion pass bundle heavily, with Pikmin taking a backseat. I could see a Smash reveal at TGA, but nothing else seems like it'd be relevant to Nintendo's holiday plans. I do expect a stacked January-March though, with 1-2 Smash reveals/releases and lots of news on their 2021 slate (Pokemon, Kirby, Mario, & Zelda in particular, but there could be a few more surprises).

Edit: Forgot to mention the Switch Pro. That's almost certainly coming early next year.

I’ve been thinking

last TGA saw the reveal of the Xbox Series X officially, I believe. What if they reveal the Switch Pro/Ultra there?
Actually, when did those Switch Pro rumors start up? I've started to hear about them but I don't know when or why.

Iirc they started around the same time as the Switch Lite (temporarily called Switch “Mini”) rumors

I thought most people already believed this considering the gap between byleth and min min
I was legitimately thinking Min Min needed more time due to the ways she can use her ARMS, thus she could've been started in September 2019 and not ready for March, and that Steve had needed eleven months for tagging every stage surface as wood, iron etc. Guess we're still looking at six-seven month long development cycles even with these more unique characters.

If there is a Switch Pro (not necessarily saying that there will be), given the various games being released in March/Spring it would be potentially advantageous to put it out then.

(Or right when BOTW 2 comes out.)

Say anything you want but I bet you will literally tear you clothes up if he ended up as a Mii Costume. Also saying that there is no argument against Hayabusa is a literal definition of you worshipping the series. Well, I guess I'll be dying with Dynasty Warriors by my side View attachment 290533 but at least I make a pretty truthful and factual argument that Dynasty Warriors has done more good deed to Koei-Tecmo than Ninja Gaiden and you still don't listen.

Several but he only appear as just a cameo (not including DoA and Warriors Orochi 4), and the other one is an all star game that comprised of Koei Tecmo other game and not just Ninja Gaiden, also the title uses the Dynasty Warriors style of logo and even has the word 'Warriors' in it which is the series that hosted the crossover. So yeah that title of "Mr. Koei Tecmo" goes to Zhao Yun/Dynasty Warriors not the impostor that is Hayabusa/Ninja Gaiden.
but really if you think about it, it's kinda weird that Hayabusa so far only appear in DoA and DW, Koei-Tecmo's game that is relevant in modern time, is this a sign of Hayabusa is desperate for relevancy?
Nothing personal, but no one knows who the hell Zhao Yun is.

I mean... it's based on the North American version...
From what I heard from people, that there was a censored version. Like people thought it was going to be like the EU version or people from EU were mostly scared that their version was going to be censored. I just thought Nintendo but pull the kid friendly angle and get rid of the charging animation

I mean, to be fair, if it wasn't for all of Travis' grunting and the floppy "charging gauge", it wouldn't be that bad. It's only as raunchy as people's imaginations.

I'm sure Zhao Yun being the face of Warriors All-Stars is definitely because Koei Tecmo likes him best and definitely not because Warriors is the engine for the base game.

If that's your 'Tin Hat' theory, then we'd better head to Walmart for some Tin Foil because just about everyone who keeps track of Smash speculated the same thing and is in desperate need of hats.

Any prospects of a real direct come December? I really need something to help me get through November. It is going to be a rough month.

If you need something to distract you during November, buy Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, releasing for the US on the 10th, Japan on the 12th, and in Europe for the 20th.
This game will be releasing for the PC, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Please buy this game, or there will be consequences.

On a happy note, I preordered the special addtion. It reminded me so much of Okami, I had to give it a chance. Thanks for reminding me. This game looks so good. I really hope we get smash spirits for it. I want people to give it a shot.

Honestly the problem with Star Fox isn't stagnation exactly.

Its overcorrection.

Nintendo proved that they were willing to experiment with the franchise with Adventures, Assault and Command. But even when they made something truly special (Assault), fans wouldn't shut up about wanting a new game like 64. It was very loud, very constant and very common (and very obnoxious).

It was so venomous that now Nintendo is too scared to try anything that isn't a new take on 64's formula. Star Fox Guard is the only recent entry that isn't and that blatantly started as something else.

I partially blame the fans for Star Fox's state. When we had gold, they refused to see it cause it wasn't like what they had before.

Not to go to deep into politics. Nov 4th will have 1 winner and 1 loser. And no matter who wins, half the country is going to go civil war. I need a distraction.

On topic, a Direct would a nice distraction.
A distraction? Um... do you like rhythm games? There's a game coming up called Mad Rat Dead, made by Nippon Ichi (the company behind Disgaea). There's a demo on the eShop, and let me tell you, the soundtrack SLAPS.

Might get it myself once it comes out. Still waiting on reviews, but I did enjoy the demo.

I mean it wasn't just angry fans or whatever, critics ravaged most of the mid 2000s Star Fox games, especially Assault.

It's pretty funny that you used Casablanca as your example but ignore that its a film that sold incredibly well over a long period of time and had many, many awards and acclaim given to it. Which poor NG isn't.
Factually incorrect but whatever.
i was also thinking of pointing out that if said franchise truly was popular they would have had many more games or a huge trilogy but that's just mean at this point
If you're actually conflating sequels with legacy, then man oh man could you be more mistaken. Sequels are one way to ensure that you're still remembered, but they are far from the only measure. Does Chrono Trigger not have a legacy unless Chrono Cross is made?

Also, it's an incredibly arbitrary method of determining legacy. Ninja Gaiden had six games, two trilogies. That's more games than, say, Doom. Does Doom not have a legacy then?

Depends on who you ask for Doom. Hexen is the best doom engine game. I would IDDQD my way though all those levels. :-)
