It can be a random video drop on twitter announcing 1 or 2 new games like the rumored Mario 3D Collection or something else.

It happens but the half that gets removed aren't the characters people generally say are on the chopping block.Hes Thanos in disguise and half of the smash roster is getting removed for FP3
Finally, Yoshi, Sonic and Pikachu get deleted, I can no longer be tilted at SmashIt happens but the half that gets removed aren't the characters people generally say are on the chopping block.
With a possible deadline of December 2021, I don't.Well if it does end up being a direct than i think were guaranteed to see fp7
I am in this camp as well, if are direct is happening in July, then I do believe its entirely possible we don't get a Smash reveal since the rumored date (the 20th) is only 1 month after Min Min and you would think if Challenger Pack 7 would have been revealed, sure a lot can change in a month. But you would think they would maybe at least have a teaser ready.Main reason why I'm not saying a Smash reveal is a lock is because we still have a year and half for the five remaining characters before the December 2021 deadline. The February 2020 deadline they set back in 2018 was pretty close to when we got Byleth, so I think there's a good chance that'll be the case with the second pass as well, especially since the Coronavirus may have caused development to be set back a few weeks.
I'm only expecting one more character this year (or at least only one more to be released), because I definitely can't see them taking all of 2021 to reveal and release three measly characters from the same pass.
it's finally time"Fighter 7 will be... a character who has appeared in a Marvel vs Capcom game! It could be anyone, from Dante to Thanos to even Ryu!"
Min Min is part of the reason why I'm not entirely sure if we were ever getting a second reveal at E3.If we really get a Direct around the 20th, I better dig up some reaction memes for that announcement. Anyone know any besides the "It has been 3000 years" one from Pokémon X and Y and the "It has been 80-something years" from Titanic?
Anyway, I frankly can't see them not having at least something relating to Smash in whatever thing they're gonna have next. Keep in mind that these announcements were originally meant for E3, which Smash has pretty much never missed out on while it was still being supported with new content.
You do realize that Sakurai and his team don't just work on one character at a time? Piranha Plant and Banjo & Kazooie had reveal trailers with gameplay literally three months before they actually came out. Even if they show someone off now, doesn't mean they have to be released right away. FP7 (and maybe even FP8) could easily be shown off now(-ish) and then be released over the next couple of months.Min Min is part of the reason why I'm not entirely sure if we were ever getting a second reveal at E3.
I'm assuming they had always planned on her being revealed and released around the time of E3. They must have if the March Direct was prepared a while in advance before Corona. No matter what, I'm sure Sakurai and Min Min's presentation trailer would've been separate from the main Direct, so unless Sakurai was presenting Min Min in early June before Nintendo did their own thing at E3, it would've been a little weird to reveal F7 when we still didn't know who the ARMS character was.
Personally, I think the most likely scenario was Nintendo announcing the date of the Min Min presentation in their main Direct and not having any reveals.
Hell its entirely possible the initial plan was for Sakurai to give his presentation as part of Tree house live had E3 happened or hell Min Min maybe would have been revealed to be the ARMS rep at E3 and there is a chance that might have been our only Smash reveal had E3 happened.Min Min is part of the reason why I'm not entirely sure if we were ever getting a second reveal at E3.

Yes, but I'm also being cautious because we have so much time left before the deadline (a year and a half). You do realize that Sakurai and his team don't just work on one character at a time? If Microsoft acquires WB Games, then Maxwell (Scribblenauts), Mortal Kombat, and other WB IP character(s) would be a Microsoft IP character(s). Even more possible Microsoft contenders for Smash.
I am looking forward to Mortal Kombat vs. Killer Instinct.
Put together a quick thread (bit messy) on the news that AT&T is looking to sell the games division of Warner Bros

Key thing here is that the buyer would be acquiring talent, not so much the IP. There may be licensing deals for those IP, but that's not guaranteed at all - https://t.co/7sVl9DTtkN
Just because they have a deadline doesn't mean that they're really gonna need all that time. The first pass also finished a month earlier than what was mentioned.Yes, but I'm also being cautious because we have so much time left before the deadline (a year and a half).
Either Nintendo gave Sakurai several more months than he needed (which isn't at all what they did with the first pass) even before the Coronavirus became an issue, or there's something that would cause Sakurai to need almost twice as much time as the first pass, be that a smaller team or complicated characters.
If we continue the pattern the first pass set of releasing a new character every 2-3 months, we'd probably have F11 by the end of next summer at the latest. They gave Sakurai about a year and three months to make five characters. Not sure why adding one more would require nine more months unless they know there's something that'll make them require more time.
you may be on to Something hereYes! And all of the Spirits are different Vault Boy bobble heads
You’re right. It’s been about two and a halfso uh, what new spirit event are we going to get today.
The sheer amount of leftover time is why I'm not joining the, "Yes, F7 is absolutely getting revealed in this month's potential Direct" crew.Just because they have a deadline doesn't mean that they're really gonna need all that time. The first pass also finished a month earlier than what was mentioned.
Despite everything, it's still no Undertale Spirit event.please... Undertale Spirit Event... im BEGGING you spirit team
Didn’t we JUST get a newcomer tourney tho?I'm going to predict this week's event to be the Smash 4 newcomer tourney with the Paper Mario: Origami King event being next week.
No, WB Games is AFAIK doing pretty well. Instead, it appears as though AT&T has some nasty debt on its hands (around $160 Billion in debt after acquiring Time Warner for ca $100 Billion). And the WB Games division is apparently considered "non-core" to AT&T's investors. Part of the $4 Billion price might be the distribution network (WB distributes CDPR's games in North America - including Cyberpunk 2077). No deal is assured or imminent: the division could still wind up remaining at its old post. Still, the fact that AT&T is shopping around is telling that they're trying to find a buyer.Wait, is WB Games going bankrupt or something?
So basically... on one hand, this could mean MK and DC crossovers could still happen, while also making it easier for other negotiations to occur with WB Games depending on who the buyer is? As Zhuge pointed out, several IPs (rights to Batman / LEGO games etc.) would probably stay with AT&T / Time Warner, and in a post-deal scenario they could (depending on how any deal pans out) be "licensed out" to the buyer a la how EA gets its sport licenses. Mortal Kombat would probably go to the buyer along with Netherrealm, and Scribblenauts would likewise follow WB Games to the buyer.
Well, I am not really opposed this, but what will happen to the Injustice games if Warner Brothers Games gets sold?UPDATE/CORRECTION:

Basically, whoever acquires WB Games may not get any IP at all. Just their workforce and the right to develop some of their games.
Unfortunately, in terms of Smash, the WB character could be in their own category instead of being associated with whoever brought them (if AT&T is actually selling WB Games). The good or bad news is that someone could makes a better negotiation or offer for the WB IP(s) within the WB Games purchase, and in a way, some IP could be transferred to the buyer while the other IP remains with AT&T.
