IMO, manga hasn't been that good since Punished Isabelle arc. Seeing her pocket Scoot's 100% Ultra+ Jabroni Blast and throw it back with no effort just because she trained under Doom Marine for a week was so stupid. So glad the anime just skipped that fight.

Scoot was a throwaway character anyways. I'm shocked the author even bothered.

Terra
Kat (Gravity Rush)
Madeleine (Celeste) - perfectly fine if she also gets a Deluxe Costume.
KOS-MOS (almost forgot).
Lina (Dota 2): Curveball to end all curveballs and I'm standing by that.

As far as Nintendo's own roster goes, I'm partial to Krystal, Style Savvy and Jody Summers actually.

I checked all the other DLC characters, and none of them had a link to their game's website like this. Not even Byleth had one for Three Houses. Has Hero always had this link?

Blue/Pokemon Rival (as an echo/semi-clone of PT, where the attributes like weight, speed, and power of Squirtle and Ivysaur are switched to make them into Bulbasaur and Wartortle, and Charizard becomes Mega Charizard Y, changing his attributes as well)

I was also rooting for Nakoruru as the SNK rep over Terry (but only because I'd actually heard of her).

As far as female characters, she'd be a complete dark horse choice, but I'd love to see Dorothy from Steamworld Dig 2 show up as an indy rep. Cute design, lots of abilities to make for a fun moveset, and the game has enough dynamic settings to make a fun stage for her. Her only real downside would be that the Steamworld games don't have the most memorable soundtracks, but there's enough to work with.

Aside from the obvious, I think Dragapult would be an interesting fighter. I can picture a lot of interesting mechanics with the Dreepy. Plus, we really need more projectile-heavy characters.

Zoroark and Lycanroc are two more I would've liked, but I think the time has passed for them.

Hero was even more of a promotional pick than Byleth, so it doesn't surprise me that much. SE really went out of their way to make sure Nintendo properly promoted DQXI. There was the special Spirit given away to people who played the demo and Sakurai himself attending that event that promoted DQXI. They even label Hero specifically as a DQXI character rather than give him an umbrella label that would apply to all four Heroes.

Same as always from me, Chun-Li, Dixie, Lara, Jill or Elma would be pretty neat. I'm sure there's others I may like, but those are the main ones(Shanoa would be an example, but I'd probably pick Alucard first). Same with dudes, I could name a ton, but there's a certain few I like more than others.

Ammy would be really unique, both aesthetically(assuming she's still cel-shaded) and gameplay-wise with her weapons and elements.

EDIT: Oh, and Shantae too, I don't think she's happening, but I liked her first two games I finished.

A toss-up between Captain Syrup (for some much needed Wario Land acknowledgement) and Morrigan (much needed Darkstalkers acknowledgement).

Also, if one of my most wanted (who is male) gets in, there's a female character that I think would work great as an Echo Fighter, and considering her canonical status as well as her home series' use of supernatural elements, she'd fit right in with Ultimate's Spirit theme...

It may be weighed down by the mostly negative reception I have with Spirits, but seeing Vivian get referenced despite everything that happened to that character's home franchise was a nice detail. Too bad Vivian's the only original TTYD spirit. The only other spirit present from that game is technically an adaptation of another character.
