Ok, question. Are there any characters that - regardless if you would want them or not - are perfectly viable DLC candidates, yet you have never seen being mentioned ever, here or anywhere else in the speculation scene?
I can think of a few:

-Laharl from Disgaea: main character of the first title in a long-running and relatively popular (mostly in Japan) series of SRPGS deeply in love with gigantic numbers. He's a demon prince with Bowser's ego and strength, and Jr.'s general ineffectiveness without the help of his minions, who alongside his powers and possible weapons, could add to his moveset potential.
Disgaea has a deceptively big presence on Nintendo consoles despite originating on the PS2 (the DS had a port of the first game, and 3 out of the 5 main titles have been ported to the Switch - specifically 1, 4 and 5 - plus a spinoff duology is getting released soon). One of Nippon Ichi's flagship series. I can't say anything about the other games, but the first one has really good music.

-Lemeza Kosugi + Lumisa Kosugi (as an alternate skin like femByleth) from La-Mulana: the protagonists of two metroidvania games/MSX love letters known for their difficulty and exploration-based puzzles. They're a father-daughter not-team of Indiana Jones styled archeologists with a variety of weapons and equipment (particularly whips) found while exploring a great ancient ruin and fighting mythological beasts. Both love curry.
The first game's remake debuted as a Wiiware title, and the duology is getting released on the Switch (and everywhere else) soon. One of the biggest Japanese indies with international notoriety. Both games also have excellent music.

-Pitfall Harry from Pitfall: protagonist of one of the most well-known platform games from the Atari era, with a few games in Nintendo consoles. Don't really know much about him besides that. Out of the three, is the only one that already has a support thread somewhere.

(My descriptions of the first two kind of sound like protoypes for new support threads, but considering I have at least six other characters I would want to see included instead of them, it would be a bit disingenuous of me to do it.)

Its been a long dead series, but many of the characters from Clay Fighters (particularly Bad Mr Frosty) could fit into Smash. Its a fighting game series with three releases (arguably four if you count the rental exclusive Sculptor's Cur), all on Nintendo consoles, with a distinct look, and with loads of music and levels to work from.

It will never show up in Smash because its not exactly a series that's aged well and there's also the fact that no one has thought about Clay Fighters in 20 years, but still.

Well, Akira Toriyama was the character designer, so I can see getting it, Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest confused. I've literally never heard anyone call it a Square property though.
Well, confusing it for a Square property was literally Microsoft's goal there. Part of their attempt to make the XBox sell better in Japan was "We'll make a Dragon Quest-style game, Blue Dragon. And a Final Fantasy-style game, Lost Odyssey. And we'll get the same people to do it."

After they released Kino-kun spirits I'm not feeling confident on their chances but I'd really love Billy and Jimmy Lee from Double Dragon to both represent the side-scrolling beat-em-up and because their theme is jammin'
I honestly don't want them playable, because that will probably kill any chances Kunio has of becoming playable in the future. And I think he's the far better choice.

I'll take a couple Mii Brawler costumes with the Double Dragon theme though!

Ive seen a lot of talk recently about spirit upgrades, mostly surrounding the usual Geno, Waluigi, Shantae, Rayman etc. But one character I think would be really cool is Raiden from MGS. Even better if he brings the Metal Gear Rising soundtrack with him. Not very likely unless by an act of divine intervention Konami, Platinum, Nintendo and Sakurai are all in some kahoots to put him in to advertise a switch exclusive MGR2, but we cant have nice things like that can we?:4dk:
Just play PSASBR. ;P

Time for a new 'you get to create a fighter pass but...' post.

You get to create a Fighter Pass but only out of characters that have fought current smash characters on Death Battle. (you can choose if non video game characters are aloud).

Here's my go:

1) Dante (Fought Bayonetta)
2) Knuckles (Fought Donkey Kong)
3) Scorpion (Fought Ryu)
4) Greymon (Fought Charizard)
5) Dracula (Fought Ganon)
6) Sora (Fought Pit)
1. Dante (fought Bayonetta)
2. Knuckles (fought Donkey Kong)
3. Astro Boy (fought Megaman)
4. Shadow (fought Mewtwo)
5. Renamon (fought Lucario)
6. Tails (fought Luigi)

Since It’s international Women’s day, who is your most wanted female character for Smash?
As of now, it's Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X, though that could change.

I feel like, if I sat down and focused on Nier Automata, 2B would quickly jump up my most wanted list; I generally enjoy the games by Platinum (though I haven't really been able to get into the Wonderful 101), and even if she wouldn't be my most-wanted Square-Enix character, I could see 2B being a character that would easily give me a lot of inspiration for moveset ideas once I play her game, much like Dante was.

For me it is a tie between Lucid and Angelic Buster from MapleStory for my most wanted female character.
Bro, I haaaaate Angelic Buster so much. I played the character a bit and deleted her pretty fast
Ahhhhh **** i forgot Ammy was a thing. I change my answer to Ammy.

2B is my most wanted female character, with Arle and Ahri as second and third. Dixie Kong is an honorable mention, even if she was Spirited.

After that... no one really stands out to me. I'd be okay with most names thrown around, but I don't actively want any of them, so...

Honestly I’d love a reboot of this series, I’ve always thought it was interesting, I’ve literally thought out how it would play in everything a couple years back lol

Probably a tie between Dixie Kong, Impa, and Captain Syrup. Perhaps leaning towards Dixie Kong.

Would love to see many others though, like Amaterasu, Jill Valentine, Elma, Ashley, and Rhythm Girl.

At the moment, it's 2B. Arle might be a second, if only because puzzle games need more representation.

I feel like Double Dragon is a series that is being slept on in speculation and not talked about a whole lot.

DOOM has a good presence on Nintendo consoles (the Switch essentially has or is going to have every mainline DOOM game) and is one of the most important franchises in gaming due to essentially pioneering and laying the groundwork or bedrock for the first-person shooter genre. You have a favorite FPS genre? It likely wouldn't exist without DOOM. That includes games like GoldenEye 007 or massive franchises like Halo. There is a reason why it's looked upon favorably as a request. That and Doomguy is a badass character that would be awesome to see in a game like Smash alongside people like Mario, Samus and Snake.

And....why is having nothing in common with Smash a problem? 95% of the franchises represented in Smash have very little in common with Smash's style with only Mario and Kirby being exceptions and Fatal Fury being a big inspiration for Sakurai.
But here's the thing, Nintendo has never been big on FPG games. On the contrary even. It's mainly the favourite genre of Nintendo's main competitors. So I still don't see it.

1st party rep. Isabelle's moveset is entirely based around New Leaf, right? So...why not we just complete the trio and add Tom Nook for Smash, and have his moveset based entirely around the upcoming game, New Horizons. Seems pretty possible thanks to Byleth and (unfortunately) a Sword & Shield Pokemon isn't far off, either. Since Sceptile is out of the question, since Hoenn & Unova are COMPLETELY out of the question, give us Rillaboom.

Also the addition of reps just for completion. (of course...there's) Dixie Kong to complete the DK band, and in MY opinion, Ninten to complete the representation of Earthbound. It makes sense, really. Odd to consider Ninten an echo fighter of Ness, I mean...at that point shouldn't Lucas be an echo fighter to Ness, too?

Except Isabelle was already promoting New Horizons (she was announced for smash at the same time as the new AC). It worked, too -- it's specifically Isabelle that is now the Doom Slayer's official canonical bestest friend.

She doesn't really have anything in particular from New Horizons as is. It's just a general AC moveset as is with only Amiibo Festival specifically have assets used. She branched off of Villager directly. Otherwise, just New Leaf stuff. She really has no basis from NH beyond being announced at the same time.

Albeit, yeah, she's promoting NH too, but not through the "moveset", just her existence only. And that was more good timing to announce her than anything else.

Tom Nook being used directly to represent NH would be entirely different from promoting alone. Different situations, really. Being he's huge in the game, while Isabelle is barely there, he wouldn't be a bad announcement either. He retook the spotlight, after all.
