Same thing I'm going to do if and when they end up being true. Nothing.

If anything, a Gen 8 rep would actually confirm fan theories in the form of Spirit Promotions and how Spirits no longer deconfirm.

Unless it's, ya know, not one of the 7 Pokemon that got Spirits.

Three Houses is a good game people liked. Byleth was picked to be a new Switch-era character. Plenty of people are happy with Byleth both as a character and being in the game. TH Twitter exploded with new art as a result, especially thanks to the alts. Just because a character doesn't specifically please you doesn't mean it displeased everyone.

No, but that doesn't make the opposite true either.

Byleth may not have displeased everyone, but it displeased a hell of a lot more people than anyone else in the Pass, by a large margin.

However, the pass isn’t just for the majority. It’s for everyone. I mean, fighter pass 1 had like several huge bangers yet, everyone got focused on one because “wuzznt mah karacter”

Not gonna lie, after the Cuphead spirits became a thing, I really hope that Undertale gets the same treatment.

I know that Sans and Megalovania are popular, but there’s so much more to the game then just those two things.

Imo Byleth being recent has nothing to do with their getting in. It was cause they were a FE character, so easy to make, plus their game was a smash hit and it’s still getting content updates. And most importantly, Nintendo proposed they be added. Spring Man, Rex, and Officer Howard couldn’t make it cause Nintendo didn’t propose they be playable, ARMS didn’t take off the way Splatoon did, Xenoblade 2 wouldn’t have profited from a promotional character that late, and Howard’s mechanics... hooo BOY

As someone who considers Earthbound the easiest fanbase to poke fun at, wanting Ninten is ACTUALLY dumb, people complain about characters being redundant because they both wield the same weapon despite using it differently and then here's Ninten who looks the EXACT ****ing same as Ness who'd most likely have the exact same moveset

Yeah this is why I don't really want Ninten. I think at best he could be an echo, but even as an echo he would be kind of boring because his design his so similar to Ness that there wouldn't be much point to chose him over Ness.

Yeah that's true, but he got a pretty big boost of popularity between November 2018 and December 2018 because of his lack of spirit, but then when Joker got announced just like almost every first party he got forgot a bit. Also despite that he's clearly not on the same level of Geno and Waluigi.

At any rate, the “theme” for this character was the how much freshness they brought to the game. The fighters that we include in Smash Bros. tend to come from series that have histories. For instance, Dragon Quest’s “Hero,” “Banjo & Kazooie,” and Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard all first appeared around 20 to 30 years ago – I want to include quite a wide breadth of characters.

For this fighter, an important factor was being able to turn the protagonist of a game that people are playing right now into a fighter that players could experience immediately in Smash Bros. As such, I tried my hand at working on the character while the source game was still in development.

I’m not exactly aware of what Nintendo’s future release plans are, so I go along with what they decide. It just so happens that the timing was right with Three Houses’ completion.


Straight from the man himself, literally the only reason Byleth is here is because Nintendo wanted a character from a 2019 game. That's it. The game being a hit doesn't matter when the character was decided on months before their game was even out.

The Mother 30th anniversary spirit event came and went without any new spirits. I'm starting to think the Absolutely Safe Capsule was indeed poking fun at Porky and is all the Porky content we're getting.

I mean, they literally took a fanart for Masked man spirit, so it's not crazy to think that they took the wrong absolute safe capsule without thinking that there is 2 different sprites for Porky in it and outside of it.

The ASC spirit being the Porky spirit would fit how Mother spirits are focused on jokes, like how Ness' dad can never be seen so his puppet is invisible.

Still, doesn’t change that Byleth was easier to make than the other three I named, and that Nintendo proposed Byleth over the others. Spring Man’s an AT, Rex is a Mii and Howard is a Spirit cause Nintendo just didn’t want them to be playable

At least it's not a baseless claim. Being suspiciously absent has made echoes, Isabelle, and Byleth somewhat safe guesses, but for every one of those characters there's like 20 others that didn't/won't make it in or were just not shown off yet.
