Byleth is a good choice, but i think that captain falcon or link could be also interesting templates.

Also i really would love to see three houses mods, there are tons of characters that could be interesting being swapped from other characters :o

Bernadetta as pit, Leonic as Link, Lysithea as Zelda, Lorenz as marth or hero, Dorothea as Robin, Linhardt as palutena :3, Hilda as Chrom or Ike (?), Caspar as little mac, Ashe as Link, Rhea as Palutena (or terry :0), Dedue as ganondorf, Sylvain as Hero or Byleth, Petra as Shiek, Mercedes as Palutena, Hubert as joker, etc etc etc...

Sakurai got the rights to a Mii Costume and Spirit, so I don't think they'd care if Nintendo wanted Geno.

I just don't think Nintendo themselves care enough to ask for him, and I get the feeling Sakurai isn't as on board with Geno as he was before.

He may be; he at least definitely likes Geno. He liked a post on Instagram about a custom Geno doll during the Smash 4 days, too.

Yeah, but seeing two SE characters get in before Geno on top of him missing out on both the base roster AND the first DLC pack isn't very encouraging. After the costume in Smash 4, I don't doubt for a second that Sakurai could make it happen if he really wanted to. But that's the thing. Does he still want it?

I don't know. Just feels like we're heading toward a scenario where people spent four years saying Geno is almost guaranteed only to look back in confusion when he doesn't get added.

I don't see how anyone can say this with a straight face. Are you seriously so confident that characters deemed not worthy of being one of the final five characters added to Ultimate, are suddenly hard locks for the additional six characters they are adding? The odds are that Sakurai/Nintendo never choose to put those characters in Smash.

Hey, if people can be confident right now that Spirits are a hard deconfirmation with no ifs, ands, or buts about it...

Neither Geno or Crash were a part of the first Fighters Pass likely because both the base game roster and pass were planned at the same time. Base game promotions of Spirits and such weren't happening because of that, and Sakurai and Nintendo likely considered a ton of characters like Crash for the pass before narrowing it down to what would initially be the final five... keyword being "initially". Fighters Pass 2? That's an opportunity to go back and possibly include characters that missed the first time around, and it certainly helps that Fighters Pass 2 will come with six characters now instead of five.

In the case of Geno specifically, if he isn't getting into Smash Ultimate as a playable character, then his Mii Fighter costume likely still would've returned at some point during the Fighters Pass, likely as a part of Hero's costume wave, or as part of the "grab bag" costume waves that Banjo and Byleth came with... and yet it hasn't. Three opportunities for Geno to come back as a Mii Fighter costume so far, and all three times he was absent. Why hold the character back this long when they're just gonna be a costume anyway? It's not like there wasn't enough room in Hero, Banjo, and Byleth's costume waves (four, five, and five costumes for each wave respectively, with Joker's wave showing that characters can come with six costumes), and I doubt Square Enix would veto even the costume since Geno's already in the game as a Spirit...

I wouldn't be surprised if the Geno costume is missing since Sakurai didn't know what to do with him. If he could try to negotiate Geno as a playable character or bring him back as a spirit if there's others he want in first. Probably why the costume has been missing for this long.

There is also the fact that if Square wants another rep into Smash, they probably have the final say on who it is. Even if another Final Fantasy rep is unlikely, I imagine Square would rather go that route than a character that hasn't had any relevancy for decades. And let's not forget other characters like Crono, Neku, 2B, etc etc that Square may wanna pick with over Geno. SE has a lot of memorable characters that they probably wanna prioritize, as stingy as they are if Sakurai does convince them to give them another character after Hero.

Yeah Square is stingy but I imagine they know what Smash does for characters getting in, especially since Hero being DLC helped Dragon Quest in the West.

You don't need to have far-fetched idea to expect this outcome. I see two possibilities.
- To have some gas left in the tanks: they will run out of interesting Mii costumes if they are using all the better one at the start. They perfectly can keep it for later just... to keep something for later.
- He was part of a deal with Square-Enix: maybe SE was fine to give Geno as a full character only if they were getting Hero spot first. And to not have two SE characters in the same Pass, Geno is pushed in the second one.
Moreover, it keeps the speculation open (I don't specifically think that's intended, but maybe?).

I'd love to see Cecil or Terra into Smash given I like 4 and 6 a lot as well as the fact we can have some 2D Final Fantasy representation. Cloud represents when the games went to 3D while one of those two would represent the old 2D days. It'd be fun that way.

Though my Non-Final fantasy characters I'd love to see would either be Crono or 2B, which I imagine would both be far easier to not go through all those complicated negotiation mess unlike a FF rep.

I still keep it as a small possibility given how Sakurai is and how Fighters Pass 1 surprised me in many ways.

I think it mostly just depends on what Square wants. Chances are they only wanted one Final Fantasy character in smash, which is why they went with Cloud. (The most well known and wanted one, which surprised them because they thought people would want a more relevant one). I think like our only possible option left from FF at least is Sephiroth Noctis or maybe a Moogle or Black Mage lol. Personal pick from Square would be Crono, sadly that series is dead in the ground T-T

I wouldn't mind a monster hunter as long as it was fresh and fun. I mean, I could see it being really unique! Like your down b or taunt cooking up a roast, and having to dodge away if you can't finish it. it'll prolly be guaranteed they're wearing rathalos armor. Admitedly out of the create your own characters in smash they'd be the most boring because they literally have no character

so far all the premium costumes with music tracks have been gunner only. I’d like to see Swordfighters with tracks (2B from NieR Automata and a Automata song is another option) and Brawlers with tracks (Ori with Light of Nibel, Monokuma with a Danganronpa Medley made for Smash)

A boss that doubles as an Assist Trophy is the only bit of significant content that Monster Hunter has in Smash right now, which easily leaves the door open for a playable character.

Zippo has nothing to do with Sabi, if anything it's the latter that has piggybacked off the former.
Like I said, Zippo doesn't really have a track record and often speculation just like a normal user.
So far, his only exclusive "leaks" are that a new Paper Mario will come out this year and I think he also said that Botw will probably be a 2021 release.

I should point out that he said that the 5th Pass character would be a "Character associated with Nintendo, but it's not first-party". Apparently he did ask directly if FE was owned by Nintendo or not but... yeah it's not the best first impression for this new player in the leak game.

As far as general character reveals, is it it out of the question to suggest to have one for each presentation? In terms of time it could be that given there's typically 3 general directs per year and 6 characters to be released by the end of 2021 they could hypothetically announce one for each major presentation:

Fighter 1: February/March Direct 2020
Fighter 2: E3 2020
Fighter 3: Fall Direct 2020
Fighter 4: February/March Direct 2021
Fighter 2: E3 2021
Fighter 3: Fall Direct 2021

No guarantee of this, but the math does check out.

Makes sense, though I also wouldn't be surprised if we get a double reveal during either of the E3 Directs.

We usually got at least two characters at E3 in every Smash cycle.

E3 2013: Villiger, Megaman, and Wii Fit Trainer
E3 2014: Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, Mii Gunner, Palutena, and Pac-man
E3 2015: Roy and Ryu
E3 2018: Daisy and Ridley
E3 2019: Hero and Banjo & Kazooie

There was no character reveals at E3 in 2016 and 2017 due to Smash 4's cycle ending in early 2016.
I excluded Melee and Brawl from this discussion due to the lack of character trailers with the exceptions and Snake and Sonic during Brawl's cycle.

Geno and the Namco boys missing their costumes means alot more than Rathalos on the sole basis of the other Capcom costumes already being back. They could really come back with anyone, I think its weird they weren't with Byleth instead of X and EXE because they fit better but they also fit pretty well with Dante.

I doubt any of those 3 will be promoted to playable via Ult DLC (especially Gil) but I do expect them to return with a totally new Namco rep. The Dragon quest composer is known to be very stingy with his work. For example, Dragon quest 8 japanese release only have the midi version of the music, and apparently SE have to pay the guy a lot ot money to have the orchestrated version for the western release.
