I think the difference is that Ridley, despite being very violent, have other characteristic traits that make him unique in Smash. He's a dragon, have wings, spit fire, have big claws and a big tail. Even with no violence, Ridley still feels like Ridley. If you take a character from a porn game and remove the porn… what else is left?

Maybe it's because I'm used to her and her games, but I have a hard time imaginining that someone considers Smash depiction of Bayonetta as uncomfortable.
idk, when I play with her or against her I don't see sexuality neither seduction in everything she does. When she taunts maybe yes, but if we speak about her proper moveset I don't feel or see nothing awkward. Of course she has the attitude and all that, but I don't feel that pushes anything.

I know it's your opinion, and maybe I'm the only one who doesn't feel anything super seductive on her Smash depiction. I'm just a bit curious, haha.

A lot of her poses just feel awkward to me, especially her victory poses and the ones involving the guns on her legs. Her voice alongside the quotes they chose for her also don't help much.

I think Sakurai did a decent job of toning her down, but it's hard to water down a character like Bayonetta and keep her true to her character without making it painfully obvious that she comes from a really raunchy game. She's not the kind of character I'd normally associate with Smash, and I kind of wish Sakurai, Nintendo, or whoever the heck suggested her would've opted for a different character. No offense to you or anyone else who likes her. She's just not my cup of tea.

I dunno much about the Fate series, but I feel like the NSFW stuff would be treated like the whole marriage thing in Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates.

From my understanding the actual porn was indeed completely optional. Hell, the writer was pissed they were added in and refused to write the sex scenes, they were merely added because corporate said "People want this", like how the people behind the Sonic and CATS movies only made it look like that because some big shot said "Trust me I'm well aware of what ACTUALLY sells"

Only if they're actually a character capable of proper fighting or has abilities from the game in quesiton.

I am a Fate fan as is, but I don't care about the porn.

So frankly I don't care about their origins either. Especially when Nintendo promoted Bayonetta in Playboy and literally had Love Hotels(which didn't allow sex, heh, which fits into what I said too). I'm a person who doesn't care about that kind of stuff because they being a fun character to play as is the most important.

Though to be fair, that's also a huge exaggeration of what Bayonetta and even Fate is, two series that are good with getting characters but aren't simply about porn despite having some moments related to it(moreso Fate, but they literally got rid of all the sex scenes from all remakes and rereleases of the first Fate game, the only one to even qualify as porn, so it's a moot point). My standards are low. I do like stuff like Quest 64, you know.

You could take a character that isn't involved in the pornographic/very sexual scenes of the porn/very sexual game. Take Vincent Brooks from Catherine. He is never seen naked, yet Catherine, Katherine, and Qatherine are all shown literally almost naked at some point in the game. Vincent is seen in his boxers, but that's about it.

Pretty much. The fact, as I noted above, they removed the scenes from later releases already shows they don't consider it important.

Besides, there's a lot of franchises that have their bad moments that can easily have a character for Smash while ignoring those moments. It's just a matter of how well you can make the character work as in within the settings. I'm not one who would be bothered by a Senran Kagura character, for example. As long as they are fun to play and done well, even if they would have some bounce(which may or may not be a problem for an e10 plus game). Though there's little reason to, since the animation changes hurtboxes. Unless that actually adds to the character's playstyle well, it's pointless. Taunts are about as much as you need to go, and both Bayo and Palutena bring enough on their own, really.

I would've added Master Chief but I just feel like he'd be perceived as Doomguy 2 or Samus 4. I know that isn't how I or the majority of people see him, but I feel like he'd get that sort of reaction.

People do the internet and the internet spreads the disease. There is no right or wrong to the almighty web. It was probably some dude on 4chan who noticed he was only interested in poorly written, mostly naked art with quotes about how embarrassed they are, but liked other manga as a child.
