Quick reminder that there is no Pokemon Mystery Dungeon content in Smash, which is an absolute tragedy and should be fixed.
Cries in the absolute lack of Xenoblade Chronicles X music... 2 got Music, Spirits and Mii costumes while X has literally only Spirits and not all the major characters either

It means nothing. Even if the Mii Costumes are real doesn't mean that Geno and Doomguy are playable. Good chance that both are Mii Costumes or one of them is Mii Costume while the other is a playable character.

Not making Pikachu's Final Smash call in the Ultimate Team was a missed opportunity for sure.
Nah, Pikachu's Final Smash should've clearly been Thunder Armor:

Now this is Supereffective insulation.

EarthBound also has some kind of weird music situation, right? There were issues with Onett on prerelease streams IIRC, and it's kind of odd that all of its songs are remixed. Also, only one song is an actual battle theme.

ON A SEA OF DARK MATTER EVERY MINUTE MATTERS LIVING WHILE OTHER LIVES SHATTER
SEEING GHOSTS SCATTER AS THEY POUR OUT WE CAN HANDLE THEM
IT'S THE TAR TAKING OVER THAT CAME UNEXPECTED HARD TO ACCEPT IT GETTING MARKED FOR DEATH
SEEING FRIENDS SNATCHED AND DARKLY POSSESSED
THE TAR INSIDE STEALING THE BODY AND BREATH TILL ONLY A SHELL IS LEFT WITNESS TO HELL IN THE FLESH
A FIGHT TO THE DEATH SCREAMING WHERE'S THE RELIEF? MAYBE NO MORE SLEEP
ALL SWALLOWED IN GRIEF IMAGES START TO STALK LIKE A BEAST I HEAR VOICES BUT NO ONE TALKING TO ME…

Black Tar is easily the song I'd want most from X, mostly because I love how corny it is.

I remember loving the Pokémon Rumble demo and wanting to play the full game. So when I got Pokémon Rumble World I was disappointed at how boring it was.
You should have gotten Pokemon Rumble.

No XD: Gale of Darkness or Colosseum? For shame... (God I'd love to see a sequel to those games on Switch...)
They're mainline, as far as I'm concerned.

To be honest I don't really see the appeal of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. I've only played Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon so that may be my issue, but there's little to no gameplay variety and a lot of the later dungeons tended to give you the middle finger when it came to type match-ups. Also the Belly mechanic is really annoying.
When most people talk about their love for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (including myself,) they are usually referring to Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky.
It is the story and music that get the most praise.
To me, it was one of the few games that made me cry.

OK, good. I was about to say, I couldn't imagine not including them! (They definitely are in a weird territory of pseudo-spinoff but also mainline mechanics I'll admit).

I could see lyrics like this stopping Black Tar from getting into Super Smash Bros. since it has the opposite theming of the friendly battles the series is supposed to portray. The other songs have no excuse though.

Too bad I was a kid with no money.

Yeah. It makes me wonder if they'll reuse the Orre region for another truly mainline title, if they'll make a new Australian region (thus banning the two games to non-cannon spin-off status), or if they'll just avoid doing either action.

I had to look up aBOreSSs because I had discovered infinite Overdrive in the previous fight and had to abuse it in order to be able to beat the boss, not lose the last few hours of gameplay, and not be in bed too long after bedtime. Pulling that infinite Overdrive spec out of my butt (after having previously not understood or used Overdrive at all) was one of my greatest gaming moments, but it did mean I never got to hear aBOreSSs and The Key We've Lost until later.

Nonsense.

That being said, what do you guys think about the CacoMallow leak now? I know this was brought up, like, only a day ago but I'm sure something has changed regarding it!
People keep saying it's been replicated, and I keep asking for links, but no one's provided any.

FACTS
- no one has been able to replicate it
- if Nintendo DID take it down, it'd be an obvious tell that its legit
- every leaker and their mother has been arguing with eachother about whos right and whos wrong.

SPECULATION
- While thumbs up Ken is memed to death nowadays, i think it added validity to the leak. I believe CacoMallow and the OG Ken leak are from the same source
- Bethesda has strongly hinted at discussions with Nintendo regarding Smash. DoomSlayer seems like a megaton bomb of a pick to end the Fighters Pass while Geno seems like a perfect bonus character (like the Plant).

Not much has changed. It has been proven that the costumes can be modded in (even with the jiggle physics) and even if it's real, it wouldn't necessarily mean Geno and/or Doomguy are in.
The most peculiar thing about the leak is that these would be some of the first Mii costume mods we have. You'd expect those first mods to be rough, but CacoMallow is on par with Nintendo's official Mii costumes. That's the only reason I keep an eye on it.
Given how the costumes can be made within a week timespan, the biggest thing going for it--the difficulty of mii modding--was eradicated.
Would you mind linking to those mods?

What is the cacomallow leak?
A while back, someone posted images and video of Mii hats for the Cacodemon from Doom and Mallow from Super Mario RPG.

At the time, modders swore up and down that, due to various limitations (the game crashed if a Mii hat file was bigger than the file it was replacing, making it apparently impossible to mod in new Mii hats and keep them at the quality of the rest of the game), there hadn't been any progress made with modding new Mii costumes.

Either it's a legitimate leak, or one person was able to do something that the entire modding community couldn't (at the time - I believe that modders have figured it out since then). It's hard to say for sure - on one hand, Ken was leaked under similar circumstances (a screenshot with the timer apparently frozen at two minutes and thirty seconds), but on the other hand, people have gone to EXTREME lengths to make fake Smash Bros. leaks, like ArtsyOmni with the Rayman leak in Smash 4, or whoever made the Grinch leak.

Hes my pipe dream pick. Hed be the biggest addition in Smash history, he'd rep the FPS genre and the birth of online gaming, his moveset would be killtacular, and the music he'd bring would be awe inspiring.

ALSO, imagine a Halo stage where every time you get a KO the announcer chimes in. Lol

Honestly, while I'm 90% sure that the Fighter's Pass #1 will end with someone who's a little more lowkey, I have no doubt that the first Fighter's Pass character will be someone big. Sakurai tends to always start things out on a bang:
Melee: :bowsermelee: and :peachmelee:, the two most requested characters on the Smash 2 poll, are confirmed with the game's announcement. :icsmelee: appeals to NES fans and :sheikmelee: serves to ride off the hype of the Gamecube Zelda tech demo that would become Wind Waker.
Brawl: Brawl leads off with :metaknight:, a popular choice among those who wanted another Kirby character, :pit:, a retro icon many wanted to see come back, and :wario:, the most requested character who didn't make the cut for Melee. Then there's the bombshell that :snake: is joining the battle as the first non-Nintendo character in Smash. :zerosuitsamus: has a more subdued response, but her primary goal is to show off Final Smashes as a mechanic
Smash for Wii U/3DS: The trailer starts off with :4villager:, the main character of one of Nintendo's largest series that many thought was impossible. Next it segways to :4megaman:, easily the most requested 3rd Party and arguably the most requested character period. Later that day, :4wiifit: lights the internet on fire by being one of the most strange yet creative additions Smash has ever seen. One year later, DLC is announced with :4mewtwo:, one of the most requested characters that many people wanted.
Ultimate: The game is announced through :ultinkling:, an extremely popular character from Nintendo's greatest success at creating a new IP in a decade and a half. The first trailer demonstrates :ultdaisy:, the echo fighter with the most international appeal that isn't 3rd party, and :ultridley:, an absolutely massive character that people once again thought was impossible. Likewise, :ultjoker: starts off the fighter pass by being a character from a popular game and a complete left hand turn that almost no one saw coming

I'll just post what I said a few days ago.

It could be real, but I do think it's suspiciously convenient that the costumes are shown off without the actual newcomers themselves, and it's all on a stage that's already in Smash. Mii Costumes usually come last, so the fighters and stages should be almost done as well.

While nothing is set in stone....

There has been ONE previous DLC season for Smash, and it ended with MOTHA****IN BAYONETTA.

There was originally going to be ONE fighters pass for Ult.

I think that involving base roster characters while speculating the "hype" of DLC is irrelevant.

Fighter 5 is going to hit us over the head with a cocaine brick.

Yeah it's called basic marketing. Show off the big guns first to make people buy the pass, the last one in the pass doesn't matter as anyone who would buy the full thing already did at that point. If postpass DLC has a second pass, then that'll happen again like idk, Master Chief to kick off the second pass and ending it with ****ing uhhhh Jersey Devil or some ****

I disagree with this. As someone who works in marketing, I don't see any benefit to ending a subscription service (the pass in this case) with underwhelming content. It'd only piss off your clientele and youd see diminshing returns

Who the hell would care at that point though? Everyone who was already buying the pass paid for it and they bought it early cause you showed off the big guns first. It's why we get the big guns first on base game too, to secure preorders

On the other hand, it's a pass that a significant number of people already bought without knowing what they were getting.
You already have the money and, in this instance, already warned people to not buy the pass if they weren't confident in it. It's very much on the clientele if they bought the pass without knowing all of the content and subsequently got mad at one of the later additions.

Continued DLC often always sees diminishing returns anyway. People move on to other stuff or just don't want to play the game anymore.

Theoretically you add a character like Master Chief, Lara Croft, Sora, Crash, Geralt, etc, that would DEFINITELY attract more players to Smash.

Going off of Sakurai's DLC track record, he ended Sm4sh with the most requested character on a global scale.

Its a case by case basis. Smash gets an installment every 4-5 years or so. If we're talking COD or Battlefield, i agree with you. BUT, Smash (especially Ult) is not going to waiver in fandom anytime soon.

I’m still leaning towards Cacomallow being real. If it was fake, I think someone would’ve owned up to it now. If it’s fake, then it’s a fantastic mod & you think this person would want to promote their work. That’s what happened with the Rayman leak in Smash 4.

No one ever owned up to the Grinch leak since it seems they did it in a legit marketing office with real Grinch promos. So there could be legal problems if they revealed they did it.

*Among realizable choices

It's worth pointing that out since it's still convenient legal wording and also because that while Bayonetta in Smash was absolutely requested and is an awesome addition that easily broke all traditions regarding "lame final reveals" with a really hype one (not that I agree this was ever the case anyway)...

Her data did exist in game within two weeks of the ballot going live (which it would be for 4 months)... So, there's obviously intentions to put Bayonetta in prior to really figuring that out and it's also worth pointing out that despite being requested and awesome, there's no denying Bayonetta is still more niche than a lot of your average characters and the most niche third party in Smash besides Banjo & Kazooie (which, again, isn't an issue).
