No, that's not what I mean.By "normal" you mean something very rude and what people usually assume from trolls or jerks with a big ego?

They'd be more representing Hyrule Warriors as neither are from any of the core Zelda games. Not even the spin-offs directly focused on the core Zelda stuff. HW is its own thing. The only spin-offs that are tied to the core games are the Tingle games at best right now. HW doesn't follow any regular Zelda canon at all. There's also a possibility Tecno Koei owns some kind of rights or something(possibly Lana? Linkle was actually a concept art from Nintendo if I remember right) that might make it hard to get any content in Smash. Another possibilities is that since it has nothing to do with normal Zelda games is that Sakurai didn't feel it had a reason to be noted. Though it is kind of funny how Tingle returned to his MM design for his stage cameo in Great Bay.How do you guys feel about the possibility of Linkle or Lana from Hyrule Warriors representing the zelda series in future smash games as playable characters?
I strongly dislike that game, so I'm not holding out for them. Zelda does need more reps, though, so maybe I shouldn't be picky. How do you guys feel about the possibility of Linkle or Lana from Hyrule Warriors representing the zelda series in future smash games as playable characters?
Agreed. Better then another generic swordsmen like Byleth.I'd still prefer Celica, but man, Edelgard would honestly be a really exciting choice for Smash. Axes, magic, and the Authority skill all rolled into one character could be really neat.
And I mean hey, Sakurai did say he'd prefer more heroes to use axes over swords, right? :V
I mean, I wouldn't say Byleth is a generic sword user.Agreed. Better then another generic swordsmen like Byleth.
But mechanically, what would set him apart?I mean, I wouldn't say Byleth is a generic sword user.
Their sword is a whip sword.
Even then we already have enough sword users.I mean, I wouldn't say Byleth is a generic sword user.
Their sword is a whip sword.
Okay but that's moving the goalpost.Even then we already have enough sword users.
Majority of those being Fire Emblem characters.
The swordmen dont even make a quarter of the roster.Even then we already have enough sword users.
Majority of those being Fire Emblem characters.
It's not a mentality that you can evolve past, in the sense of progression. You can devolve from it, though.Back on the "too many swords" argument again, guys?
I thought we've evolved past that mentality by now.
Still too many. The swordmen dont even make a quarter of the roster.
It'd be pretty neat if only because we don't have a Crossbow user in the rosterHow do you guys feel about the possibility of Linkle or Lana from Hyrule Warriors representing the zelda series in future smash games as playable characters?
I have a feeling that would be saved for a second fighters passI'd still prefer Celica, but man, Edelgard would honestly be a really exciting choice for Smash. Axes, magic, and the Authority skill all rolled into one character could be really neat.
And I mean hey, Sakurai did say he'd prefer more heroes to use axes over swords, right? :V
Seriously, just because most of the sword users consist of Fire Emblem characters doesn't mean sword users are a bad thing (even if several of the current high and top tiers are sword users)Back on the "too many swords" argument again, guys?
I thought we've evolved past that mentality by now.
Finally, a post I can somewhat get behind.I really want many more Mii costumes, especially based on characters that have little to no chance of getting in Smash as playable fighters.
I was so happy to see Lip and Chibi-Robo and Isaac and Ray Mk III and Saki Amamiya get in Smash as Mii costumes. They softened the blow of them not being playable, you know?
I really would like to see many Zelda costumes since we are probably not getting a Zelda newcomer in a long time.
Impa from SS
Midna
Postman from MM (one of my favorite costumes in Hyrule Warriors)
Sheik
Engineer Link
Great Fairy from OOT with fairy sword from MM
NES Link
Outset Island Link
Ravio with Tornado Rod
Tetra
Vaati
Zelda from TP with rapier
Malon with Lon Lon Milk
Tingle with fairy bottle
Zelda from BOTW with Guardian-like gun
No one says they're a "bad thing."Seriously, just because most of the sword users consist of Fire Emblem characters doesn't mean sword users are a bad thing (even if several of the current high and top tiers are sword users)
Not nearly enough.Even then we already have enough sword users.
Majority of those being Fire Emblem characters.
I don't think there are.Finally, a post I can somewhat get behind.
My only thing is that I'd rather they be free, but that's another subject.
No one says they're a "bad thing."
They only say that there's too many, which there are.
I do not understand you.I don't think there are.
I thought it'd be clear. Oh well.I do not understand you.
I'm saying that I do not understand how you could possibly have this opinion.I thought it'd be clear. Oh well.
I don't think we have too many sword users.
Honestly I'd kill a man to get Rokusho in smash. If you want more sword characters, there is Youmu Konpaku from Touhou who is one of the most popular characters in the whole series. Inb4 multiple support threads for different Touhou characters start appearing. Also Tenshi from the same series uses a sword as well
I am open to the concept of Linkle getting into smash, i prefer linkle over link nowadays, but its true that hyrule warriors isn't a zelda game at its core so Linkle or Lana can't represent Zelda.
I honestly didn't expect Fire Emblem to get as many characters despite having a large amount of characters similar to Touhou's amount.
Is there any support for Shadow Peach from Thousand Year Door? I remember her being an alternate costume choice in Project M
Because what weapon someone wields matters less than how they actually use it. I don't get hung up on silly things like weapon choice.I'm saying that I do not understand how you could possibly have this opinion.
I thought it'd be clear. Oh well.
Agreed. In fact, I think we have too few sword users considering they are like 10/80 of the roster or something.I thought it'd be clear. Oh well.
I don't think we have too many sword users.
Seems like good Spirit or Assist Trophy material at best.Is there any support for Shadow Peach from Thousand Year Door? I remember her being an alternate costume choice in Project M
You're being sarcastic, but this is a good suggestion. We need some variety.

If we get a VN rep it'll be either Phoenix Wright or Professor Layton. I can't think of any character that compares to them in iconicness. The latest touhou fighting game Antinomy of Common Flowers is getting ported to the switch. Given Touhou's massive popularity in Japan and the growing western fanbase, there really is no reason to count out Reimu Hakurei from making to Ultimate as a playable character and future Smash titles. Plus due to Touhou's long history and many consider Touhou to be the most iconic indie video game series ever made, it is extremely likely that they would be the indie rep in the future. I understand that Shantae and a few other indie titles may be more popular in the western gaming scene and since some are already spirits, it may be more likely for her and a few others to be added before Reimu. Still the chances of Touhou getting a playable character will be very high now, the only thing that would prevent her is ZUN not allowing it. Although the most likely candidate is Reimu, its possible that Marisa, the 2nd most popular touhou character, may also get added in the next smash title as a playable character assuming Reimu gets in and support for more Touhou in smash is still strong. I just don't see western indie games like Undertale, Minecraft, Cuphead, Meat Boy, and some others to getting a playable character before Touhou. The popularity of Touhou in Japan alone is so large that at least one character definitely deserves a spot on the roster before western indie games get considered. Do you agree that Reimu is a near guarantee for a playable character in the future now that an official Touhou game will be on a nintendo console?
Reimu getting 50th spot in the video is a strong start. It is still surprising that for video game series with a fandom that is well known in the gaming industry for their music, fanart, fanmade games, animation, their own convention, and dedicated fans she didn't get more votes overall. But we all have our own preferences and i respect 100% respect that.
As for other possible characters, rather see more characters from japanese video games than characters from video games made in the western countries. If games from western countries do get considered, then they, imo, should get at least assist trophies or mii costumes instead of playable characters.
Since Visual Novels are considered a game genre, do you guys think its possible some characters from very popular visual novels or series that began as visual novel (Example: Fate and Melty Blood) can be considered to be represented in the future? If so any particular ones that deserve to be the main visual novel rep?
You can't ask the impossible.Damnit, Venus. XD
...Now make Steve sound awesome like that.
Imagine being such an asshole that you think being an asshole is normal.By "normal" you mean something very rude and what people usually assume from trolls or jerks with a big ego?
Do not likeHow do you guys feel about the possibility of Linkle or Lana from Hyrule Warriors representing the zelda series in future smash games as playable characters?
Whoa really? I didn't know that.I mean, I wouldn't say Byleth is a generic sword user.
Their sword is a whip sword.
That's a very big chunk.Agreed. In fact, I think we have too few sword users considering they are like 10/80 of the roster or something.
Yeah, it's a blink and you miss it thing from the E3 trailer, but the whip sword there is same sword Byleth wields in later trailers. If we get a VN rep it'll be either Phoenix Wright or Professor Layton. I can't think of any character that compares to them in iconicness.
As for Fate, I doubt Nintendo would ever add a character from a porn game.
You can't ask the impossible.
Imagine being such an ******* that you think being an ******* is normal.
Do not like
Whoa really? I didn't know that.
So Byleth is Morag but not on fire?Yeah, it's a blink and you miss it thing from the E3 trailer, but the whip sword there is same sword Byleth wields in later trailers.
Yes! I unironically support Tetris! We need some variety.

Math is clearly not your strong suit. That's a very big chunk.
It's a false dichotomy.Math is clearly not your strong suit.
Is a single slice out of a standard 8 slice pizza a "big chunk" of that pizza?
Pretty sure Kirby doesn't have actual legs, they look more like feetWe need some variety.

Honestly, given previous arguments, Fate is a series that I could see the argument about being an eroge first affecting it but at the same time I could see Sakurai just adding it out of the blue.Fate has evolved into a franchise well past its original erotic VN to the point where its popularity is well known not just in Japan but worldwide makes them a possible choice for consideration in the future
Absolutely out of the question.Fate has evolved into a franchise well past its original erotic VN to the point where its popularity is well known not just in Japan but worldwide makes them a possible choice for consideration in the future
I mean if Bayonetta is okay than I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with a character from Fate (well, except the overly sexualized ones where changing their outfits would piss too many people off)Honestly, given previous arguments, Fate is a series that I could see the argument about being an eroge first affecting it but at the same time I could see Sakurai just adding it out of the blue.
Please don't try to shut down the conversation. If you think something is unlikely, say why so.Absolutely out of the question.
Try telling this to anyone who simply posts things like "that's subjective." THAT shuts down conversation, but you'll never go after those people. Please don't try to shut down the conversation. If you think something is unlikely, say why so.
