Ain't gonna lie: This whole drama on the Geno thread just makes me roll my eyes. It doesn't help that I gradually lost interest in the idea of Geno being in Smash post-Brawl. I mean if he got in cool but he's not in my top most wanted.

They were likely done with negotiations and the reached the deals for all 5 of them in November of 2018 if this tweet of Sakurai's is anything to go by.

No, I doubt it was that recently that those talks finished up. Just because he said it was already decided BY then doesn't mean they didn't already get negotiations going and permission for certain characters like Banjo WELL beforehand.

Well I'm flattered. I'll have to go find some of them. Since a lot of them were just one off "at the moment" memes that wouldn't make sense out of context (and would prefer if they stay buried deep in the Geno Thread), I didn't exactly save them. But I do have access to some of my video ones on my Twitter. I'm gonna start making me for the characters I actually want though starting today.

Like I'd rather much have Geno than someone like Jonesy or Steve but Geno is pretty low down on my wants. My tastes of characters are weird and likely impossible anyways.

Let's be honest, it'll never end as Smash fans will never be satisfied. Ridley, K.Rool and Banjo fans moves on to their next most wanted and Geno fans would too

I love Mario RPGs dearly. LIke, so, so much.

But for me personally, I'm extremely apathetic towards Geno. If he makes it? Cool for those who wanted it! If he doesn't? Oh well. To be honest, in order to still feel this way about Geno...I have to disassociate the character from his fanbase, because holy smokes, they're really trying to top Ridley and K. Rool people pre-Ultimate, huh?

I see her as the antagonist of Story Mode 3

I have the scenario in my head.

Monika does a Strong Bad and deletes the whole game, kicking you back to the title screen where it's now Super Monika. Only mode, spectate. Only Stage, a custom one named "Our Reality". Characters, just Monika.

But as soon as the "Match" starts she sits down and talks directly to the screen. Then part way through, Kirby's warp Star crashes right on top of her. At which point you take control of Monika but Kirby has infinite lives. The only way to progress is to self destruct.

I’ve been gunning for Neku since Brawl. TWEWY originally came out around that time, and I loved that game to pieces.

Well of Capcom characters that have a strong Nintendo affinity there's Phoenix Wright, Viewtiful Joe and in considering the Wii version sold better than the PS2 original, Ametaseru from Okami.

Ngl, I'm a little jealous of Geno's fanbase. I wish my niche picks had half the support those guys got. It sucks how I could wish for X character to be in, only to be told that they're too obscure (and they're right, which is why they won't get in), yet Geno, despite being told that time after time still has a very healthy fanbase. Having a healthy, passionate fanbase is essentially a massive boon for those wanting their pick to be added in Ultimate.

I think really, at the end of the day, it's just me being annoyed over how wishy washy Smash speculation can be. No one wants X, because they're XYZ, yet there's another char with the same issues as the char you just wanted, but is backed up by much louder, more passionate fanbase. It makes me wonder how characters like these have so many people resonating with them, while other chars do not.
