Why is it not surprising that whenever there is something the community doesn't like, people start going on the leakbait argument? We had that **** with ****ing Hero for 5+ months for God's sake

By no means do I think Geralt is “a lock” or something.

Simply that he absolutely should not be ruled out as Challenger Pack 5.

Sabi did not say that Verge was wrong. He said he didn’t hear those same things. He also said he doesn’t get why people are suddenly sandbagging leakers now that a larger list has been provided in terms of who is out. I think it’s valid to at least take a step back and realize that literally just yesterday, everybody took their word as gospel.

Now that a larger list has been shot down, as well as numerous picks people wanted, the tables have turned. It’s basically the Smash community in a nutshell: “As long as you support my character, you’re fine. If you don’t? Pssh, no way do you have any information. There’s no way!”

I’m not even wagering to say I’m siding with Verge or Sabi, and it’s hilarious that people think Sabi is really that trustworthy when he really hasn’t leaked anything Smash related on his own, but go against Verge wholeheartedly despite his record being better than Sabi.

At this point I may retire from this **** after next week. Exhausting as hell.

I personally feel that the best thing I can do is to be neutral until everything finally unfolds as I did with Grinch.

There are too many pros and cons for both sides, and in cases really confusing such as this I find it better to stay calm and keep my mind on other stuff while everything unfolds.

I feel it won’t be worth it to get too exhausted with all of this in the end.

There is a possibility Verge could be wrong about one of the characters but it really seems like hope against hope at this point.

Seriously the speculation train is multi track drifting with just today. Guess I threw my hat in one of the craziest days of it.

I'm almost certain that fighter 5 will be announced this week with the small chance of hopefully leading into fighter 6. If not, I'm going to have a good week regardless it seems. State of Play, my favourite eatery is reopening, TGAs and more. After today I'm definitely sticking around.

You only have to deal with the devs; the author relinquished the rights to them for everything videogames.

What was right=Base Goku and Vegeta, Season 2 and Jiren.
What was wrong=Copy-pasted Beerus and Hit from legit leaks (thankfully, he hasn't pulled that off ever since), suggested things like Ultra Instinct Goku and some other things I can't recall well.
FighterZ wasn't ever Verg's forte unlike Soul Calibur VI or Smash.

Geralt is a grey area. It’s not wise to treat it as black and white, if you ask me.

It’s not something nearly as blatant as, say, Harry Potter or Katniss from the Hunger Games.

It’s a case in which the games themselves surpass the popularity of the books, the usage of the character in games is reliant on the game developer and not the author.

It’s not entirely one way or the other, and it comes down to what Sakurai considers out of the realm of possibility.

Geralt is pretty easy to license, he appears in just about everything.
If Sakurai wanted Geralt in, it'd be pretty easy.
What we're arguing about is that technically Geralt is a book character, who's video games have dwarfed the popularity of the books. That opens up a ton of gray area in whether he's eligible for Smash or not.

Idk how many times I have to say this, but I immediately thought that Verge’s list was 100% accurate, even though it had my most wanted on it.

It wasn’t until the Gamexplain/Source Gaming tweets, remembering a similar incident last year, and the fact that Geoff was the only one that knew about Joker last year that I started expressing doubt.

If all people were doing was using the “leakbait” argument, I’d understand where you are coming from. But just know that there are other reasons why people have expressed uncertainty other than their most wanteds getting deconfirmed.
