AFAIK, Miku Hatsune hasn't been disconfirmed since she isn't actually owned by Sega.

Technically, Miku didn't make her start in video games; her primary thing is music culture.

Considering the one rule that Sakurai has actually stated, I don't think she can even be in the running.

I'm not sure how to interpret that honestly. It might just be that they haven't confirmed how much longer DLC development will be, because I strongly doubt they have confirmed more than perhaps 3-4 characters at the moment.

I'll wait with saying anything definitive until Sakurai calls it.

The new cat leak isn’t deconfirmed by anyone or anything. It’s basically dependent on who is revealed as the fifth fighter.

I've always thought people were overhyping post-pass and getting ahead of themselves.

If another season pass was coming, the Direct would've announced it. At best, I think post-pass is probably 2, maybe 3 more at best.

Honestly, I find it kinda weird that we have all these companies disconfirmed, yet people still go: “Well Verge didn’t say (insert obscure or extremely unlikely character from the get go here), so it CLEARLY must be them!”

He doesn’t have to disconfirm every living, breathing possibility for us to know it’s not happening lol. We’re only getting one fighter for FP5 too. There’s unlikely, like Sora, Kratos, and an Arc Systems character, and then there’s REALLY unlikely, like an EA character or something like that.

That being said, Sony IS the only big, non disconfirmed (as far as I know) company that is in. It could be them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Verge disconfirmed them completely at some point. All that’s left are Microsoft and Square, and if those are off the table, then I think the impossible has happened and we’re left with a Nintendo char lol.

At the very least, I think we still end up with another Pass worth of characters. So like 5-6 more unless Sakurai does semi-clones again to make that count like 7-8.

There's a lot more to talk about with this in general and to consider what Sakurai means in the grand scheme of things, or if he's just being modest about things since he also has a tendency to do that. I don't really think it'll just be 2 characters, because I would have expected a Final Smash Direct type situation with that, but his words do help pump the breaks on speculation again.

And it's a hell of a lot more relevant to speculation and interesting to talk about than Sabi and Vergeben's usual bull**** attention getting shenanigans.

"A little bit longer" could mean "Just because I said the next Smash could be 10 years away doesn't mean you're getting DLC fighters for 10 years". Which I expected to be an extremely unrealistic expectation anyway.

Gonna nitpick, but the Saber most people talk about is Artoria, the chick in the blue dress. That one is actually Nero. Yes, there are multiple Sabers, so many of them that they have their own category called “Saberface”, lol.

Yeah, "a little longer" is relative of course, but I do kind of struggle to see how you would ever use "a little bit longer" in regards to more than a year in terms of a time measurement.

Yeah this quote kinda startle me when I first read it, not gonna lie.

I totally understand that Sakurai is probably tired of working on Smash for 8+ years straight, and people have brought up the thought of us getting only 2-3 characters after the Pass's end since September, but I always found strange how Sakurai never tried to tamper expectation when talking about the extra DLCs (he didn't mention budget or wanting to do "just a little more" in the Banjo presentation nor in the Famitsu column after all) instead stressing how much he wants to do more collaborations and expand the crossover and such. Not to mention announcing the extra DLCs 6 months before the presumed end of the FP always felt odd, like if they're gonna do just a few more characters why not announce this in the F5p presentation or something... but after this I don't really know.

I thought that at the very least we were getting another FP, but now I'm not so sure.

This is what I know as far as how my friend explained it to me.

She's on of the most story important servants in the Fate/Zero franchise. In the series, servants are historical figures from the past and future (regardless of whether or not they actually existed) that have been turned into magical people that can be summoned by a few non-servant characters. They're all fighting over the magic relic known as the Holy Grail, which I hope is not like the Beanstar in that it never does anything but everyone treats it like it's the most powerful thing in the world anyway. Saber herself is King Arthur who is now a girl for some reason.

She’s a girl simply because it was more marketable, lol. Originally, they DID write her as a guy, but they changed her into a girl. The interesting thing is, eventually they did bring back the male Saber and now he shows up in his own series called Fate: Prototype.

But leakers' attention getting shenaningans is fun! Otherwise I doubt we'd be discussing video game legends like Cristiano Ronaldo!

Seriously though, it's difficult to say either way. He could mean that it's only a few characters Post-Pass, but it feels like the qoute contradicts his earlier wish to push as far as possible (IIRC that was said during the Banjo presentation? Could be off, have to check.). He could have a change of heart, but it really feels too sudden to say that conclusively (given what we know). It's kinda why I'm guessing this:

Sakurai's setting 3-4 characters as a safe minimum in case stuff hits the fan or Sakurai decides he has had enough, and any past that being gravy as Guybrush20X6 said. Any characters past those 3-4 are subject to Sakurai / Furukawa hashing out any sort of agreement.

Real talk, even if the post pass is only 3 fighters, that's still 15 unique newcomers added to Ultimate, pretty much double the base newcomer total if you ignore echoes.
